  1. why don't you bolt it on and slot it as well then you can adjust it if need be.
  2. there is a difference in some oil pumps between a 5k and 4k, the oil pump body is 3mm larger. saying that i think it's the early 4k which had the small body, there's also a bolt on oil pick up type you can get, these were in some vans but i have seen one on a 3k before. not real common but they are out there.
  3. i'd be checking the drive on the bottom of the dizy to make sure it's not worn, sloppy or the pins about to break. the next thing would be the pressure relief valve on the pump to make sure thats not sticking, while you've got the sump off check ALL the bearings just to be safe. i'd be interested to see what the problem is???
  4. good plan, i had the same in my starlet in NZ with twin carbs, lightened flywheel, exhaust, and cam and it use to shit on rotaries. new flat top pistons can be brought in Aus for around $150 a set with sizes up to 1mm oversize. if you do bore it to 1mm oversize make sure you have a good cooling system as there is a increase in temp. the 4k head is a good idea as you can shape the chamber better. good luck with the engine.
  5. there is 5K engines with flat top(very small dish) pistons out there, how you tell them is under number 1 spark plug hole there's no alloy lump sticking out, that's the best way of knowing what piston you have without pulling the head off it. if you put a 4k head on to one of these engines you'll end up with a healthy compression ratio. i think the 5k engine i gave nick had flat tops in it.
  6. i was working on an AE 86 with s13 front end in it. don't know if it would go into a ke35 though.
  7. good buy, if you need any techincal info, i've got heaps of stuff. just PM me.
  8. Ebay corolla it's in Gympie
  9. sorry mate they are only 14 x 5.5's, i ran around the yard looking at everything that would fit and there all 5.5's. i was sure that i had 6" ones on my van before i put the mags on =)
  10. yip, i'll check out what they want for them and let you. i think we have about 3 yr39 townace's there at the moment. i'll take the camera to work and get a photo or 2 as well.
  11. why do you want corona rims widened to 6" ???? you can buy 92-95 townace rims which are 14 x 6, i chucked my ones away when i fitted the mags to the van.
  12. i thought i'd give everyone plenty of notice this time. the final round of the KCF short course rally series is been held on the 5th of Nov. this will be a good round to go to, as Tony(TRD) is leading the series outright. he'll be charging hard, to finish in an outright placing for the series he'll have to finish no less that 3rd outright, there is an extremely small chance of him taking the series outright. a 5K 1500cc KE70 Corolla winning the series outright, that would be amazing!!! should be a good day. i expect to see Nick and simon there this time. :lmao:
  13. i use Azureus, which is a bit torrent client. you can get everything including Autodata CD's and some car manuals. music, porn, programs and movies and soooo much more.
  14. i'll be looking forward to meeting you in person, i may even have a vehicle you can use while you're here. Maybe a bit noisey, twin round headlight, TRD uprited rally car, be OK??? but seriously, let us know closer to the time and i'll see what i can do. we seem to have a few spare vehicles around here you could use.
  15. a little more info would help, like what have you removed from the front suspension or replaced or adjusted, it doesn't change by it's self. removing almost any suspension part can upset the alignment, more than likely you're seeing toe in and not positive camber, put a tape measure across the front wheels and it'll tell you if it's toe'd in or not.
  16. right on the money there jamie, we've had to drive the rally car to and from events before and believe me there's always a fight over who's driving the service vehicle, no one wants to drive a noisey f@$ken rally car 100+kms.
  17. are bolt in cages still legal??? if so what happens if you unbolt the cage and drive around without it in the car? wouldn't that make the car illegal, because it's been plated for a cage??? f@$k it, just weld a whole cage in there and tell the passenagers to walk or buy there own f@$ken car.
  18. i have this one sitting in the workshop at the moment getting the x member fixed. now has a black top engine in it. nice to drive as well, it's got the nissan brakes on it too.
  19. NO!!!!
  20. i was being nice, but you're right it's worth f@$k all. looking carefully at the photo, they have lifted the roof of the inlet port and then cut and welded the inlet manifold to the base plate, so the head has been flowed but you'd be hard pushed to see 150hp out of it. you could buy a standard 7k for less an $1200 and get more torque.
  21. if you still can't get if off Teddy just bring it over, we have a rattle gun here that doesn't like bolts, it'll get it off no problem.
  22. he has got his hand on it. quote: Estimated 150+ hp and as for 10 grand spent on it, everything would have to be gold plated. TRD bits aren't that expensive, there are a lot better cams out there than the old TRD grinds, the sump doesn't look like it's been modified for upriting. he claims TRD forged pistons 78mm, TRD never made forged pistons for 4k engines, they were just a good casting. it's worth about $3000, i'd say someone ripped him off with the machining and port work.
  23. mmmm.... may have to contact friends in japan, could have the holy grail  of TRD bits, the uprite bellhousing.
  24. i've only found one good use for these little round fuel saving devices, and it involves standing in a room full of homo's and needing something to protect your freckle with.
  25. wait until you have to replace something like the power steering rack, or the ABS plays up. badly designed is all i can say. i've done alot of work on MX6's and don't like them. :jamie:
