Thanks for all the positive feedback!! :) as for the 7AGE build, which I'm trying to simplify in order to make this into a swift and easy build (hahaha who am i kidding? :P) this car will be my daily when I'm done with it. Engine Plans are as follows; - 4AGE 20V Frontcut Bottom end: -7A Engine block (Stock 7A Crank, Stock 7A Conrods, 4AGE 20V Pistons, redline between 6,500-7,000 rpms) - If Future turbo plans (then get forged pistons and rods) will swap the bottom end from the 4AGE 20V with the above bottom end. - 4AGE 16V Timing belt / 130 teeth timing belt.. Misc; required outside of the equation for to get the engine running reliably are as follows - Aftermarket ECU will be required because factory 20V ECU will have the 1.6L map and can't be reflashed. - Aftermarket Fuel pump that should be it for a 7AGE 20V build. this is my starting point reference, i will update as i build and obviously there will be issues which i will come accross and post up. for the time being the 4AFE seems to be holding up hahahaha -
  2. yep, i wont be building straight away... this will be my daily.. but the compression is another thing I'm always thinking about..if i want to turbo in the future..i thought maybe i could get some custom rods made by ARP at the right length to play with the ratio..but it comes down to $$$ and fabrication $$$ for i'll stick to stage 1 for now :) if i can get a reliable 7AGE 20V with forged internals running, might even scrap the idea of turbo.. this will afterall be a daily driven car with the added grunt :P as for ECU, will the Stock 20V ECU handle it, i was hoping to do the build 7A bottom end and swap over the car should strat and run as normal, but i can't help be get the feeling that a tune will be needed in rder for it to run "as it should be" i don't know much about the ECU whether it can be reflashed or not, unless i have to fo full aftermarket ecu..

Hey guys, thank you so much, i am very grateful for the input! whether it is a silvertop or blacktop will depend on what available when i go get myself a frontcut.. so the 7A pistons are ok for this even for turbo applications? while i am defintely thinking forged rods. can i use the 20V pistons in the 7A with forged rods? i would assume that 20V pistons are better than 7A pistons? i could be wrong here.. sorry should have clarified, i understand this. i was thinking of a redline between 6,500-7,200 my idea of high revvin is something like 8000rpm upwards..

Hi Everyone, I am planning on building a 7AGE 20V, i have an idea on how to go about doing this however i have some concerns and questions that maybe some of our experienced members here can clarify for me? I currently have a 7AFE at home. and i plan on getting a 4AGE 20V front cut with all running gear and swap the bottom end with the 7A. now the 4AGE 20V loves high RPMS, while the 7A block and its internals might struggle with that. although i am aware that a swapping the bottom end the engine will still work, how well it will run is another topic.. so what i am thinking is with the 7A bottom end - i'm thinking stock crank, forged rods and forged pistons. then do the bottom end swap with the 4AGE 20V head. the aim here is to have strong internals to cope with the demanding 20V head? forged internals will also allow the future prospect of turbo.. therefore my question is with this 7A and forged internals swapped 20V head.. am i correct to assume that this swap of the stronger bottom end can run with the factory ecu of the 20V reliably? advice on this is greatly appreciated.
  5. Minor Update 18/08/2012; I painted the space between the tail lights black, now i need to find some gromets to plug the holes left behind..

Updates added 15/08/2012~ thank you, much appreciated :) the main reason i acquired the 7AFE was for the 1.8L Bottom End, i plan on eventually going with a 20V head..and build a 7AGE with a Haltec ECU..but all in due time. the 7AFE to 4AFE is not a straight swap..everything will bolt up but the wiring is not plug and play...its a whole new conversion... slowly but surely i will build this engine...but for now the 4AFE is great for running around town :) as for the odometer..i've done it all before..couldnt be bothered with this one..there was only a 20,000kms difference.. the new odo i put in shows 20,000 kms extra..no big deal i guess. i actually have a write up about swapping the speedo gauges to retain orignal kms in my old thread... http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/34123-hans-ae92-sedan/page__hl__yuvi thanks man!! i think ive pretty much answered this one with the previous quote :) 20V 7AGE is the plan.

  9. its ridiculous how time flies nowadays with work and uni and what not, updates added :) will try to add multiple updates this month..will be installing parts etc..

