Yeah it should definitely be quite fun. I was told that i should get my distributor re-graphed? anyone know what that involves? or a price maybe?

**** Update : Found my extension. Problem was as expected, selector wasnt lined up. Glad it was that simple. Not easy to line up and get it bolted in the right way with the carpet in the way. grrr
-
I know that, haha. I lost the extension bar for my socket during the conversion and i can't get to the damn nuts.
-
yes the shifter was out of the box so that i could get the box out? the only thing i can think of is if the selector ball thing isnt sitting in the seat in the box?

Hey mate, I'll give you info on my 5k. By the way. I bought it like this, and I'm almost finished putting it into my ke55 4dr, so i havent actually driven it yet, but here's what is done to it anyway. -Head port and polish -Duralite Pistons -Fully balanced bottom end (crank, conrods etc.) -Electronic Distributor -10mm Stainless Steel Custom Leads -Dual 40mm DCOE weber carburettors (Just Been Reco'd.) and soon to have ram tubes/socks. -3 core radiator -Thermo Fan -Extractors -One-piece Unknown size exhaust 2inch-ish? - A cam that is 1/3 bigger than an a9x torana race cam? anyone got info on that? Thats all i can remember for now? Hope that was what you were after? Nathan.

Thanks for the reply man. The box is the same that was on that motor, it was fine before, i didnt even seperate the box and motor, i just swapped them as one. I havent got the clutch cable connected but shouldnt it still be able to be pushed into gear?

Hey guys. I did my 5k ---> ke55 conversion yesterday, i was putting my 5k out of my ke30 into my ke55, anyway it all went relatively smoothly for a first time conversion. One problem i have is, with the gearbox selector, when i move the gearstick it wont go into any gears, it feels like its just stuck in neutral, it wont move forward or backward, just side to side? Any ideas at all? Also, when i bought the car the guy told me that the exhaust ports were all polished but the inlet had a sort of roughness to it, supposedly to produce turbulence and create a better air/fuel mix? is this normal? i've never heard of it thats all? Also, when i take my head off to do the head gasket, will the head need to be machined? is it necessary in all cases or only if it's not looking good with the straight edge? if i take it off to machine it should i cover the engine with something to prevent anything getting in? Thanks for any help! Nathan. |blink|

Who Prefers Beer? Who Prefers Spirits?
KE555k replied to ke rollin 20's topic in Rollaclub Social (Off-Topic)
absinthe = the devils urine. -
The beginning point of the entire arguement has been forgotten and its all been taken out of context. As rolla boy just said, it wasnt about locking the thread, banning a member, PM-ing or any of the rest of it, it was the language used, and the way that the mod came across, if something like this happened In real life, it'd be considered provocative.
-
I don't quite understand what he's trying to say? If he's having a go at the general forum community, then take a look at the mods, they're exercising the power of their assumably 'massive cocks' right?
-
I don't think this is a time for jokes to be honest, tell me where to go if you feel it necessary, but this is a place that i hope i can come and contribute to and derive information from for quite a long while to come, the way i see it and I'm sure others will agree is that something needs to be done about this, so we can nip it in the bud before the forums start to wither away...
-
Look, i don't believe that the intention of the post was to start an all out war between the mods/admins and the general forum users, well, it wasn't my intention anyway. But like its been mentioned above, none of what has been posted in this thread breaks any rollaclub rules, its simply a user stating an opinion, and what now seems like a fair amount of other members are sharing the same view, after all this IS a public forum, free speech does apply. I'd call for the moderators to be as mature as Rolla__Boy has been in his posts, he has not out-right attacked anyone, he hasn't used abusive language or offended anyone in my eyes, and as has already been mentioned numerous times above, this IS a place for friends, information and stories to be told. I hope the mods don't take this as an attack and can take it on board in a positive way to improve this place as a community. Nathan.

I'm going to have to agree with Rolla__boy here, i understand that he could have simply sent you a PM and possibly resolved the matter, but that would'nt have uncovered that this problem ISNT a once off and hasnt just been noticed by one member, it's also proven that this is no kind of personal vendetta, as more the one member shares the same view. In the short space of a day, there has been 3 people already sharing experiences they have, I'd hate to see what this thread would unveil if it were open for a week. I really don't think that this is anything personal, any type of attack, but really shouldn't be taken lightly, as a group that gets represented to the public through stickers and advertising on cars and across the web, it's an important thing to keep peace and good-will up amongst the members of the club, because just remember what makes rolla club such a success and such an informative and useful place to visit is that there's such an abundance of people sharing views and experience as well as their knowledge, It'd be awfully sad to see this good reputation tarnished by one stray moderator.

