Nice! Yep keep the hubcaps & add some white walls plus a lower job. Would look nostalgic as. I guessing your from New Zealand coz there were plenty 4 door KE20s there?
-
Damn weather turned out good. I shouldn't have turned around. Well maybe next time. Good photos. Nice meeting you Johno & KEhendo (interested in selling your car?). Bernie-Jay

First I've seen. Anyone seen this type of setup before? Needs some white sidewalls.
-
I remember that day. Although I forgot your name. When I tried to start the car after having a chat it almost didn't start as I had starter trouble during the time. All sorted now. Regards Bernie-Jay

Rusty Relics - Post Old And Abandoned Rollas Here

Where abouts is that Publica? What country? Its RHD. Did anyone notice the fold-in style side mirrors, looks weird. Very non-original. True to the year range but they weren't just options. They had different transmissions, diff & wheel stud patterns. I'm not to sure about the interior though. -
Yeah finally, about time actually as I've been a member since '05. I went to my Uncleś the other day & the KE26 is till there. Surprised me that you haven't picked it up yet. I had two of the hotwires on the rear just after I bought them off you but the profile of the tyres I got put on them are too big for my car, 205/65.They rubbed so much on the guards so I went back to superlites with 205/60.

Thanks harun for uploading pics. Saves me the trouble hehe. I'll get new ones soon. Just to let everyone know that those photos were taken in 2003 when we just got that car. At the mooment the paint has faded on the hood and boot lid. The are also some rust spots that my Dad has repaired. What I mean by when I say that 'it doesn't look like that now' is that coz it served as my daily i didn't really look after it as well as I should have.

Damn I can't join the cruise tomorrow. I've got work at 3pm. Thanks for the offer. Maybe next time. Anyway my Dad's going to be using my car coz someone pranged his Hilux Surf last weekend. Hmm another brother. Could mean another ke25. let me ask him. haha

Rusty Relics - Post Old And Abandoned Rollas Here
bernieboy replied to Tally's topic in Rollaclub Rides
Someone save that KE25 please! Those year models ('71-'72) are hard to come by nowadays. Escpecially with that grill & headlight/indicators assembly. Trev, is it possible for you to grab some parts for me? I'll pay. I'm from Melbourne though. I need/want the grill headlight/indicator assembly & taillights. -
Looks Celicaish from the rear.
-
No need to apologise redwarf. I needed to be corrected anyway.
-
I'm most probably wrong about all my assumptions.

I think i've been misunderstood. I didn't say that leaf sprung cars cannot drift. Any rwd car can wether its IRS or live axle, leaf or coil sprung. I drive & own a ke25 & its pretty damn easy to hang the rear end loose, but i'm no drifter. But many of those top level D1 drifters do not choose to use cars with that sort of suspension. Even the te27 Levin entered by TTE in the 1975 1000 Lakes Rally was live axle coil sprung. Then again maybe it was because of the rules. (This is shooting of topic now) Specs are below: Toyota Corolla Levin (TE27) 1974-1977 (Group 4) The oil crisis had a serious impact not only upon the world economy as a whole but also on motor sports. As a result, the Rally Monte Carlo was cancelled. Since Toyota chose not to participate in rallying events as a factory at this time, Ove Andersson was entrusted with the company's rally activities. He entered the TAP Rally (Portugal) and other events in 1974. In 1975, he participated in the WRC series driving a Corolla Levin. Adopting European rally car standards, the Corolla featured a compact, light body powered by a 185ps 2T-G taken from the Celica. The TE27 made good use of its advantages, and Hannu Mikkola drove it to TTE's first victory in the 1975 1000 Lakes Rally. Engine Body and Chassis Designation 2T-G Height 1335 mm Type Water-cooled inline, 4-cyl., 16 valve DOHC Length 3945 mm Bore and Stroke 85.0 x 70.0 mm Width 1590 mm Total Displacement 1588 cc Wheelbase 2335 mm Fuel System Nippon Denso Mechanical Fuel Injection Track front/rear 1270 x 1295 mm Lubrication Drysump Weight 800 kg Compression Ratio 10.5 : 1 Transmission 5 Speed Maximum Output 185 ps / 136 kw Suspension Suspension McPherson-type struts, Solid axle with coil-spring Maximum Torque 185 Nm / 6000 rpm Brakes Front ventilated disc, rear disk Tyre and Wheel Pirelli / Minilight Taken from http://www.teamcelica.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=443 Now wouldn't you love to have that sort of suspension in your leaf sprung car. I know i would. Sure enough redwarf has many years racing his ke25 so i assume it would be quite easy for him. Also i agree that the shorter wheelbase of the kp61 makes it harder to keep a constant angle as noted by anastasios.
-
Correct me if i'm wrong, kp6x starlets rear end are coil sprung standard. So it would be easier to setup for drifting than any leaf sprung Corollas.

Cool Vid. Nice find -
Same here I would pay that much too. TE27 go for around $10K. Hopefully there are still some examples floating around in Japan when I have enough money for it.

I've translated some of the page using babel fish translation. The tranlsation isn't the best. "Year type Toyota sprinter Hi Delux" - That's the title of the item "Manufacturer name: The Toyota car species name: Sprinter grade name: High deluxe year system: 1973 travel distance: 41,000km vehicle inspection expiration date: It is not Body type: ? Color: White restoration history: Restoration history it is not the routine inspection records: There are no records to deliver, condition: Present condition delivery owner past record: Plural owner missions: In addition manual handle: The right handle" These point to this being a Sprinter 4 door.

I just did a little research & found this on http://www.xs4all.nl/~mjs/corollastory.html: 'August 1971 saw the introduction of the Toyota Sprinter 4-door Sedan, which had different rear roof end styling and was sold in Japan through the 'Toyota Auto' dealer outlet.' Could this be the car? The 'S' badge on the grille seems to point that way. The rear quarter vents are similar to the KE25/TE27s. I'm hoping it is this car. Nice find. What's the url of the orig photo? Berns

Wow cool. This is the first I've seen this. The headlight fixture is very similar to the 1973 TE27 Toyota Sprinter. Any other info on this car?
