lol good metaphor use! :P

i'll have a check of that ... sounds like a probable answer! I guess its not hard to adjust the butterfly ? when its cold it does the exact same thing ... i'll definitely check the position of the butterflies ... Cheers, Dyzza hey to reiterate ... does that mean that the secondary butterfly is adjusted to be open a little bit (in this case - maybe its sitting open enough to fuel the motor to rev this much ...) so upon full throttle both sides open fully without any of the secondary being left partially closed ? Anywho thats my interpretation ... feel free to correct me ! Cheers guys

hey yeah i have pulled it apart and cleaned what i could with carby cleaner and all that, i have never been shown how to adjust the float level ... how do you do that ? What sort of problems could an incorrectly set float level give ? Cheers
-
supposedly this carby is in good working order. its nice and clean with no loose throttle parts or any of that ... Its not that i can't 'adjust' the idle - I'm not given the chance. its revving at 3000RPM with the idle screw at the least possible - the stopper isn't even touching the screw. The throttle linkage sits at the closed position (no tension in the accelerator cable) but it still does it ... Cheers

hey hmm i don't think that will make the difference ... Do these automatic chokes control the air/fuel ratios at all ? I thought all they did was close off airflow coming down the barrels and hence having a higher fuel to air mixture going into the motor until it was warm enough ... then it opens and the mixture goes to something more appropriate ... They are a bit of a hassle to disconnect, but i will give it a go at some point ... Any other suggestions people ? Cheers for the reply Tedmeister Dyzza

hey guys well i have sorted out a major air leak, so that problem should be all gone now ... The new problem - the car free revs - even with the idle screw set at the lowest, it revs at over 3,000RPM. This is with the mixture screw set about 1 1/2 turns out. This is with the throttle gear returning to the closed position (e.g. the throttle cable isn't tight and holding the throttle open. ..) The jets in it are 130 primary, and 132 secondary. It is an automatic choke model, but the choke valve is all the way open so should have no affect ... The motor is a 4k .... ARG! ANY help would be great guys, cars been off the road for almost a week now :P Cheers, Dyzza (this problem is now fixed ... scroll down the bottom for the new one - motor knocking~!)

alrighty i've put in a new gasket, spent a few hours mucking round only to start the car and find it doing the exact same thing ... i took the top off the carby (to take a look at the jets) and found out that there were no top jets (are these the idle jets >? ) ... i put these in from my original weber ... and the car now barely starts at all ... It barely revs, you have to pump the accelerator repeatedly. I can rule out the timing being off because i haven't played with that, and it was fine up until i took the old carby off .. The carby is supposedly in working order, i just can't figure out whats wrong with it. Anyways, thats enough whinging on my behalf ... Cheers

hey guys well i have just replaced my horribly inefficient 32/36 dfv (due to it being in need of rebuild/overhaul ... ) with a nice 32/36 dgav (water choke). ... I put it on the car after a few hours of cussing and what not, and realised i have forgotten to put on a gasket between the carby and the adapter plate! So the car revs, it seems to idle pretty well, but when you drive it it won't go past about 2700RPM without cutting out (or even if you put your foot down it wants to cut out). It will pick up again once the revs drop down. Is this likely air getting in between the carby and the adapter plate screwing up my air/fuel ratio ? Any other possible suggestions guys? its driving me nuts... I'm just disappointed she isn't running smooth like i was hoping :y: ... Cheers for ya help Dyzza

Welcome to Rollaclub! Thanks for including the model of your car, other important details (mags, or profile of tyres on rims ...), and of course thanks for thanking us@!

