  1. .....but don't let the cops find any of the pollution gear missing. They are familar with the old ball bearing in the hose trick. You have to be a bit cleverer than that
  2. good to hear the aussie anthem played at the presentation
  3. before getting rid of the fuel cut - try hooking the wires off it to the battery to see if it works. By the way, just how small is this smallish cam, because my 5k would idle at 1000-1200rpm with my cam and factory twin carbs. It might just be where it idles?????
  4. Bought on for $90 to get a rust free guard for my 20. Thing was complete and in good condition. Just a broken tail light and dented tail gate from memory. Ended up giving it away. Then I found out how rare they are
  5. trial fit an electric pump to see if that helps you out.... If it is occurring with two different pumps it can only mean that the lobe on the cam that drives the pump is stuffed of there is a blockage some where else, maybe in the tank pick up. Possibly blow some air through the fuel lines to see if it helps.
  6. Thats so tempting..............
  7. For a street car stay WAAAY clear of anything that makes power at 9000rpm. You will get sick of having to rev the nuts off it all the time to get anywhere. What you want is torque and the easiest way to get it is to go bigger. For $3500, I'm guessing that you could do a 7K conversion (1.8l) which looks identical to the stocker, so Mr policeman wont hassle you everytime that you get pulled over.
  8. Replace the SR badge in the top one with a Corolla badge and that is the grill I mentioned. It was the one my KE35 had.
  9. Have that and another different KE20 one and somewhere I have a ke3* one as well
  10. We have solved the problem - don't run Monroe GT shocks
  11. This may be a bit freaky but soften the rear up. Had a KE35 that tramped like a bitch which had Monroe GT Gas shocks and a KE20 that wouldn't tramp at all which had softened rear leaves and standard shocks. Can't say that this was the cure as there were a few too many other differences.
  12. here is one of mine, but she is 2 months older now
  13. Cheap easy mods - cold air intake - play around with the accelerator pump linkage (love to tell you more but gotta have some secrets  ) - remove all engine driven accessories (fan, fuel pump) change to electric. - for short periods of time, put a switch in to stop the alternator from charging - thinner oils - crank your timing up, change springs in dizzy Or bolt in a 5k
  14. I've never done it either but because the temperatures are lower, there is less "damage" to the diff gears. eg they don't become weaker - and to make it a single spinner again all you have to do is melt out the metal
  15. I agree, weld it. We welded the spider gears onto the carrier. Never managed to break an axle in over 12 years, but lost a few centers though. If its to be used on the road, don't even think of welding though. A while ago there was talk of how to convert your standard diff to act like a lsd.
  16. I remember a long time ago in Street Machine mag. that featured a 1/8th scale radio controlled sprint car complete working v8. That one ran glow plugs instead of an ignition system.
  17. Thats not a dirty car, this is a Dirty car
  18. Instead of welding you fill the centre with molten lead or aluminium. A lot less heat stress on the gears and should last longer.
  19. Hasn't anyone heard of aluminium or lead filling???????
  20. Umm, no. There is a KE35 grill (early imported ones??) that is looks like a honeycomb that will be easier to fit.
  21. Why change your box unless you have to. A K series box is not as bad as made out if you know how to shift correctly. In over 12 years of driving and competing in Corolla's with modded 5k's (twins, cam, comp, exhaust etc), I only ever broke one box and that was through operator error (hit first gear at 50km/h).
  22. Just machine the ke3* axels down by a few mm and slot them into the ke20 housing. Simple and cheap.
  23. Have you tried tightening up the adjuster on top of the steering box????? Loosen the lock nut, tighten the bolt thing with a screw driver and re lock. Should take out some of the slop in the steering box. I have spoken to people who have had their ball joints etc injected and they seem to have had no issues. don't know how many or what type of k's they do either......
