Gonna have to count me out on this one guys. The wife is due to give birth around that time - I think my gonads would be on toast if I decided to go go karting with you guys  Have fun and post the results when it happens PS. the last time I ran a Port Melbourne the kart had no brakes but went like stink in a straight line. Made for a few interesting trips into the hairpin - hello rally flicks. Also crossing the finish line I was forced into the tyre wall nearly taking out the flag waver

Lucky your not considering the Ballarat Indoor Karts, I used to be in the top ten overall times. When I was doing competitions I was one of the twenty A grade rated drivers

If you mean removing the lip around the inside of the guard, a rubber mallet is your friend.

I've only ever paid a slab for a respray..........(including paint)

Maybe I'm weird but I have been buying a lot of Australian Muscle Car lately. Maybe its all the stories my old man told me about the good old days coming out.
-
As the Daytona wasn't his car (it was on loan), he could afford to drive like a dick.........

State rounds are around $20 if you pre enter down here in Vic or $30 on the day. The local club's motorkhanas are getting up to $25 - 30 bucks though :D

When were you there Kanga, as I didnt see you. I was timing on the actual airstrip where they run the drags. When the other officials weren't looking I ran the wagon through one of the tests just to try it out to make sure it was safe :D . Without trying the time I pulled would have put me midfield. This is in a stock VY2 wagon. The old man did it in his diesel Patrol and beat 4 cars!!!!!!! For the last test the ran a big go to whoa which included a big donut at one end. The Daytona ended up finishing backwards into the finish line :D It had me taking a number of steps backwards. My favourite car for the weekend was the late 60's Bluebird - quick and cheap. The Corolla you photographed wasn't a competitor, they were officialling. Its owned by a couple of kids.

Isn't there an issue of 2 pac being highly carciangenic(?). I know my uncle who is a proffessional painter wont touch the stuff without protection where acrilic and enemal he would quite happily spray without any safety gear.

Sorry about the confusion. In the mornings the competitors disapear all over the country side on a navigation exercise. Usually the maps supplied are 50 years old to make things mor interesting :D . There shouldn't be any competitive driving at this stage :D ........ If they are not to lost everyone ends up at the BLCC club rooms at the airport for lunch, then after 2pm the driving tests begin. schedule Last years instructions for navigation section

Not driving in this one  . As it is a road rally you need a registered car so I'm acting as an official (so no photos either). Usually they run similar programs Sat and Sun. Navigation in the morning and driving tests in the arvo. The old driving school is on the right hand side after you cross the runway as you drive into the airport.

This weekend is the BLCC's Winter Classic Rally. Its basically a navigation exercise with some speed tests thrown in. These usually provide some good viewing. All cars will be running at the Ballarat Airport after 1pm both Sat. and Sun. for a number of different tests. One is the traffic school test which involes the cars running around a course on an old bike riding schools roads. They are narrow and can be slippery as they are not used at any other time of the year. The is usually some carnage involved  I will be driving a stopwatch on Sunday so is anyone is free, come and say g'day.

Kanga, you have heard mine run in a motorkhana. Its running hydrolics and I think it revs out OK. Quite often have the shift light on for the entire run (set at 7500 rpm)

Ke70 Suspension Upgrade... Anyone Done This?
coln72 replied to rjenman's topic in General Mechanical
Used Monroe GT strut inserts in my KE35 for year with no problems. Used to break the bottom of the LHS when I ran Monroe GT's on the rear. Never happened when I replaces them with a set of old pump up shocks from my old mans HK Monaro  This was 10 years ago so I expect that the quality has changed if people are having problems now. -
That looks more like a khanacross than a motorkhana. Looks like fun though :y:

Running a KE30 radiator as well in a KE20 with no leaking problems, even with the thermo fans temp probe in the top hose. Had to cut down both hoses as the radiator has been moved back. Could try to tape up the radiator outlets to make the hose a tighter fit. Dodgey but it works.........

I would love to, but there is a slight problem of a baby being due in that week. Shithouse timing I think :y:

A student where I work is an old Rolla fan and has a problem with one of his struts. After cutting his coils one strut has locked solid. There is no give at all. Just wondering if anyone has struck this before because I haven't. Both coils appear to be the same length and the car looks to be sitting level so I can rule out that one coil has been cut to much and the strut has bottomed out. Unless he hasn't installed the bump stop properly I don't know.\ :D

There is a guy in Melbourne (Redwrf knows him well) that has a trailer made out of a caravan. No suspension so it is super low. Deck tips as the car reverses so it doesn't need ramps. I think it is a bit hairy to tow with no car on it - tends to bounce around a bit.
-
$4500 - for a trailer :) $58 for rego  At last something VIC has over QLD. Rego for my car trailer is about $27 a year and it cost me $1000 registered. Old man sold his single axeled car trailer for $250 with a Corolla thrown in.
-
Make sure it can be registered - make sure that it isn't too wide (8 ft max I think), check that it has brakes (depending on size) and that they work, look at the general workmanship, if it has crappy looking welds walk away. Do 6 x 4 trailer have to be registered???? Personally I would spend the extra dosh on a car trailer or something that would be big enough to carry the rolla in case something went wrong at an event.
-
Take your old ones in and nicely ask the man behind the counter to make you some. Think Repco used to have K series leads in stock.
-
Check to make sure your needle and seat in the carby isn't sticking open. Pull off the aircleaner to see if any fuel is dribbling into the carby when the engine isn't running.

Its possible to blow a locker. Having destroyed three I know. Your lucky to be able to drive it home, all of mine involved all of the spider gears being in the bottom of housing :P

The cars my old mans, and he hasn't decided for sure but here goes. The car has no sills - hasn't for years. Owned by an ex and when we stripped it down to paint approx. 10 years ago they were rusted out. It has also been cut and shut at some stage. Has rust in all the usual places as well. Interior is still in good nick. Still has near new carpets in it and the front seats haven't got any rips etc. Mechanically it is pretty good. Had new pistons and rings fitted around 12 months ago along with a rebore (up 60thou). It has a biggish cam of unknown specs, a modified head, 5K carb and 2" exhaust. Has been converted to later stud pattern with KE55 front brakes and KE35 rear axels. Diff is a locked 4.2. Has Monero gas struts and gas shocks in the rear with softened springs. Wheel are 13 x 5.5 hotwires. Everything is ready to compete in CAMS events up to and including autocrosses. Trailer is registered but looks rough. A KE20 only just fits. The fold up ramps need to be forced into the rear bumper to squeeze it on.
