well, after much procrastination i have finally gotten around to making a thread dedicated to my 1972 KE20 corolla. i acquired it back in 2007 as a birthday present from my parents. being 17 and having no money it just sat there for 8 months. then one day i decided i needed to start on this project so i could get it done before my 18th birthday. so the car went off to the local mechanic and the diagnosis was not good. it needed new front shocks, the front seats re trimmed, a new bonnet(this one had rusted so bad half the frame had collapsed) and then the big one. the engine had done the big end bearings. it was dead. so i did a bit of research and found Peter Robinson. he is THE corolla man in victoria. sent the car off to him and he did everything for me. i would have loved to do the work myself but i'm not that mechanically adept and have only a small spanner set at home. long story short the car got done and it was on the road on the 9th or april. (4 days after my birthday ) anyway the car stayed like this for a while then by the kindness of other members (stu aka kickin5k) i received a set of 13in mazda rx7 wheels to help with the cornering characteristics. earlier this year i was fortunate enough to purchase a set of custom 14x7 wheels off troy (aka ra28gt). this is how the car sits now. pics: this is how it was when i first got it. then with the rx7 wheels from stu. it's quite dirty in this shot. with the rx7 wheels but clean this time. bored+drunk mates = corolla with a lift kit. new 14's thanks to troy. the good (better?) side. i love how fat the 195/65R14s are in the stock guards. lastly showing hoe good a fit the new wheels are. they are less than my fingers width from the spring cup. i hope all those pics work. looking forward to all your feed back. cheers, alex.

i'd say keep the big TOYOTA in the middle of the boot. i think it looks good with it.

i'd be interested in some kind of cruise. i'd love it if there was a few more rollas out on the roads. i find falcodore drivers tend not to be open to other cars. i end up parking off to one side and not talking to anyone for 80% of the cruises i go on. edit: http://www.viccruiseclub.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=566 i was thinking of going on this. perhaps we could swamp it in corollas.

a friend said he spotted a dark red ke20 with a black bonnet and pumped guards with primer on them. he also said it sounded like a sr20 and went like stink. does anyone know of/have seen this car before? i didn't know of any sr powered 20's in melbourne.

Hiroshima Screamer Cruise! Re-run 1st November
KEhendo replied to Spoolin's topic in VIC / Melbourne
excellent! i hope you don't plan on crashing. :) i'm trying hard to get my car up and going but i'll have to let you know closer to the day if i need to scab a lift off people. all going well i have enough money to get it fixed. my wheels arrive from sa and i will have enough change left for a tank of fuel. then all will be right with the world. :) -
uuuuuuuuuh, so thats you with the purple ke70 thats going around ballarat. lol. i was too slow to put two and two together. i was up there about four/five weeks ago now. first ting that got me was the exhaust note, then it was the paint and finally the mirrors. i was like omg thats so cool and mum was like "what? you meant that loud purple box?" i'm like, yep thats the one. haha.

wow! it's been a while since i have been here, there has been heaps of work done. top stuff! when i first saw the car i thought that you had rocks in your head if you thought it was salvageable let alone a basis for a race car. you have proven me wrong and i am now in awe of your work. hehe. looking forward to further updates. :y:

as parrot said there was a 3k powered clubman down at historic winton. it apeared to be a 70's special. i had a good chat to the owner. he didn't know much about the car as he had bought it just to keep him on the track while he rebuilt his elfin streamliner. he said it made about 120hp at the wheels but this was a safe tune and if he really wanted he could get 140hp from a n/a 3k. didn't get any info about if it had been bored/stroked or any info on the cam he had in it but it sounded like a beast. it is for sale for 22k with trailer but i am unsure if it has sold or not. these are not my photos. just found them on the internet. http://www.flickr.com/photos/comicbook/3586732387/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/comicbook/3586732363/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/comicbook/3586732377/ the guy in the blue and white race suit is the current owner. (sorry for the links, i fail at the internets)

i'd jove to say i'd be there but dunno if i'll have a running car by then. repairs take time when you have no monies. 8/ can i come along in my 'other' car and just look? -
Are My Ears Gonna Bleed If I Go 4 Speed Instead Of 5 Speed?
KEhendo replied to Evan G's topic in General Mechanical
find a 5spd, it's worth it. about a month ago my ke20 (4k 4spd swapped) was a great car, never broken down once. then i decided to go for a drive. bad idea. it spent 4hours (2 hours out and 2 back with 4-5 hour break in the middle) at 110km/h, thats about 5000rpm. it's now dead and i need a new hg. 8/ so you can do the 4spd if you want but you will just change it down the road. -

i think i'm well on the way to having a wheel fetish. 3 sets in 12 months on no money. i'm even considering just buying a ke70 just so i could have a set of starsharks.
