My guess is that cam shaft snapped because lack of oil, not cause of the dizzy.

Kick down cable should have slack in it.

No worries Rob, it was bloody cold out there. So we spent a little time this weekend going through the car after the last event showed a few problems. It appears there was a bent ball joint that we didn't know about, now fixed, but this also gave us the chance to have a look at the bump steer. Wasn't as bad as we had thought but there is room for improvement, which we'll get around to soon. So with the front end apart we've given the car new wheel bearings, greased all the brake slides, inner syphericals and blead the brakes. Tony removed the front bumper for repair after a little nudge into a bank, and straightened out the bar bracket. We have a rally in a couple of weeks, so it'll be interesting to see if we can finally finish one in the new car. fingers crossed....

it's 8mm and you'll need a deep socket to get it off!!

4Agte Filling Catch Can Intermittently.
TRD ke70 replied to kickn5k's topic in AExx Corolla Discussion
I meant to say, ours is a smallport head with the drain in the back of the head. Good luck, hope you fix it, as i know how much of a pain it is. -
The other thing would be the cam over lap will effect static compression ratio as well. So if you have a reasonable sized cam, 11-11.5 should be ok on 98 octane.

You have a cast iron head on a 3TC, i'd like to see that, should be an Alloy head.

4Agte Filling Catch Can Intermittently.
TRD ke70 replied to kickn5k's topic in AExx Corolla Discussion
I meant to reply to my post the other day concerning this, as you know we had been struggling with the same problem. We have been through all the catch can ideas, as well as venting from the left rocker cover, after a bit of pissing around we removed the center bung on the head and rev'd the engine to over 6500rpm, found that the oil level in the head drastictally increased once over 6500, this led me to think oil pressure. We had increase the pressure relieve valve tension, this was not the way to go. At 6500rpm oil pressure was over 90 PSI and i'd be guessing oil volume to the head would have increased as well. Coupled to this we have a brand new crank and brg's, so it's pressure would have been high already. Try it and see if you have the same problem, we think we have fixed ours by reducing the pressure relief back to standard. Because the oil pump is driven off the crank, there's no need to increase the pressure relief. Let us know what you find, it appears to be a common problem on highly tuned 4AG's. -
3spd only! it's too early for a 4speed trans.
-
The fix was related to oil pressure, 4age's DON'T need the oil pressure relief increased. HP?? i might keep that one to myself at the moment, i may share it when we finish developing the engine.

Just back from rally QLD, which has given us a little motivation. Tony and myself were up there servicing for a couple of teams. Also got to see my mates Group B Celica in the flesh. Ran the car on the dyno tonight to see if we have sort out our venting issues, it appears we have. http://youtu.be/-5qMdPP8B9s

so you now have 4 wheel disc's? if so you need the brake proportioning valve to go with that setup, or pull your one apart and f**k with it.
-
304 cams? What are you using the car for? unless you know what you are doing in the way of porting the head and tuning the ECU, these cams are way too BIG. They'll kill all bottom end power, idle will be very rough, if at all.

T50 To Replace 4Speed On 4K In Ke55 Coupe
TRD ke70 replied to Slow Joe's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
this should help you, it was covered recently. http://www.rollaclub...bolt-up-to-t50/ post #7 -
Yip. They (Yoko's) had good straight line traction but not a lot of sideways traction. The problem isn't the tyres, the road surface at Hirstglen is really hard on tyres, everyone was suffering from the same problem. This happen the first time we went there as well. Hoping to get some hards for the next round and see if they help.

Good day today. Windscreen is back in and sealed up nicely, got the inside of the boot all painted, along with the boot and mould for the lower panel. Hopefully glass up the rear panel tomorrow. Fuel tank, tail ights, wiring and all the brackets installed into the boot as well. Trying to get the car onto the Dyno this week. We'll be picking up the new tyres next saturday, we managed to distroy 6 tyres in only 40km's at Hirstglen.

Check the cam timing, if this isn't right then your ignition timing won't be right.

http://www.probolt-australia.com/ is the place i get my bolts from Stu. They come out of the Uk. 35psi, :o Great effort!! Your welcome with the info, hope it help ya.

Front screen has been removed so it can be resealed, for some reason the seal failed and was letting water in. Windscreen guy should have it done this week. Back end is almost ready for paint, hoping to do that on saturday along with the fiberglass rear panel. Also think we have the oil breather problem finally sorted, apparenty 4AGE's, when they are highly stressed fill up the RH rocker cover and dump the oil out the breather pipe, so we've baffled the LH rocker cover and now have our breather out that side, reason being, is the LH side has 2 oil returns and a huge vent between the head and the sump. fingers crossed that it's sorted this problem.

we once drove our rally car on gravel with formula R's on it, surprised how much traction it had.
