  1. We won the mainland rally 1300cc championship in this car in 1992.
  2. Depends on what engine you get, there are a couple of types, one has dished pistons and the other has flat tops, and if you are really lucky you may find one that has solid lifters as well. The flat top engine will benefit from a 4k head, with the extra compression.
  3. Well it is a TRD uprite, and that does help a lot, the longer intake runners made the engine very torque-y. The final engine has, standard valves, CB4 springs, but only the outer, double valve springs can rob power from the engine, the bottom end has 4age pistons and rods, yes it can be done!! standard crank, custom flywheel, a kelford camtech camshaft, which i don't think they grind anymore, you wouldn't want it, it is huge!! it is a 43/78 cam, with 11.5mm of lift at the valve. 40mm side draught dellorto's, head was ported by our self's, mmm the engine was made to produce torque not hp!! Only ever got one dyno figure on an earlier engine, running like shit, almost a flat battery, and f@$ked alternator, and 91 ulp and it was 90hp, but the torque figures were huge. PM me if you need anymore info. chris
  4. same stroke as a 4k(73mm) but the bore is 80.5 mm, 5.5 mm bigger. They use the same crank as the 4k, just a bigger bore and stronger block.
  5. Thanks Mitch, sorry about the quality of the photos, were taken with a phone.
  6. Well this weekend was back to work on the new rally car. Tony got the bonnets pins fitted after f@$king a set of Sparco ones, the Sparco pins were made smaller than the nuts they supplied with the pins, as soon as you tightened them up they stripped the threads on the pins, shit f@$ken crap!!! Ended up using our Jap ones, which were perfect. Started running the fuel and brake lines inside the car, and under the bonnet too. Starting to look a little more like a car now!!
  7. And Jap ones are lighter again, they have no intrusion bars in the doors.
  8. ok if you don't know how to do this, maybe get a workshop manual to set the float level. It will also have all the info about the carby in there as well. unfortunately not everything in a car can be done by someone with no training or without the correct information. Some stuff you just can't explain over forums!
  9. check your fuel pump pressure going into the carb, should be about 2-3 psi, then check your float level, next check the power enrichment valve, it's the one that sits in the bottom of the float chamber, this is NOT the main jets.
  10. thanks, we're hoping she'll be a weapon. Thinks have been a little slow happening on it as we a fitting a roll cage to a Mitzy rally car for a friend of ours, hoping to have that finished this weekend so thinks should really start to move a long. More parts have arrived. Mmmm, nice new clutch, good for 250hp.
  11. at the bottom of the page and to the left are the timing marks for a 4k. Factory.pdf
  12. sounds like the clutch plate has failed!!!
  13. Because they are factory fitted to k series cabies, also known as a fuel cut off solenoid. It shuts off fuel to the idle circuit when you turn the ignition off, stops the engine running on. They do shit them self's a lot. Oh sorry welcome, also for what engine? A little bit more info is always good
  14. Things are going to slow down a little now, as we have taken on a job of fitting a Rollcage to another rally car. Had some more parts turn up, finally bonnet pins turned up too.
  15. yeah it seems that way, really only spending one day in the weekend on it. But most holidays we spend working on it. The hardest bit is trying to find all the parts needed. With the body all painted, it does seem to be going together a lot faster. Yip, we'll add you the list for rides.
  16. :P You're a funny guy, i was hoping you knew how to tune the antenna for uhf radios.
  17. How come you know so much about it? The converter is for FM and it's called a band expander, i have one in my van.
  18. and if we finish the rally car before you finish the blue car i'll :P
  19. So have you done ANYTHING to this since you've been back?
  20. Maybe you like been licked?? :blinks: :P  Only one of the fans will be going on, they are nice low K JDM fans as well, didn't come off a 2 million km camry. I have thought about extra lightening holes, we'll see what happens!!!
  21. Side drafts are the only way to go!! more power, more torque and if tuned right aren't hurry on fuel. The air doesn't have to turn corners in the manifold like a downdraft, just don't go too large with the venturi size, around 32 - 34mm is good for a 5k. And the sweet, sweet sound that only comes from multiple throttles. Once you've had them you'll never go back. They are easy to setup too. Dellortto's are better for throttle response and torque, but the Weber is better for an all out RACE ENGINE!!!
  22. Some more bits have turned up. Mounting brackets for the radiator, XT 130 LCA's and themo fans, also for the radiator. :P
  23. yeah, just like your blue car is up for sale!!!! :) Also has a big hairy guard dog attached to it.
  24. mmm, not a good place to post this, should have been it the "wanted to buy"
  25. Yeah Rob, the clubs are the best for the information, they have been though it all before. If i remember rightly, when we done the Foster rally a couple of years ago, there was 2 ke30's running, both had nice roll cages, so i guess it won't be to much of a problem. You could try getting on to some of the club forums and asking the questions on there. Most rally people are all to happy to help as our sport isn't exactly thriving at the moment.(thanks to cams)
