  1. There was a post somewhere, either here or toymods, where a guy in qld was asking basically the same question. When he spoke to the Qld Reg branch, he found the story was the same. Whatever the case, don't believe anything that isn't in writing.
  2. That's true, because AE92's came out with that engine in Australia. No TE2x ever came out in Australia. I have argued this point numerous times, no one ever believes it until they get it in writing from their respective state registration authority. So away you go.
  3. If you are in Victoria, i can guarantee you need a "mod plate" as the car was not available in Australia with that engine. I believe this also applies in other states. You don't have to run a booster. TE27's also came out without a booster. Some people prefer not to have a booster. I suspect that with a 2T running a single downdraft carb, you would have enough room to fit some sort of booster (TA22?) if desired.
  4. Well there is your answer. Go look at the wreckers for non sealed beams. I have (illegal) 55/100w H4 inserts in my AE86. Would recommend installing a relay supply to the lights and using grunty wiring to the actual bulb from the relay to maximise performance and avoid problems with melted wiring and possible fires....
  5. Putting a kit through it isn't the same as getting it properly rebuilt. It's old, and things wear out. May also be other factors at play here.
  6. And I can tell you my V50 is very nice to drive, but nowhere near as indestructible as these oldies.....
  7. Yes, I need to stop searching for parts on the internet and wreckers all the time, and actually fit some of them. AE86 slightly delayed whilst awaiting my latest purchase, GT fuel and brake lines from Japan. So now have had to pull out the tailshaft handbrake cables etc. plus all the master cylinder and air filter stuff etc etc.......
  8. There were still some there on the weekend, but I don't take much notice of them. There were definitely 3 or 4 next to each other. No hydraulic pedal boxes though.
  9. Toivonen won the 1980 RAC in a rear wheel drive Talbot and has to be seen to be believed. Penti Arikkala starred in the 1981 British rally Championship in an outdated Escort, and did it on Avon road tyres. Then the Quattro came along and things were never the same.
  10. Can post this one up to you if you like, for comparison, just send it back whenever.
  11. Like this perhaps??? In my defence, it was about 25 years ago (and a rock and roll party!). Doesn't quite explain the curly mullet. Memo to self, don't grow bright red hair long if you're a bloke.
  12. In the H beam, it's about 10.3mm The big end is about 24.7mm As above, I'm no engineer..... And I am relying on the seller that it actually is a K rod.
  13. NSK Vernier caliper. The dial is too hard for me to follow! I can only read off the scale on the side.
  14. So measuring the new rod I have here, described as a K rod by the reputable ebay seller in the US. Big end diameter 45mm WITHOUT BEARING SHELL small end 18mm centre to centre 120mm Mind you I am no engineer, but I checked my measurements a couple of times and it is a quality dial indicator.
  15. Well I bought the RAC Rally Championship 1976 and RAC Rally 1980 & 1981 F#$%^&G AWESOME I can especially recommend the 1980/1981 DVD - lots of variety in the cars, and the start of the Quattro revolution. 1976 has a glimpse of a TE27 with massively flared guards. Henri Toivonen was just sick. Tragic he died so young, but I bet he never backed off right up to the moment of his death. The Finnish guys are classic, so understated, yet you just know that underneath that reserve, they are pissing themselves laughing. I grew up in this period, watching footage of the Southern Cross and went from watching guys like this to Greg Carr , Hugh Bell , Portman etc on the Alpine Rally, Akademus and so on. The noise through the forest at night will never leave me. Manning controls in the middle of the night, you never noticed the cold You young guys don't know what you missed out on. Buy this and you will find out. I suspect I will buy a few more........
  16. I have one new unused one here, if you tell me where you want it measured from.
  17. Saw an awesome brown KE20 heading home from Dairy Bell (for my usual post wreckers milkshake). Looked suspiciously like a certain forum members car, and the personalised plates were a giveaway!
  18. Yes I saw that as I drove out today. I raped a few of those back in my Datto days. They were truly awful things, but had great mechanicals. How about the MA70 in the centre of the lane down near the Toyota row. Had taken a serious hit in the rear. Looks like the forklift guys are still not back from holidays, they have cars stuck all over the place. Also went to Heatherdale Rd today, and there is nothing new there at all from my last visit a month or so ago.
  19. If you run the rising rate regulator with the stock injectors, you will notice a difference. It also increases the load on your fuel pump. Mind you, I ran it like that for years without a failure. I am going to try an old HKS F-Con piggy back fuel computer on mine at some stage, with some low impedence 225cc injectors, which enables me to fiddle with the fueling a little bit (but not timing). When I get around to dyno time, I shall see what it offers.
  20. The computer doesn't know you have changed the injector flow by about one third, and still squirts in fuel in response to the various sensors. Of course it runs rich. Plus you will probably blow up your computer as you have gone from low to high resistance I am guessing you have put a rising rate fuel pressure regulator on. If you persist with these injectors, take it off and return to the standard reg.
  21. Hey no fair Kebin, hoarding KE15/17's!
  22. What a ripper! That has come up real well!! Here's the Qld guy from JNC mentioned by silverra23 http://japanesenostalgiccar.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7487
  23. How to win friends and influence people............ Looks good to me.
  24. And the answer is, "All our DVDs are region free - which means they will play anywhere in the world." I might pick up a couple and see how they go. Though the neighbours may complain when I turn the stereo connected to the TV ALL the way up.
  25. Search around on here Would expect it will be on there somewhere, presumably the pollution additions wouldn't add too much.....
