Thought I'd repair a little damage that happened at the last rally, yes it only finished 3 stages!! I'll be taking a mould off this and making a fiberglass one for next time, bloody hard work straightening this panel after a big f**ken rock hits it.

What a shit cam grinder, to lazy to fill in all the info. Is the lift measured at 50(most common) or at 40(1mm), which i've seen recently!!
-
Amazing, you asked the question with very little information and Mr A has given you an answer. If you don't like the answer, then give more information or F**k off and work it out yourself.

Have a look at this!! This is what i mean by reversion, make your extractor flanges/ holes bigger than the heads ports, this will create an anit-reversion lip. You'll need it if your running a 2 1/2" exhaust. How To Modify Ford SOHC Engines - David Vizard.pdf
-
Depends on a lot of other things, like what carby do you have, what exhaust are you going to use. 25-65 is quite a small cam and if tuned right, you shouldn't notice it. Reversion of exhaust gases is the biggest problem, this will really make your cam lumpy at idle. get this right and you'd be surprised how bigger cam you can go before it become lumpy at idle. We had a 40/78 with 300 duration in the rally car and it idled like mums shopping trolley!!

Not really sure yet, need to mic it up and see whats what. Starting to think that the shaft was re-ground wrong, generally we don't use re-ground shafts in rally cars as they have been known to cause problems.

Well not a very good weekend for us again. We seam to had a small problem with the bottom end, we did however manage to complete 4 stages before the engine cried enough. The car feels fast, Tony tells me, and he was running 5th outright before the engine problems. Here's a little bit of video, thanks to Annette Ross, and a photo, again thanks to Annette. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMXGra2YO0s

Well off to a rally tomorrow with the Corolla, hopefully all will go well this time. Even with this new engine we have had big problems, it nipped a bearing while running it in, lucky Tony caught it in time. He stripped the engine again and cleaned it, measured it and found everything on size, so a new set of bearings and we ran it in last weekend. We think it was caused by to much load on the engine with running in oil and shit quality bearings. Both of us are still a little concerned, but an oil change mid week showed nothing in the oil, so at least that's a good sign. Tony found the rear wheel bearing seals leaking last night when he was doing the final spanner check's, so I found some new seals today and we fit them before the start tomorrow. We're hoping we've also fixed the blow-by problem it had as well, have made a full return system that is yet to be tested. Also this week a new set of HID 100w kits went into the pencil beams, it's like turning the sun on at night. Won't have any incar footage this time around, but i'll try and get some short video of it in action. Hopefully this little beast will complete it's first rally, fingers crossed.

I know they look big those tyres, they are only 195's on a 13 x 6 rim. Nice Vid jimi. I'm hoping to get some in car in a couple of weeks if all goes well.

New engine was started in the weekend and sounds good, so hopefully we can get it onto the Dyno this weekend to run it in. The Corolla at the WRC 2011

And this would be the dash you want been a Starlet S Oh and that's a Zodiac not a Zephyr, it's worth more.

I'm guessing you removed the gear from the dizzy shaft to fit the new seal? You could have the gear out 180 degrees. Also check the air gap for the cam angle sensor(in the bottom the dizzy) should be around the 14 thou mark.
-
I heard a little rumor that the new engine maybe started this weekend!!:rolls: So if all goes well it could be attending the final rally of the year in QLD, fingers crossed!!
-
Have you got the fuel pump connected to the right line? sounds like you have the pump connected to the return line!!
-
So you've replaced the single wire O2 sensor(standard) with a 3 wire O2 sensor(SR20DET)?
-
Yeah, ring Evan!!! Could be fuel filter, where are you measuring the pressure, at the rail, pump, before or after the filter??
-
Thanks Tom. We have a 7 rib oil squirter block now and another crank, so all is good!!!
-
That's not a fuel pressure problem. most EFI's don't need more than 35PSI. Time to check everything else!! What ECU are you using?
-
+1 for changing the whole loom, at least then you know what you have and not going to be chasing problems around the engine harness. If you need a hand Tom/Justin, I'm sort of free after this weekend.
-
Thanks Tom that means a lot coming from you. Yeah it's hard luck, but that's motorsport, shit does happen!! We are hoping to have it running for the last rally this year, but we'll wait and see if that happens.
-
Does it have the water pipes still connected to the throttle body?
-
Yes very sad news. So if anyone has a 7 rib oil squirter block, a overrated 20v crank for sale, I'd be interested in talking to ya.
-
This is what happens when water enters your engine!! happened on day one at one of the water crossing.

Do a compression test, you can't tune a F**ked engine!!