Update 30/10/2012 Everything around the engine is disconnected, driveshafts out!.. i didnt undo the gearbox..will try to get both out in one go..its gna be a mission... but at the moment there is only one strategy to get it out.."Wiggle Wiggle Wiggle, Wiggle, YEAH!" more to come.. Update 7/11/2012 this is what i am up to.. 4AFE & C50 Gearbox out: then of course, i cleaned the engine bay from the oils and what not with the degreaser.. Fitted the C52 gearbox + Drive shafts: next up..i have to get my 20V Flywheel machined before i drop the 4AGE in that is all for now Got the flywheel machined this morning and fitted the clutch on. frankly i think bolting the gearbox on the motor then drop it all in at once is the best way as it is easier. I am really struggling to get the motor in due to limited clearance. so this afternoon i had to undo it all and will continue tomorrow..(will drop the motor and gearbox as one.) from this point onwards i guess i am on the home strech and hopefully everything bolts up haha, then after that its just wiring. EDIT 8/11/2012: - Took Driveshafts out - Took Geabox out - connected gearbox to the motor...what a pain to get it to line up!! - had to get a mate over to give me a hand..but all is good now; i got lazy this weekend...so i fell behind a bit, spend most of my time with the mounts..and connecting things up.. then radiator..i didnt get around to the driveshafts..etc..but progress in little amounts are better than no progress at all...LOL as at 11/11/2012:
  13. so anyway, first things first..I'm not a big fan of 5'Inch fulli sick tachos.. so i went OEM and replaced the factory Speedometer with one that has a tachometer. Now yes, it is a straight Swap.. BUT i would like to point out, many people who have tried this has had some degree of issue within that process. upon installation all the gauge intruments will either not work or you will see funny things like the temp gauge on "overheat" etc.. Make sure that original speedometer is replaced with its "right" replacement. I went to my local wreckers and sourced a Speedometer that has a tacho in it. its a "174" series upon plugging it, the speedo was partly not working and there was some funny readings as mentioned above.. now I could either re-wire all the plugs to match the new unit..(but since I'm feeling Lazy this arvo.. I could just go back to my local wreckers and source out one that is of the same series of the one i am replacing. (which i did) the exisitng Speedometer in my car was a "357" model and the speedo i sourced was a "356" model refer to photo below; swapped over and working well! while i had the dash undone..i installed an OEM clock as well..which read "LOL" i didnt like the previous "fulli sick" white painted mirrors (which were also cracked and replaced them with OEM black ones. that was it for today..not as exciting as an engine swap..but it kept me entertained Body wise, these are next on the list; - New Front Bumper (Black) - New Rear bumper (Black) - New headlights - New Grill with Toyota Logo - Fog lights (yellow) - Recondition & respray wheels to Gold - Cut & polish Detailing Edit 14/08/2012 Next up was the bucket seats...i had forgotten what a pain it was to modify factory rails...but it had to be done :P gave it a good cut and polish and installed some yellow foglights..and updated the grill. then of course gettin carried away with ideas.. but no..i do believe a better bottom end would be required..so i got myself a 7AFE How to build a 7AGE Uploaded with ImageShack.us all in due time of course.. next up is body styling..the car has seen better days..it had a respray job so the paintwork is good..but it is all in the small details. for example the headlights and taillight have "aged" and even after cleaning them thoroughly they looks "old" and weathered.. so as previously mentioned. i will be going with black bumpers and in the process, i will be adding new headlights and tail-lights to give it that "new" clean look anyway before all that occurs..this is what the car currently looks like.. See the difference with the headlight and how the previous one is weathered? and there you have it..i only got the front end done today..might do the taillight and rear bumper on the weekend.. unfortunately it was getting dark so the after shot doesnt do it justice..i will upload new ones when it ake photos during the day...all in all the front end looks brand new :) Update 16/08/2012 Today i updated the back end with new tail lights ans a new rear bumper and got rid of the previous tail light trim which was painted black from the previous owner. I will be respraying the center part black over the weekend maybe if time allows.. currently for comparison from before, could do with a detail in