  1. Its not doing something stupid and icing up the carby. My ke35 used to do this all the time when the twins were fitted. End up having to hold it flat in 3rd to stop it missing. Fixed it by running an air pickup close to the extractors.
  2. With the right offset rims you can get 205/60/13's under the back easy :lock: If you want really low at the back, dismantle the leaf pack, put the main leaf in a hydrolic press and straighten so its around 2" less curved, reassemble and fit into car. Leaves will end up curved the wrong way but it will be LOW. Just off the bump stops in my old KE35 anyway :lock_folder: .
  3. Only did the rear leaves as a cheap assed way of reducing oversteer - I could always go back if it was shit. My set up will not suit everyone, but I like it. I don't mind a bit of body roll and I was not competing a huge speeds (max revs in 3rd was the highest) mainly on dirt so I didnt need super stiff suspension. Also I was trying to compensate for a locked diff.
  4. "They might be good but a Briggs and Stratton is probably alot closter to immortal." They don't like it if you remove the governors from them :lock_folder: But anything you can take to the valves with a hammerand a file and survives gets my thumbs up.
  5. Just moved out an inch and up a wee bit. Helped reduce understeer. Kept the rear leaves but removed two leaves from the pack to reduce the spring rate. Stuffed if I know anything about coilovers except that they would be a custom job. Talk to Fook (re coilovers) or Redwrf (KE2? God) as they are into competition a lot more than me.
  6. If its the one that stops the engine running on after it is switched off, hook it up so it is triggered by the ignition. No need to stuff around.
  7. The above was with a 5 speed from a KE70
  8. how heavy is your foot? Used to get approx. 32mpg with 4.3 in a KE35 reving around 3100rpm in 5th (don't quote me on that figure as a few too many brain cells have been killed since Ive had that car :lock_folder: )
  9. Redrill your crossmember to get some -ve camber, tighten the castor bars up as tight as they will go. Not the person to ask about springs as I'm running standard struts and cut springs. If money is no object just get some coil overs.
  10. not too long at 8000rpm
  11. looks good. would be even better with a bit of elbow polish :lock_folder:
  12. don't get performance gain and noise gain mixed up. If its faster against a stopwatch them good luck to you. Running events straight out of the engine pipe (don't ask) did not seem to improve anything either. Best system I had was a set of 4-1 extractors, a 2" pipe that went under the diff housing into a 2nd hand muffler with a 3" pipe welded to it :lock_folder: That gets people scratching their heads about whats in it. Lost count of the "how does the rotary go?" comments
  13. performance gain = s.f.a noise = LOUD had something similar on a motorkhana car and it did nothing.
  14. Ive neve got more than 32mpg out of a Corolla. Changing to a 5K didnt change it, fitting twins didnt change it, changing diff ratios didnt change it much. It was just the way I drove.
  15. Never had an issue though it is a pissy kittle Facet thing. Factory twins actually performed better when I fitted the electric pump. Apart from air locks in the fuel system, there was never a prob when running a Holley red either.
  16. So, it wont hurt to run one with a stock Toyota carb.
  17. An A grade mechanic showed me how to do that one........
  18. KE35 + 5K + sprinter carbs + worked head = still accelerating at 160kmh (when I backed off). Mate had worked a Galant and was telling me how shit hot it was. Followed him one day and he decided to give it a sqirt. Was a little shocked to see me pull out to pass him while we were doing around 150 kmh....... (gotta love slipstreaming :) )
  19. and the windows in a KE35 lift off their rubbers.
  20. Old school remedy 1. take air cleaner off 2. swap number 2 & 3 plug leads 3. hold foot flat and start car It will then back fire up through the carby generally moving whatever shit is in the way. Please take aricleaner off as engine fires are a bitch.
  21. And gasket goo to stop them rattling.........:lolcry:
  22. Comes down to what IROKIN said - drive like a dickhead and cops will come down on you for something. I got away with low suspension, loud exhausts, twin carbies, no pollution gear etc for years cause I drove sensibly most of the time. When I was pulled over I made sure that I was nice and polite to them. never had any probs.
  23. Cut spings falling out is a possability but never happened to me in 15 years. My first car had the springs cut so much that I didnt need a spring compressor to disassemble my struts :lolcry: Use cable ties to hold them in place......
  24. In my young and wilder days, I was street racing an old falcon. Just as I was hitting 6500rpm in 2nd I hear a huge bang. First thing through my mind was "f@$k Ive blown it up" but the guages were fine. Look across and the pricks in the Falcon were pissing themselves after key banging me.
  25. Go to wheel shop and ask them to order the right nuts. Had this prob with a set of rims and a second hand wheel place had the right ones in stock.
