  1. Peddle feel has returned. Also solved the problem I had with reseting the boot release solenoid. It doesn't need any fancy circuitry. The spring in the release should be able to pull the solenoid back out. I'll be looking at installing this really soon, weather permitting.
  2. I picked up a second hand front right brake rotor from the wrecker today 'cause mine was warped. I fitted it up only to find that I've lost a fair amount of peddle feel. This "new" rotor was a bit thinner then the old one. I checked the fluid and it's a really murky brown so it looks like its time for a complete brake overhaul or more my style a brake upgrade. I'll look at this after I've cleaned up all the other jobs I've started and not finished.
  3. Got some quotes today for getting the rust removed and a full respray. Prices ranged from $6,000 to $10,000 or wouldn't do it at all. The guy that said 6G was talking completely stripping the car and sanding back to bare metal too. I have an idea for a boot release. I have a KE70 boot release (complete) and a Vision rear door central locking solenoid. I was thinking of cutting the cable and attaching the solenoid to the end of it so it's a push button release. The only problem with it is reseting the solenoid. The simplest way is 2 buttons so you activate it then reverse the current to reset it, but I was thinking, maybe use a Jaycar timer or something to automatically reset the solenoid. Anyone got any ideas?
  4. At least you learnt from your mistake. So many just keep making the same mistake over and over again.
  5. I knew that there were AE82s down the other end but didn't know there were any KE70s down there.
  6. Here's some pic's of the central locking in the passenger door. The drivers door is obviously a mirror image which is why I only photographed the passenger door. There's no photos of the alarm for obvious security reasons. Changing the locks has also been put in the too hard basket and I'm going to just get the door locks shaved when I get the respray. /Flame suit on
  7. That's at The Northern Wreckers between Penrith and Windsor.
  8. A waste of good Corollas.
  9. That looks pretty good but what is velour? I've heard of it but don't know what kind of material it is. I don't think I'll use black as the rest of the interiors main colour is brown. I'll have to go do some imagining. Found some photos of the new rear shocks today so here they are. Still in box. Out of Box. Old Vs new. New shocks fitted. Top mounts. Bottom mount.
  10. Alarm is now installed. Immobilizer, siren, lights, ignition and remote central locking all work but none of the sensors are working (doors, bonnet, boot). Any tips would be appreciated. I also picked up a new set of locks today as one of mine had screwdriver damage. I couldn't work out how to get the ignition barrel out so I'll have two keys unless I shave the doors and boot. I also picked up a KE70 boot release witch I plan on combining with a spare central locking solenoid to make it a push button release. I just need to work out where to mount the solenoid and how to reset the solenoid after it's been triggered. Some photos will be up tomorrow.
  11. Here's the measurements for anyone who's interested. I'm guessing that the 9mm measurement is the vinyl has stretched and it should be 10mm
  12. Sorry that you had to see that ROLLA'BOY. I wouldn't want to imagine what it would be like. I hope my 35 never dies but I live in Sydney and haven't had much luck with driving. I learned from my first few accidents and have slowed down now but it seams that everyone down here is out to get me. There are SOOOOO many down here who race up behind me then tailgate or pull out without looking. I used to enjoy driving but it's become frustrating and stressful.
  13. Also one I forgot about, I was driving my dads '01 Lux, back in Nov '06 on Middle Rd at Browns Plains and was rammed from behind. The Lux was fully loaded with tools so it wasn't very quick at taking off and there was a lot of traffic on that road while it was 2 lanes. Where it reduces to 1 lane I had a 4x4 patrol or landcruiser sitting in my blind spot and not showing any signs of getting in front of me, so I sped up and merged in front of him. We sat in the traffic which was very slow as the other cars turned off various side streets until the last car in front of me turned off at a round-a-bout. As I came out of the round-a-bout I felt a big hit from behind (and heard) and looked in my rear view to see the 4x4 pushing me down the road. Te driver had the really cold stare too. I tried braking but I would have damaged my dads Lux to stop him. I then tried accelerating away from him till I got to 80KPH but he was still pushing me faster so I took the first opportunity to swing off the road. The left side was open and the oncoming traffic had only just come into sight, so I swung off into the dirt and stopped no problems. He was flicked to the other side of the road then pulled back across the road into the dirt on the left then took off. I got his plate number and had a witness give me her number and gave it all to the cops with a statement (taken in the cops note pad with no signature) and figured I'd get a call when my statement had been typed up but never heard another thing about it. Also for those that are interested the Lux only sustained a 2x8" scuff mark on the back of the tray. Steel FTW! He did hit me pretty hard too.
  14. I actually got glass thrown all over my face. I was lucky that I had tight fitting sunnies on and didn't get any in my eyes, just 2 tinny nicks on my face and neck. The shock didn't hit me until I got to a mates place 15mins later, then I started shaking. When I rolled the Lux and when I hit the roo I started shaking straight away. I was lucky when I hit the roo as well as it was a blind corner with a car coming the other way. When I hit the roo the bonnet flew up with enough force to snap a windscreen whipper off and steam started pouring out of the radiator so I couldn't see anything. The worst is that not a single car stopped to help even as I pushed the Lux the rest of the way around the corner to where I could get it off the road.
