  1. That's alright Trev, have been called a lot worse, and most of the time they are right! :lolcry: On the Corolla front: had to remove the gearbox on Wednesday, engine had an oil leak. Brand new rear main seal was leaking!! Hoping to finish the mould for the sump guard this weekend, so could have a nice carbon/kevlar sump guard next weekend!! Thanks Jimi, hoping to drive it real soon, have had it running a few times over the last week and it sounds stronger and stronger every time we run it.
  2. if you don't have ANY fan Speeds, it'll be because it doesn't have power to the fan motor. Fuses maybe alright but there is also breakers in behind that kick panel, they round with a silver top, pull it out and bridge the connection and then try the fan on full speed. If that doesn't work get yourself a test light and see if there is any power getting to the fan on HIGH speed. The reason i say high speed as the resistors are bypassed when it's on full. If it doesn't work on full/hi speed then the resistors won't have f@$k all to do with it, it's a power supply problem. good luck mate
  3. Thanks Trev, my last name is scott!! :lolcry: my first name is Chris, also know by other names that i won't repeat! :lolcry: good to see you survived the floods mate!! Yeah Jimi, she's tight under there and some how i have to put heat shield on the floor. co-drivers get hot feet apparently!
  4. Thanks Jimi and Willis. We didn't manage to get the bumpers finished to day, Tony is now working on making moulds for glass bar ends now!! :hmm: Seemed to think they'll be lighter than the originals, with only one layer or glass. I've finished the mounting of the light bar, decided on just modding the one we have and not making a light pod. Had a closer look at the exhaust today, nice bit of work, just have to wait and see if it handles the pounding it's going to get.
  5. Come on Dave, you know alloy bolts are a good thing!! :lolcry: Started on the mounts for the light bar today. I need to do a few mods to it and the bumper, but should work out good. Tony has finished the mounting of the rear bumper, so tomorrow they'll get chromed. Can't wait to see how they come out. :hmm:
  6. need some more info!! does the fan work on the highest setting? if so then it's what they call the thermistor screwed into the side of the fan motor housing, pull it out and you should see 3-4 coils of wiring, some of those will be burnt out. replace it as these aren't repairable! If it doesn't work on the highest setting then it could be a fuse or a circuit breaker, i think they are under the left hand kick panel.
  7. 1. yes 2. no 3. no
  8. More alloy bolts have arrived, thought the bonnet pin bolts were just to heavy :lolcry: So i have brought some alloy ones with alloy nylock nuts. Lots of smaller jobs will be at attempted this weekend, as well as the construction on the sump guard mould.
  9. Think he's asking for CAM timing info dude!!
  10. Another earth lead to the engine from the body, that's why your clutch line is heating up, it's the only earth the engine has!!
  11. The engine code is on the block in big letters, there is actually 4 different engines for that model. But the timing belts look to be the same across the models, just a difference in if it has a manual or auto tensioner. Anyhow here are the timing belt diagrams, you have the engine in front of you so you should be able to work out what you have. Timing belt with auto tensioner.pdf Timing belt with manual tensioner.pdf
  12. there is two different tensioners in them!! Year would be good too!! C18NZ should be the engine number!! i have the diagrams, just need more info.
  13. need an engine number or code to be any help!!
  14. Changed a gearbox and clutch on the rally car before the start of a rally in 10 minutes. Changed it from using a T-50 to a K-50!!
  15. motors change over pretty easily, gearboxes are the same if Hilux, van boxes are different.
  16. Our old uprite used a GTIR Pulsar rad and the new car uses a SV21 camry rad. +1 for an Alloy rad!!
  17. Same here, just need to get it rego'ed and tune it.
  18. Thinking about a jet unit to go into the rolla now!! :lolcry:
  19. No dyno at this stage, need to run it in and run an event or two. And that could be a while away with all the roads that are now f@$ked!! :glare: Yours sound great as well, i'll be interested to see how quick it is, as a friend of mine wants to rally a 86 with a Beams in it.
  20. Thanks Snot for the vote. With the floods in Brissy, I got the day off work, so what better way to spend it than working on the car. Tony had dropped it off to get the exhaust done on Monday, to my surprise it was ready today. So we thought we'd see what it sounded like with a decent exhaust. Sorry about the quality. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkwAgZ-y_mg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggJ8lnTm_x8
  21. Thanks Brad, but i have other ideas. :lolcry: Snot, i think there's better cars out there, but thanks for the vote. Dave, yip, you bet there'll be a place on the crew for you.
  22. bit of a slow day. Got the back bumper released from the mould and looks great. Strange thing is the bar ends don't quite fit as well as they should.(Taiwanese bar me thinks) Never mind Tony will smash them off!!! Loaded the car for it's trip to the exhaust shop as well.
  23. Do a compression test, start with the basic's, if you have good compression, move on to the next thing. Does it run rough at hi-speeds, or is it only when it's idling? Point gap should be 14-16 thou= 49 - 54 degrees, not 46!!
  24. Heat it up once then let it cool down over night, then re-torque it STONE COLD!! (Alloy heads are ALWAYS re-torqued cold) Make such you back each bolt off individually, don't just try to get more tension out of the bolt straight off!! If it was me, I'd re-torque it again at 500k's.
  25. Got heaps done today. Tony has cleaned up the front bumper and is now trying to fit it to the car. Grip taped the drivers floor, looks nice and clean. Found a place for the warning triangles to sit and velcro'd the OK boards to the inside back doors. Glassed up the rear bumper, so that'll be ready to come out of it's mould tomorrow. Screwed the front stone tray on for the last time and also fitted the drivers inner guard liner. Also cable based the battery cables down. And last but not least, the Corolla got it's DX badge!! :o Very close to having this on the road, i thinking within a month now, if not sooner.
