  1. I don't take too much notice of them, but I don't think there were any at all. which is pretty unusual.
  2. Not much happening at Centre Rd. The KE30, KE35 & KE55 that have been there for ages still there. Only new thing of interest was a 4 door RT40.
  3. No, nothing in English. There is Japanese Nostalgic Car, which is US based, and a number of Australians subscribe to. They also have an interesting website What there is are the Japanese, Levin Trueno series (the publisher prints similar series for lots of other cars). Another good one is Nostalgic Hero, which has a variety of old Jap tin. The Japanese Mags are of very high production standard. May not be able to read them, but they are great to flick through. I have a fairly substantial collection........
  4. On a factory hydraulic set up, there is usually some adjustment at the pedal end of the master cylinder actuating rod. i.e. High up under the dash. In this case, you just take out the clevis pin and adjust it so you have enough slack prior to take up. But it's impossible to know how this was done. Presumably there was some welding and cutting of clutch pedals to suit the change from cable to hydraulic. Depends on whether it was done well or not.
  5. FFS! When is this #$%^&*@ ADSL2+ broadband going to upload these pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. It really depends on whether you want an original car or not, and how much of the fruit it has. Most seem to have had at least a motor change and possibly a 5 speed. I never quite appreciated how hard it was to find the various bits and pieces of trim until I started looking myself. I think there are a few guys on here with cars in various stages of incompleteness trying to find the bits they need to have a complete car. And by that I don't just mean the SL stuff. There is no doubt the relative value of KE1x's is on the increase, and 15/17's are that bit rarer again. But on the other hand, I don't know that there are that many people ready to actually put their hand in their pocket and hand over substantial sums quite yet.
  7. I reckon you should arrange a swap with one of the US guys on JNC. I wonder what USDM crown bumpers were like. Hopefully the full impact absorbing jobbies and not just over riders. It would look.....unique...... :jamie:
  8. I've PM'd you about a car of interest (no not mine). Check you have your PM's turned on.
  9. I saw you were looking for them 'elsewhere'. I tried getting some for the KE15 too. No go. might need to measure them up and look at generic repco ones. How much longer till she hits the road do you reckon?
  10. You are going straight to hell.
  11. It doesn't fit. From a quick look at the TA22 crossmember currently keeping the front of my KE25 off the ground, it is too wide. False economy trying to modify around that issue. It would impact on suspension geometry too. Your better bet is to use the KE crossmember and redo the engine mounts to suit as others have done. Depends on how handy you are with a welder as to whether it is economic or not.

  13. Hey Tally. I have some AE86 grease caps on order from Japan at the moment. Was only one in Australia and I needed 4. $7.60 each trade, $9.17 retail. Cap Front 43514-20010
  14. Also, you probably need to look for applications suited to a TE72, rather than T18
  15. Is it just me, or did this thread suddenly lose a number of answers.
  16. Ha! Sorry Tally. Was a bit early in the morning for me too, but I wasn't missing it. Wife was wondering why I was sleeping on the couch. Didn't want her waking on the alarm and coming down as I hit the bid button! Only so much she needs to know, which explains why I have a post office box.....
  17. Well some reasonable progress at last! Amazing what you can get done with a free day to get stuck into it. Brakelines are in and seal. Just put rubber ones in in the end. Recaro LX's are in and are fan bloody tastic. Got some purpose built rails from Japan. Had a good look at modifying the AE86 rails but decided not to arse around with them. Even better, after buying the pair of seats for $250, I sold the supra rails on ebay for $50. Best of all, the drivers door went on first go! Thought I was going to be adjusting and fiddling all afternoon, but no. Been dreading that job. Also fitted the adjustable panhard rod, which with the car on stands will almost certainly be adjusted wrong, but just having it on the car is a psychological lift. Plus the short stroke bilsteins for the rear. Stock stroke Koni reds out for now. Now thinking about putting a bit of oil in the top of the bores for a while before I try turning the engine over by hand. Can then check the timing and whatnot as I had the dizzy out at some stage to give one to a mate in need. On the parts front, have picked up a NOS genuine Levin badge for the boot on the TE27, a NOS grille with brand new badge also for the TE27, plus at long last, the elusive interior roof panel for the factory sunroof on the AE86, plus a clock surround. I chucked out my warped sunroof panel about 15 years ago thinking I would just get another from somewhere.....
  18. I am on yahoo all the time. Crossmembers don't come along very often, but if you can wait, eventually one will. Another option is 3TCgarage.com which is a US based forum. There are always US spec TE21's and TE27's being parted out. Do bear in mind that US sourced parts are limited by left hand drive issues, not a problem with crossmembers, but means pedal boxes have to come from Japan. I got a tailshaft from japan too, cheaper than having one made up here. As above, a TA22 crossmember isn't an option, as the person I bought my KE25 off found out. I basically have every part needed to put one together now, sourcing parts mainly from Japan and the US, and a few from Europe. Parts are often expensive, as there is a growing market for this stuff.
  19. Unfortunately I have a competing engagement so won't be there...... I always have an excuse. None of my supposed cars actually exist you know. :D
  20. Definitely remove and clean the seal. If it is at all perished or split, you may need to find a replacement. You don't say whether it is a factory or aftermarket job. If factory, check that the drain holes from the sunroof area haven't blocked up. Edit: I should add, if it's factory, be very careful with any seals. If you can get them, they will be expensive.
  21. Yes that was my thinking. Cute little bugger weren't you. I'm going to do a mega feedback session soon!
  22. Difficult but true unfortunately Andy. What does a half reasonable AE82 twin cam go for? You should find one easily enough for about $1000. What is yours worth, probably a $1000. You could modify what you have at a fair amount of expense and still not go as good as a twincam, or you could buy a donor car and transfer nearly the whole car across to your shell, if you feel confident enough. Very little of your original car would remain though, and you would probably be out of pocket at least $1000 to buy the car and put new filters, regas the aircon etc.
  23. It is you isn't it. Something you haven't been telling us?
  24. Replace it with an AE82 twin cam by which I mean sell your car. They are worth bugger all to buy these day, and if you are patient you will find a really clean one. Then almost certainly you will get the same money you laid out on it when you sell yours on. Then you will have a good zippy car with better modification potential. If you buy a crashed car and swap it across you may have insurance issues?? Why go to the effort of swapping everything over when you don't have to.
  25. 80's Toyota promotional film in Japanese showing some stock AE86's being absolutely thrashed around various Euro circuits by the likes of Per Eklund. Shamelessly lifted from JNC where I saw it first. I'm not real sure, but...... could that be Trev at 9.22 with the AE82???
