To put it bluntly, a smaller carby...... A 32/36 is about as big as you'd want to go on a 4K...... A 32/32 is considered by many as ideal. As I understand it, it has something to do with air velocity and fuel vaporization, but I'm unsure of specifics. In short, the 38/38 will make the engine run like a dog, and there are many more viable options available to you. *edit* Regardless of the carby you choose, you will likely need to re-jet it to suit the motor if it hasn't been already. Google will provide the bulk of the answers to anything mechanical, all you need is a little patience...... Kgo.

Another option if you just can't be bothered looking and learning is just buy one that's already built, often works out cheaper and then all you have to do is try to not blow it up...... (Yoda would like to point out that this is not intended to sound mean or condescending in any way, and is merely trying to lay down the simplest possible truths) Taking into account your budget, Try this on for size. All you need to do with that is make a giant does pipe and you're set :) Unless you're still set on the V8 sound thing in which case, look into getting one of these fitted, relatively cheap and you get the noise without the shocking handling or fuel usage....... ^^ Stig Junior makes a good point, you have an extremely clean looking 55 on your hands there, and that in itself isn't a common find...... If it was me, I'd lower it a little on some classic oldschool style wheels, leave it completely stock besides that, and daily it, buy a beat up old KE70 and use that as a project car to thrash the shit out of....... These wheel would look the tits on the coup, Hayashi Street wheels, in a sensible size and offset, can be found for sale occasionally on http://ae86drivingclub.com.au/ All the best with your little red rolla, look after it, and it'll serve you well.