  15. My Hilux has had a hard life. My first accident was in it in a paddock. I was learning to drive and used to take it down the back of the property and flog it around. Well while sliding sideways the lead rear wheel hooked a small clump of grass and the ute rocked over onto its side. My next accident again in the Hilux saw it cop $6,500 damage from hitting a roo. I was coming around a blind corner on a 80KPH road and a 5' roo jumped down an embankment and landed in front of me. Accident number 3 was a mate flogging it around a backyard with me and another mate in the tray. Yeah I know bloody stupid, I wouldn't ever do it again. Well he hooked a pothole with the back wheel and again put it on it's side, with my mate and I diving and running as quick as we could. The last accident that I was involved in was a truck with a wide load (a couple of 5,000 galen concrete tanks) side swiped me on a narrow bridge. I was coming around a bad corner (triple apex and vegetation blocks your vision of what's around the corner for most of it) which leads onto a narrow bridge. On the bridge was the truck, no flashing light or wide load signs. By the time I realised I had no where to go and hit the skidz. I was doing about 40KPH when I hit him and he never changed his speed. The first tank on the trailer smashed my side mirror buckling the door and bent the ladder rack which threw the car sideways into the wooden bridge railing. Attached are photos of when it hit the roo and when the truck hit it. ( sorry 'bout the poor quality of some photos, they are old scanned ones). The Roo damage The truck damage
  16. Definitely down for a TRD Hilux. As soon as I finish the 2 cars I currently have and pay off my loan. So the should definitely be plenty of second hand ones by then.
  17. I'll measure tomorrow if you still need it.
  18. I want one! Anyone know any high risk, dangerous jobs with big payouts?
  19. She looks great. I love this style Rolla.
  20. Sweet paint job, cool plates too. Any pics of how the interior cleaned up?
  21. I felt sorry for me too, lol, but I've escaped now. Yeah that probably would have been me. How long ago was it? I picked up some more goodies for the Rolla today. I got a Vision 2 door central locking and alarm/immobilizer kit, lower dash from a wrecker, Soundstream Tarantula series 6x9"s, lay-byed a Soundstream Wanderer 2 channel amp and ordered some new rear shocks. The boot leaks so that has to be fixed before the amps and subs are installed. The 6x9s The cracks in the old dash. The rest of the dash is in perfect condition and the cracks can't really be seen so I offer it up for free. Pick up only. It will be thrown out in 1 week. Tomorrow I'll start putting the dash back together with the new goodies installed. Still to be done is the boot/rear end cleaned up (remove all rust, replace rear bumper, replace all rubber, retrim the boot) and the rear seat reupholstered. I'm going to get the body cleaned up in sections to spread out the cost. Starting with the boot/rear end 'cause it leaks, then work my way forward having all the rust removed, undercoated and new rubbers fitted. Once all the rust has been removed I'll get it resprayed in the original white and have the stripes on the sides replaced.
  22. Cheers to those that helped with identifying my wires. What I've worked out/been told is: the first wires are speaker wires for if the car just had the AM radio with single speaker; the second set of wires are for the auto gear box if I had one; the 3rd wires are for A/C; and the 4th wires may also be for A/C (need to reference BradW's diagrams again).

This weekend I'm also picking up a lower dash section from a wrecker as I wasn't happy with a few cracks in the lower passenger corner on mine. The cracks have been glued and aren't really noticeable, but it bugged me knowing they were there. I'll put mine up for sale $10 with some pics after I've picked up the new one and I'll check the wrecker to see if he has any more in good nick if anyone is interested.
  24. Cheers guys, I was aware that Toyota will use one harness to do all versions of a model of car. The original AM radio/cassette player wiring was hacked up by the last owner as he had no idea what he was doing when trying to install a CD player. The wire that are for the A/C and if any of the other wires are for the cassette player are the main concern. I was just curious about the other wires in case they are other accessories I might want to hook up in the future. I have seen a set of dark green leads unconnected in the boot and in the Gregory's manual it has a diagram for late models that has one speaker for the AM radio and 2 speakers for the cassette player. I'll talk to BradW and see if he'll send me a copy of his diagrams. Cheers guys

I was just curious about the other wires in case they are other accessories I might want to hook up in the future. I've now run all the wiring for 2 amps in the boot that will drive Soundstream Terranculla 6x9"s and 2 Alpine Type S 10" subs. Headdeck is fully wired in and I'm waiting for Friday to pick up a lower dash as mine has some cracks down the bottom passenger side. I'm going to hang off putting the rear seat back in until I've replaced the rear shocks and gotten it re-upholstered. Any ideas on an old school design that doesn't use leather or vynal would be appreciated.
