He's running in the classic's at the WRC, under invitation, seated car 9. We are both very happy that we have managed to lose that much weight from the car and it's still safe. Pm me anytime if you have any questions.

3T-C Mikuni Solex Twins Major Internal Issues
TRD ke70 replied to t18drifts's topic in General Mechanical
If you have had the float chambers apart, just check to make sure you have the choke disc's lined up properly before you put the tops back on. Common problem is that that get lined up wrong and the chokes are on all the time. -
Funny you say that Jimi, I'm doing my first event as a navie in a couple of weeks. as well. Thought I'd give it a go after 20+ years of swinging spanners on them. And of course it's in a Toyota, the group B celica that we are running in the 2wd series. Should be fun. Wish you all the best for your first rally.

Thanks mate, I'm very happy with that because it still has to have a fiberglass bonnet and boot as well as Lexan windows. So hopefully 750 with all of that done. :o But 809.1kg's with the lights on and ready to rally is very very good.

Just got a Txt from Tony. The Corolla got weighed last night at scrutineering for the WRC and it came in at 809.1kg's with the lights on.

I think it would be a good idea to start another thread about these head bolts and what CAN possibly happen!! At least it will give members/owners who are building a 4AGE something to look out for that could potentially destroy an engine.
-
Looks like ARP have an issue with their head bolts. But it's only the head bolt that feeds oil to the head, maybe using a standard bolts in that hole would fix this problem. That's exactly what happened to our engine Stu, but we caught it in time and managed to save most of the bottom end.
-
Could be on to something Des, both the rally heads were/are small port, :blinks: but Tony's MR2 is a bigport and it done the same thing,:bash: I'm wondering if ARP had different batches of bolts?

Hey Rob. I won't be down there, but i hear a rumour that a particular KE70 will be there running at car 9 in the classic's!!

The intake runner length was a huge advantage!! = more torque!!

IMO an weight out of the car is a good thing, whether it be sprung or unsprung. the less weight you have to drag around a race track the better. I have just gone through a weight reduction on a rally car, and removed about 50kg's, this was achieved by changing the sump guard to a lighter one, replacing the glass with lexan, and good use of a holesaw. The driver really noticed the difference in the way he could carry more speed through the corner. What we do, is to try and reduce as much of the unsprung weight as possible, IE tyres and wheels, but you get to the point where you just can't reduce it anymore. Every little bit of weight you can remove from the car helps, you might not feel 1 or 2kg's, but add that up over 3 or 4 items and you'll start to notice the difference. If you look closely at the car, there so much you can remove, from intrusion bars in the doors, to unused brackets and it's only going to cost you time with a grinder and hole saw. Other stuff will start to cost money, but the benefits are there. A change in battery saved us 7kg's!! My advice would be, look at the over all picture not just one thing!! Hope this helps!!

Yeah guys it's still alive. We had some problems with the new engine, thanks to ARP head studs reducing the amount of oil been fed to the cams. Seized the cams and torn up the cylinder head dumped all the alloy into the sump and making a shit of a mess of the bottom end. We have managed to salvage the bottom end and the new head is almost finished. Anyhow more things are been done and should be out rallying very soon. New Dash!!

I have used these guys and found them to be really good!! Grip Force

Oh i have found this!! 4age-diagnosis_manual.pdf

If you pull the cover off the ECU, it should have it marked on the board, O2!!

Thanks for all the help guys. We managed to get it sorted out, looks like it was a combination of things, from the dizzy to the harness. She is now running sweet and almost ready for Rally Q. :)
-
thanks guys It is a shielded signal harness and it is grounded at one end only. It's a fairly old Haltech, not really that much in it,It's an E6S. sorry Trev i don't have access to that equipment. 'm still working through it at this stage, my brain hurts!!
-
I have a little issue with a Haltech. The problem is the ecu is seeing a rpm signal that is inconstant, sometimes it flicks to 16,000 rpm at idle and engine is running like a bag of shit and won't pull pass 3-4000rpm. We have been through all the possible signal inputs, including replacing the dizzy, to the ignition module. The engine use to run fine, but everything has been changed over to a new car, including a the ecu harness. Any help would be great.

The first round of the series has been run and the winner was Craig Aggio and Peta Davies in a Group B replica Celica.

Check the fuel pump pressure, could be a rooted valve in the pump.

Nice work Matt, looks great, nice and clean under there!! :y: :y:

Yip, it's still one lane but doesn't look like it'll be to long before it's open again. Good idea, he really does a great job on alignments. He has spent 10hrs with me correcting the alignment on a RX rally car before. Hope the manual was of some help! Trev, the little K was good, but the you just can't get the same power as a 4A.

There's a guy by the name of Peter Stringfellow who does them. Don't have any contact details, but i could probably get a ph number if you need him. Well, went for a little drive today to Toowoomba via kilcoy, yarraman, and crowsnest. it was like a 600k round trip. Needed to get a wheel alignment done and the only guy we use is in Toowoomba, Craig Aggio from Steerfast!! Car now steers perfect and is run-in!! All i can say, it's a torque monster!!
