-

hey all ive been lurking around this forum for quite some time but never really got involved, but now i think its time to show off my build and hopefully get positive feedback and some good suggestions well here its goes lol it started of as a learning build as a fun dangerous paddock basher!! i swapped the standard 4k with box for a vr buick v6 engine with a auto box and full loom first step was mounting the engine, solid mounts worked perfectly haha it sits a bit high but it worked well, cut the tunnel out, backyard shortned tailshaft and dogdy wiring and it was a awesome paddock basher, went through multiple sets of tyres :) but i wanted to get a bit serious so i purchesed a poo brown ke70 from my mate, didnt have that much rust was a good starting block. so i dropped the the body onto the v6 with solidmounted crossmember but lowered it 10mm, but i threw away the auto box and installed a t5 manual box, the best thing i done!! got my hands on a ems stinger for nothin out of a mates supra, second best thing i done lol i wired it all myself, i think it went really well, looked clean and was well hidden i had a gen 1 liberty auto radiator just sitting around, so i decided to see if it would fit, and damn it fit perfectly between the rails and sit pretty much flush with the top of the radiator support, second bonus was the outlets were in the right postion aswell next was front end, hates gonna hate but it has a full silvia front end. s14 tein coilovers with cusco tops, s13 sr20 brakes, s13 lower control arm and cefero tierod ends, and s13 master cylinder and booster. i wanted to keep the fuel setup hidden so i went for a undercar fuel setup, i made a box shaped surge tank which fits nicely next to the tank, a 6 psi lift pump and vl fuel pump all mounted under car, i wanted to keep the car as standard and sly looking as possible so it has a standard full interior, minus the recaro driver seat :) gauges moulded in to the original dash and still using the standard tacho dash, i had to modify the tacho, by changing the a resisitor in the back of it i was able to get it to work perfectly with the 6 cylinder, and as the box is borgwarner i was able to use an old cortina speedo cable to run the speedo, it is out by a mile but i just got to play with the speedo gearing a bit. it is still using the standard rolla diff but is a 4.44 ratio so 1st gear is like a crawler gear, ive got a 3.7 rolla diff to put into it but ive been lazy ive always loved watanbe style wheels, and i no there not that loved here, but i found a set of rota rb for a steal so i had to get them, i put a bit of stretch on them and it looks awesome i took it to tafe one week to put it on there dyno, and i had the best luck as one of the teachers there works for a major drag racing team and helped me alot in tuning it, it started at 100rwkws by the end i had 115rwkws which is awesome for a nugget v6 havent had it on a track yet which I'm dieing to do but ive taking it down the strip and it ran a 14.6 which isnt bad but i think with the longer gear ratios and my the dyno tune i should see low 14s heres some photos of the build, i would love some feedback thanks for reading nathan next big thing for it haha
-
nice conversion, how did you go with your pedel box, and clutch cable, on my one i used the standard manual pedal box and commodore clutch cable, should be good when its done, mine ran a 14.6 with 4.44 auto rear diff ratio and a shit launch, when i put the 3.7 diff in it i should get a high 13

Ive done it, no way would it be able to get registered, only a track car

KE70+AE92 replied to kingjbag333's topic in Engine Conversions
if he had a longer wheel base like a ke70 it will drift awesome, i no this cause my ke70 with a v6 drifts awesome lol. but don't waste ur time turnin a ke20 into a drift car there awesome in stock form and u would destroy it like wagn said -
Starlet Body On A Volvo 240 Floorpan/driveline?!
KE70+AE92 replied to 7shades's topic in Automotive Discussion
holy dog!!! thats incredible -
On the v6 cause its efi, i had it on the 12v power on the dfi coilpacks, on a 4k with a standard coil u would have it on the negitive side going to earth so when the relay activates it earths the coil
-
Ive also used that jaycar kit as a revlimiter on my ke70 with the v6, it used to chuck massive flames of limiter, as it was set as a spark cut
-
hey bud, it went well, looks really good, the only problem i have is u can only jack the rear up from the diff as if u jack from thw body the diff hits the exhaust
-
I'm leanin towards goin under the diff just for the ease factor when fabricating but, i wanna keep the stock factor and hide as much as i can, later I'm gonna get under the car and sus out how hard it will be to run it over
-
Hey I'm in the process of doin the exhaust on my v6 project, I'm running twin individual 2 1/4 system and i just got to up to fabricatin the section that passes the diff, i would like to run it over the diff, but space is limited so I'm tossing up whether to run it under the diff, Wats everyones opinion, does anyone run the exhaust under the diff, wouls the diff hit the exhaust over big bumps or the exhaust hit the ground over bumps Thanks
-
Definitly commodore motor and box wont just bolt up evrythings custom trust me haha, where bouts u located bud ive got a ke70 3 speed auto which i wanna get rid of
-
Awesome conversion, i will definitly be using this thread as a reference when i do my r31 diff conversion. Also what model r31 comes out with disc rear end??

Is A Ke30 Corolla With An Sr20 Illegal? Nsw
KE70+AE92 replied to haydenb123's topic in Automotive Discussion
maybe the first place u should start is the rta website and check out the vehicle standards when putting a larger engine in a car you are alowed 15% engine capacity increase without an engineers certificate anything bigger will have to be engineered which means can't be driven on p plates there is a formula in one of the standards documents that has the formula to calculate the maxmuim size engine that can be put in a car u need the weight and i think the largest engine that came with that model. for a ke70 i think the largest n/a motor is 2.4l and turbo 2l with a ke30 being lighter than the ke70 it might not be possible to put a sr in legally -

Ke70 Tacho Dash Not Workin With 6 Cylinder
KE70+AE92 replied to KE70+AE92's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
that helps alot thankyou ill have a look at the size of the resistor and see what i can replace it with with the incorrect signal, ino when i had the 12v charger connected to the tacho to test the original trimpot could change the reading a whole 2000rpm but may not be enought -
hey all I'm half way throught my commodore v6 t5 conversion in a ke70 and I'm havin problems with the tacho dash i purchesed this cluster last week and installed it today. i wanted to keep the same cluster for the conversion, ive got all the alt and oil lights and temperture gauge working so far but the tacho has left me stumped i no ive wired it up correctly but the needle on the tacho wont budge. i no its got a different signal to the original 4 cylinder but atleast the needle should move but be out ive tryed adjusting the trimpot on the back of the gauge but no luck. i did test the gauge by using a 12v charger and it did work I'm so confused why it wont work if anyone has some suggestions let us no they will be greatly appreciated

Anyone Done An Ej20G Swap Into A Ke70
KE70+AE92 replied to capt. crunch's topic in Engine Conversions
an ej20 would be great in a ke, lots of torque, light motor, but there just to wide and rwd the box will definitly not like it, plus way to much custom work. if u where gonna go n/a put a ej25 in heaps better to start of with -