Being a new member myself, I've noticed this a fair bit around here. Now I'm not normally one to point fingers, not at all actually. But I'm going to make an exception this time because i believe it is in the best interest as we're all represented through this site, whether it be to the public, people just browsing the forums, or to people looking to sell/and get involved with the site. Now of course this isn't just a problem with the moderators, there's some rude and sometimes un-necessary posts coming from general users, HOWEVER, how can be blame anyone for being this way when our moderators. ie. the ones we are being monitored and moderated by, are abusing their power and treating people in this way in the first place. Lead by example as they always say? Well how about we get a decent example being shown by the moderators for a start so there is something to follow. As i mentioned above i don't normally point fingers, but from day one i've noticed that LittleRedSpirit was abit abusive in his role, always quick tempered and first to tell someone they've done something wrong, i don't know whether this is an over-active power-trip or just someone whos tired correcting other peoples mistakes, but if it is they latter, then how about passing on the moderation role to someone who has a bit more empathy and patience, after-all this is a community forum, we are trying to BUILD a community here and represent ourselves in the best way we can, all i see this type of behaviour doing is deterring both new AND old members from posting. Just my two cents.

Amen stu, stay period-correct and stick it out with the 5k!!

post yours madrolla? I'm not doubting i just really wanna see that and save a copy for inspirtation, i'll print it out and put it in my garage, lol. I wish i could get an estimate of what mine will pull..
-
Give them a chance guys, no need for shooting down or discouraging comments at this point, its not an unreasonbale expectation out of a 1.5L engine, but in saying that. Lets see the sheet! i've got a 5k with extractors, full exhaust, twin 40mm webers, ported head and high comp, Pistons, full balanced bottom end and electronic dizzy, can't remember cam but bordering race cam...what would i be looking at?
-
I'd be interested in seeing that also. Not doubting you at all cam and no offence, i just want to save the pic and keep it as inspiration, something to aim for. That's be awesome, i'd be quite intrerested to have a chat to you also to see what kind of mods and things you've got going on, I've got a mildly worked 5k myself, PM me if you've got the time to chat. Thanks champ. :o

Is there any brake upgrade thats relatively simple and not 'custom made' kinda thing also reasonable cheap? If anyones done one or can point me in the right direction? cheers!
-
Thanks rolla boy, just talking to the guy when i bought the car he told me that the hole for the shifter would have to be lengthened? He did the conversion himself in the first place so maybe it is a ke70 box or housing? Thats good to hear about the speedo though! Yeah i was just thinking yesterday, it doesnt look that hard, ive looked at the bolts and everything and it seems like it'd be out within an hour even being a beginner. I'm actually considering even buying my own engine crane. Once again is there anyone whos done this parrticular conversion who wouldnt mind answering a few more of my questions? Thanks heaps guys, your always a great help. Nathan.
-
I'm going to start to attempt my first conversion over the next week or two, originally i was going to get it done by some-one who'd done it before, or a professional, but i think I'm going to try it with a few mates now. I already know that i'll have to cut an extension on the shifter hole for the 5 speed to come through in place of the ol' 4 speed. Is there any other cutting or anything that needs to be done to do this conversion? Also, will changing from a 4 speed to a 5 speed change my speedo? will it make it in-accurate? how do i fix this? anyone done this conversion want to give me any tipsa here or through PM very welcomed, thanks heaps guys! Nathan.

Couldn't find another spotted thread anywhere, so i started this one, basically because i just spotted someone drive past my place. Ke-somethign wagon, like i said it was just a driveby, probably an hour ago 4:30 9th december. Brown in colour, wheels sitting outside guards, looked AWESOME!! had no plates just TRAFFIC on bits of cardboard, if your on here drop me a PM or if you know this person let me know you must live right near me. (Ermington) cheers!! Nathan.

The guy who i bought it off said that he'd get at least 1 person a week asking to buy the seats or leaving notes on the car. haha. I havent thought much about spraying the rest of the dash really. Not a bad idea, i really want to find a centre console to fit it...
-
Thanks man, they came like that, but i love them aswell, they look so clean, if it was me that did them i wouldnt have those ugly speaker pods in the door, but oh well. I painted the instrument cluster to match those door trims too. Its a shame about the bumpers, looks so tough. thanks for commenting

Got the carbies off this afternoon, was a pain in the ass to say the least. I had absolutely NO clearance to get anything that resembled a tool near the freakin bolts, after alot of cursing they're off the car, and they look to be in dcent condition, but who knows about the insides. Also took the bumpers off my car, it looks tough as, i really like it, is it illegal to have no bumpers on?