damm straight i don't know if turning 21 this year means I'm getting old, but I'm after comfort too. This means eliminating road noise (I'm getting good at that) , new suspension, and some laid back rims for a squishier ride (oh an air con after the engine conversion ...). its a daily driver and the roads out here are bumpy so yeah it drives a man nuts i tells ya ... Dyzza
-
here here yeah the back rides pretty rough. out my way in the sticks the roads are pretty crap so its startin to get to me ... my mate lives on a farm and has a 2km driveway. the first half of it is dirt with a few sik bends for slideways action, then the road gets bumpy ... 1st gear material. 'spose it pays to drive slower, the other week i came round one corner and the road was covered by cows... almost ran into some beef! Dyzza you don't happen to have a foto at all do ya ... Cheers
-
hmm shweet ... i wanna get some the same as those in the above pictures or 14s if they make them. Dyzza

Champion! joisus 24 psi ? thats hell low ... makes sense with what you were saying about poorer quality of standard suspension ... these things weren't an issue back in the 70s. I'd be running about 30psi in a set of 13s with normal profile tyre. Wouldn't something as low as 24psi cause excessive tyre wear? Fricken jap nuts Dyzza
-
oh here's a better angle ... Yeah nick i found out that the last owner chopped the front suspension for some stupid reason :locked: ... the back is adjustable konis, i guess he ran out of money before he could do the front ? Cheers again ... hmm point taken! I was tryin to avoid low profile tyres, as these have less travel between the road or bump and the rim itself .. hence a bumpier ride. I haven't heard of sidewall flex, I'm guessing its just where the tyre will flex sideways when you hit a bump, making it a bit bouncy ? Dyzza

hey fellas i found this pic in the 'my pictures' folder under 'rollas'... i saved it off rollaclub (i think) ages ago. Does anyone know what rims these are ? I'm heaps sick of the rims i have at the moment ... The rims on my car are 15s and i'm just sick of the crappy ride they provide ( well my f@$ked front suspension may have somethin to do with it ...) . I'm also sick of paying $125+ for a half decent tyre. The solution: drop my car on its nuts, and wack some hot 13 x 7s or somethin on it :locked: . These cars looks tops with only a set of 13s on them, just like this foto (courtesy of whoever owns it :) ) : What do y'all think ... Cheers Dyzza

LPG used to be like 33c a litre. I feel sorry for everyone who has done LPG conversions to pick up on the cheap fuel, than the asshole fuel companies or whoever up the price of LPG to the price petrol was in the mid 90s! \m/

well my car has been dubbed dyzza by mates who see me drivin down the road. my plates are DYZ24 so they think 'oh there's dyzza' as in the car, doesn't matter if its actually me drivin or not ... If i had a choice, i'd name the car Rare \m/

damm dude its things like this that discourage us all from even bothering having a nice presentable car :y: ... maybe i should try a darker less obvious colour when i get a respray :D ... Heaps sorry to hear dude
-
yeah mine's like that with the weber... gotta rejet it. it still has jets suited for the 2L escort its off! make sure you get smaller jets for the weber when you get it, somethin like .135 and .125s ... I'm gettin mine in a couple of days, i'll let ya know how it goes. At the mo' mine is luggy as down low then just picks up after 2 grand ... then WHOOSHKA (or whatever it is a 4k will do when you boot it ... hehe) Dyzza woo 100 posts

hmm makes me think but... my old laser i was driving (5 speed 1.5L '81) did 2,950~ at 100ks... I know its a FWD, what ratio would that be ? 3.9:1 ? It just seems like a huge difference in RPM going from 3.9 in the laser to 4.1 in the rolla - and gaining ~550 RPM. The gearbox may even be a different ratio as well ... Cheers dude!
-
hey guys well i have a sneaking suspicion that the last bloke who put the 5 speed into my ke30 didn't change the diff over - the car was an auto previously. The car rev's at about 3,500 at 100 clicks in 5th, with 195/50 15" rims on it. Could i be right assuming it has the 4.3:1 auto ratio? If it does, i might hunt down a 4.1:1 borg warner diff to replace it. It just revs too high for my liking, and is freakin loud. Cheers, Dyzza

hey yeah i had a blast today. the cruise was mad, got to meet heaps of people and check out some sik cars! Bring on next cruise :rocknroll: Dyzza
