Fark, another victim of the flood, sad to hear dude. Hope its salvageable mate.

I'm fairly sure the law states that you must adhere to the emission laws of the of the year the motor that you convert to is made. Don't quote me on it, but I'm 99% sure you only need to adhere to 4K emissions, but if you like the planet it doesn't hurt running a cat.

The 2m deep section was an accident, pouring rain and it looked like bitumen until I was in the water. The other section isn't a rushing river, just a section of road that goes under. I'm from out bush, I know the limits, and am very experienced in flood water /mud. I do feel for the people who've been left stranded or injured, don't get me wrong, but I do get frustrated with people who vere into oncoming traffic to avoid a puddles in there 4WD.

Yeah you owe me beer :P

Fark! If you need a drier place to hide for a while and get your mind of things pop out for a beer any time trev. Only halfa hour from Ipswich. Don't want to be the bearer of bad news but tomorrow is a king tide too, that's why the water is on the way out for the meantime... -
I'll get a pic in the morning, but if you look at the + terminal you should find the 3 pin plug and the short length of wire running from the battery to it. Get a test light or a multi meter and make sure they're still all getting power.

KE70 springs are a narrower diam than the AE86, no love there. I made it through a 4m wide 2m deep railway underpass in the camry the other night at oxley by accident. Hit it at 40kph, running for the green like - water a foot over the windscreen :) I shut the throttle instantly, and once I had a wake going I fed it a little throttle and she motored through. Also followed a prado through 2 foot deep water over 200m long the other week, could have overtaken the pussy :P Was 150 cars waiting at the other end of the flood way, 15 of which were in 4wd's and being pussies getting dirty looks from me :)

Hey, I'd check the short length of 3 wires from the battery(+) terminal to a 3 pin plug (for some reason toyota used wire as a fuseable link) I bet you've melted one of them if all the fuses are good. No need to run new power feeds straight from the battery and the coil for the tacho too. All the feeds can be stolen from the factory gauge feeds, as tacho's use SFA power. There's a tacho feed already running to the cluster too. Hope this helps. electrics and forums don't get much response, because it's painful enough finding gremlins when you're fiddling with the car hands on.

I'm still trying to photochop your rally car, a catamaran and a jet motor together, just doesn't seem to work very well! Will be the new 2011 QLD rally series formula the way things are going...
-
Another thing I was told many moons ago that may help fitment is running an RB20DET gearbox, which is apparently shorter, thinner and puts the shifter right in the factory shifter hole. Top effort MattyZ, my 14 stiches is weak :P How did you cut a tendon in your ass though :lolcry:

Chassis geometry wise the AE86 and XE7X is identical. A full height AE86 spring will be full height in a KE, so no drama's there mate. The problem you get with strut swaps is when you fit corona gear with full height springs - 2" lift on a KE. I have 1.5" lift on Camry daily I know where your at liking a bit of clearance :)
-
Cheers dude, will be interesting to drive a KE that doesn't need to be at 4000rpm to make power. Beams rally car would be off tap in an AE86. But I think the biggest setback with them in a small chassis that they're 3" taller than a gen2, so I'd have to walk the motor about an inch forward to make it clear the seam that pokes out on the firewall. Hey, you could always but the 4AGE in a powerboat to break it in!

Dam that sux to hear Trev. Hope the family's safe and you've got enough beer to keep you sane. -
Hells yes, sounds a little meaty in the cam department :) You going to throw it on a dyno and see who she goes? BTW whats the plan for the first outing?
-
I had a tyre egg out on me last week, I don't think this wet weather is helping much. It was atleast the size of a tennis ball on the inner edge, about 4" of steering wheel wobble every time that wheel did a revolution.
-
If you take a picture of the caliper and rotor setup someone will be able to help you. I'm fairly sure the KE70 tubes are 48mm so you could be in luck.

Hmm, geez the news is random, I was watching and they said wivenhoe was at 170% capacity today. Keep your head above water ladies and gents. -
Saying that a motor swap that needs a custom gearbox xmember, engine mounts and a custom tailsfaft is no worse than a motor swap that you can source every last bit from the factory corolla parts bin and bolts straight in is a little misleading. I guess lots of people are running S13 crossmembers these days, but I don't think crossbreeding parts that modify steering geometry should be taken so lightly, loyds 1UZ KE70 is probably the only KE with an S13 xmember in the country that handles right, and look at what he had to do... BTW You shouldn't need an aftermarket ecu unless you're putting a bigger turbo in the car.

What a pain with that diff being wrong... Loving how quickly this is coming together, looks like one of the more fiddly conversions I've seen done. Keep up the great work, will cruise up the sunny coast and borrow that wideband sometime if the rain decided to give up for a while.
-
You could put 10 airbags from steering wheels set in foam in the fibreglass bumper and have a "Ah f%#k - tree" Button!
-
FWD AE82 swap ? :P
-
On many of the sedan body conversions on 4wd chassis' are known to pop doors open on the tight corners :)
-
If you've got KE30 brakes ATM, the KE70 brakes caliper will just work, bigger pad area, but the same rotor. Sounds like you've got through some major work though, can't wait for some pics.

With a carby motor just set your timing advance based on the fuel you buy. Unleaded 8-12 deg 95ron - 10-15deg 98ron - 15-20deg (depending on engine mods of course). With my old 4K I found with the timing advanced a touch as above I'd get much better fuel economy with 95 or 98 ron fuel.