due time :) Update: 18/08/2012 I just realised i don't have a shot of the interior..i'm still working on it.. gauges to go in the center (nothing fancy just SPECO voltage, water temp and oil pressure)..currently empty; Some shots of today's completion of the rear end with the space between tail lights painted black; 13/09/2012 - Updates As at today! just the basics that had to be done.. - Replaced Brake fluid - Replaced Clutch fluid - Coolant Service - Machined Brake rotors + new brake pads. - 16x7 Vault Wheels with Federal SS595 tyres (low profile - 40) the the ricey mods of course.. - Painted calipers and drums with high heat red paint. Update 26/09/2012 and so thou shall have 20 Valve and ITBs!!!! Uploaded with ImageShack.us Since i am swapping the 4AFE (1st gen) to the 4AGE 20V Silvertop, i have to splice into the under dash harness of the AE94 as i don't want to change the whole harness (too much work) the 20V ECU(the one i haveis for automatic transmission) has three plugs, two of which connects to the Engine Wiring Harness and the remaining one is a 22 Pin plug for the under dash loom. with the 4AFE the under dash harness plug that connects to the ECH is a 16 Pin, so i have to splice into the initial 20V Plug to match.. the photo below might come in handy to those in need of it, so I'm sharing it; Under Dash Harness 4AFE to 4AGE 20V SIlvertop AE101 ECU Pinout; all it means is i have to solder/weld into the 22 Pin Plug for the 20V ECU; Update 17/10/2012 Not much has happened in regards to the engine swap...i will need a new clutch and drive shafts as the existing ones are nearing the end anyway..will have to acquire these first.. but in the meantime.. - Front Lip Added (Old School Mazda 626 Lip) - Tail Light Extension added (may as well..looked a bit plan :P) Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us Wow..it actually looks nice than before i said! do you agree? it starting to look nicer that my WRX lol!! Hey guys! ok i know the 7AGE build is not a simple bolt on thing to do. so Parts i can easily acquire; - 7A Bottom end - 20V Head - TD04 Turbo (Stock WRX Turbo)- (of course will have to weld a custom manifold) the type of turbo I'm using gives a clear indication I'm not going for anything over the top. and i understand with many 7AGE builds the Engine does not like high revs. how do i go about building one for turbo (for example, do i need new crank? rods? pistons? what about the 20V head? what needs to be done? any advice on this will be very much aprpeciated! there are many threads online, but most are very unclear and inconsistent thanking you all :D
  15. Hi Everyone, i previously worked on my AE92 and unfortunately had to be sold to allow something esle to prosper.. Previous AE92: Click Here anyway in january i made the aquisition of an AE94 with a 4AFE...the car had not been run in over a year and was sitting there. needless to say some work had to be done before putting it back on the road. didnt put rego on until late February.. luckily for me, it had some light mods already made to it; - Black Window tint - 16In Rims other than that the car is pretty much stock..but the previous owner got paint happy and paited bits here and there white.. so thats gotta change asap.   17. hey guys, i apologise about my dissapearing act.. its just about a year and a half now since i gave up that corolla wow! a lot has happened since..i've done a fair bit of work to my WRX..but i always hated having sold my AE92..(theres a story there..but i let it go) but hey I'm on here again! and i have some news.. i have acquired another AE92 Sedan with a 4AFE this time! i will start a new thread for the new project!! The new build is going to be epic! i will start a youtube channel and post every mod step by step!

  20. oh yes..i am getting a frontcut.. i was looking at an aftermarket quad throttle setup....but if i got that far..I'm gna need a roll cage XD but yeah if the stock extractors are great i wont need an aftermarket one..truth be told i was just after a bit more power and that deep muffler sound
  21. Hi Everyone, I'm looking at doing a 4AGE 20V swap into my ae92 sedan. i don't wish to leave it at a stock setting, i want some after market extractors, intake manifold and possible catback however I'm struggling to find shops that have these parts.. anyone?? cheers yuvi

  24. ^^I'm still on stock shocks at the moment..I'm planning on upgrading to coilovers after an engine upgrade whyenever i have enough funds to do so. so yeah I'm planning on making my own strut bars..will post pics once i do so. although kings springs may not be the best out there, i still believe they are bang for buck, some of my mates are running them and they're quite satisfied with the results as am i.
