  1. Had good results running a Wade 169 grind in a sinilar set up to the one you plan. Only I was running a 5k. Reasonable idle, good mid range, and it would rev to 7500-8000rpm with no probs. Problem I can't remember the specs :D
  2. Congrats Taz. Hope everything keeps going smoothly for you, Mrs Taz and little Ichabod Get all the sleep you can, its gonna be a luxury.
  3. Both my wife and I are teachers so either one of us would suggest a name and the other would say " No, that kid at school is a shit! Find something else"
  4. Wait till you have to find a name for your third son............ Actually glad to have a girl as it was so much easier to name her.
  5. Congrats Rob. 9 pounds, what the hell were you feeding the wife??!!!????? Glad to hear all is well with everyone and you only have to have two more to catch up :) You only have the drivefr and navigator at the moment, you need a service crew as well.......... Need to link up in 18 years or so we can manage the first all female ARC champion team :)
  6. Didn't do it to the rears, but did refill the front struts with a thicker oil to increase stiffness. Worked well until the oil seals were eaten away. If you do this, use a proper hyrolic oil not engine oil like I used.
  7. only use the rear sway bar if you are running a LSD or locker, or if you are only driving on open sweeping corners. If not you will single spin to a stand still in tight corners. Definitely go for the Commodore wagon shocks, work a treat.
  8. Aluminium bumper brackets, remove guts from headlights, aluminium bolts, remove most of the padding from the rear seat, rewire the whole car only connecting what you really need, remove window winder mechanisms from all doors except the drivers..........
  9. Oh so true. Guess I'm weird, but I have always felt that the rear of a Rolla is too stiff and ended up softening the rear leaves in my KE20.
  10. May run into issues as early blocks have a bolt hole that doesnt line up with later gear boxes. It misses out by half a hole :)
  11. NOTAXI on a VY S COMPLY on a standard Falcon ute????
  12. Corolla's long gone :) Fit a heap of kids in a Grand Carnival though.
  13. Here she is
  14. yep, have 5 in the house  Congrats in advance Rob, number 2????? And HELL NO!!!!!!!!!!! Telling the missus that the fact that there is a spare seat in the car is not a challenge....
  15. Nice name, we actually thought of that name as well.
  16. Well it finally happened. Number 4 child arrived this morning at 10am. This time we got a little girl to go along with our 3 boys  Names Ella Louise and she weighed in at 3.3kg or 7 pound 4 for you more mature people out there.
  17. a bit of modifying, but try running a second bar. Had a mazda one fitted to my KE35 as well as the stock one and that made a huge difference to the front end.
  18. Yes use those rubber mounts for sure and make sure its mounted under your car not inside of the boot.
  19. Ever considered Dragway wheels, they used to custom make wheels to suit whatever you wanted.
  20. If you are going to wake up a k motor you need to change the cam. Carby & exhaust will make a small difference (they did in my '75 Corolla when lined up against my mates near identical model). Wouldn't throw away the Rolla though. When I first started running my KE20 it was powered by a standard 3k fitted with a 2" exhaust. The rest of it was basically standard. Was asked to bring along the car to an event that was happening locally so they could try out the stage for a classic car rally. One of the organisors was there in his Subaru WRX. Both of us were used to do some practice runs before the event started. It was surprising on a course that favoured power, the Rolla was only 3 sec off the WRX. Even when I stuffed up a gear change, got third instead of first. Killed the acceleration out of a hairpin. The look on the WRX owners face was funny as he raced to the timer........ Never did beat that prick over the years. As I made the Rolla quicker he made the WRX quicker. In the end the time gap was always around the 2 to 3 sec over 2k's of dirt track, even after it was modded to full STI specs.
  21. I'll be taking the kiddies to the miniture steam trains - so I wont be their in the block of flats (Kia).
  22. ^^^^^^ What I have been saying! In fact with the factory twins, the extra pressure helped the performance.
  23. Had my roady hooked up to a "ignition on" source but my racer was wired through a switch. Great for getting fuel into the carbies after sitting for a while. For CAMS events, it is a requirement for the pump to be hooked up via the oil pressure switch, but no one ever checks.....
  24. In my experience, based on over 10 years of experience, tells me that for a Facet a regulator will not be needed for a standard carby (or carbies in my case). Shame you were not closer as I still have two in the shed - used to get them for nothing from my old mans work :jamie: Yes they are noisy. Could still hear it in my daily when it was mounted under the boot floor on rubber insulator things but it wasn't really bad. the radio would drown it out easily. Moved it from under the parcel shelf because of the noise. On my club car it didn't bother me so it was mounted solid to the boot floor, that was noisy but I didn't have any interior etc in that one.
