The detective spotted it was a rally car straight way, and was wondering why it didn't have plates on it. It's on full rego as well. he was a good bloke, spoke to Tony for over an hour and still no ticket! :lolcry: Snot, rally is on the 19th of this month, sorry to be the bearer of bad news!

Yeah that's the one at Ballart!! We're running the Celica for thew 2wd series, should be fun. Thanks for the offer of servicing, but i have that under control, at this stage. The Corolla is REGO'D!!! Has made it's first trip under it's own power, apparently it needs a wheel alignment!! :lolcry: Tony made it into the driveway and was stop by a detective, wondering what he was doing! cheers chris

Thanks, have been rallying all weekend so i had my head in the right place to see it. :lolcry: Unfortunately it wasn't a good weekend for me!!

just a power to the positive side of the coil, the coil negative goes to the dizzy. and hopefully it starts. the dizzy/ points is the switch/contacts to spark the coil. hope like hell it starts it!!

Easy mistake to make, but surprised you guys didn't pick up on it :o If it fixes his problem then great, that's what we are here for, to give advice and to help other rolla members. Fresh eyes always help!!!
-
why would you run the negative side of the coil to the battery? :bash: take it off, you are just shorting the coil out!!

I have to ask, why won't/can't you run your car on E10? I've heard that if it's EFI it can run on E10. Carby cars shouldn't run on E10 all the time as the seals and and fuel lines won't last. Thought's ???

sorry just read that you have webbers, check the float levels are correct as well.

They aren't that hard to rebuild, a few bearings, a inch lb torque wrench, and a new collapse-able spacer, and a good workshop manual.

I'm guessing this guy hasn't been to Targa Tas before? A/C is only needed to defog the windscreen down there. I'd be interested to see how it does it.

I can see the reason behind PWR steer, but A/C in a rally car??? Anyhow, sump guard is all finished and looks great, you can jack the car off it with out it deforming any great amount. It weighs about half the weight of the alloy one! She's all go at the moment to get things done. Fired the engine back up today, now we have an oil leak again from the rear main seal, this is twice, so on closer inspection and a little measuring, found that the housing is oval. Bit strange but we have another and we'll use a genuine toyota seal in it, that should fix it. Engine also got it's first good rev today, OMFG it is one angry :o engine!! Have a long list of stuff that still has to be done, so after the rally this weekend I'll be doing 2-3 nights a week getting it ready for Urbanville. Hoping to Rego it next week so we can run it in and also get the wheel alignment too. Still have to make mud flaps, finish the light bar and rewire it, tune the carbs and engine. 6 new rally tyres get fitted up tomorrow, have to fit window winder handles and door handle buckets as well, so the front door panels have to come off to do that. And the list goes on!! :hmm:

You can lift the idle up via the air bleed screw. 6000 rpm is considered hi rpm. remove the A/C and power steering you pussy!! :lolcry: Prepreg???

Why have you got a twin belt set up? Do you still have the A/C hooked up? :lolcry: The reason they have a harmonic balancer is for smoothness and having so much shit hanging off the front of the balancer. Toyota engines generally are well balanced, plus i wouldn't trust a harmonic balancer on a rally engine, it's likely to fall apart in a stage at hi rpm. :no2: As for idle, just lift it up to 850-900. Because we used so many layers, the vacuum pump had to try and pull any air that was in there, through all those layers. We ended up with air pockets. I may have a fix for it, not sure yet!!

You need to do more research Rob!!! 1NZFE

When you done the head gasket last time, Did you RE-TORQUE the head? Even if it says Mono torque, you still need to re-torque the head. We re-torque the head up to three times on a rally engine that has had a new gasket fitted.
-
Bumpers are now fitted and they look great!! Sump guard hasn't turned out as well as i'd hoped but may still be able to use it.
-
Have finally got to do the sump guard. We'll find out tomorrow how it turns out!! Finished fitting and modding all the alloy pulleys, now everything lines up!! Tony has fitted the new rally plugs, leads and the plug cover, looks sweet. Decided to relocate the themo fan too, it was blowing hot air on to the jug's when it turned on. We now have a date set for it's first rally,so we have to pull finger, still heaps to do. Hoping to have it ready for rego next week, 6 new tyre's have been ordered. She might not be completely finished when it does it's first event, but it'll be dam close.

New seat belts are fitted, very nice indeed. The inside of the car looks so clean!! Have finished the sump guard mould, not perfect but it is a sump guard after all!! Probably look at doing it next weekend, have another rally car to work on tomorrow.
-
Photos of the belts slack ass!!! and i had started the mould until someone stole MY bench!!
-
Getting there, just can't rush these things. I haven't even finished the mould yet!! Oh new seat belts have arrived as well
