With my 3K-H running on straight LPG, I'm using about 10L/100km - which is really cheap @ 67 ish cents per litre. Engine mods: Impco CA125 modded to an early mechanical secondary K carby throttle plate, ceramic coated inlet manifold, big port head, standard 3K motor (assuming to be 9:1cr), currently 1-1/4" press bent extractors, 2 inch press bent exhaust 1 hot dog resonator & 1 muffler. Tuning: slighty rich all through the rev range as tuning LPG properly is a hard bastard, also running approximately 22 degrees BTDC, no vacuum advance and total mech advance of 37 degrees. ITS NOT PINGING YET!! Driveline: KE55 5 speed, & 4.3 Borg Warner diff.

Merry Christmas Rollaclub!
doityourself replied to zeph_KE70's topic in Rollaclub Social (Off-Topic)
Merry Christmas to all!!! Hope you all stay safe over this festive break. Opened my large gift from under the Christmas tree, brand new pacemaker headers for my beast. -
Here is a picture of the current set up

It may sound weird considering where I work but I bought Pacemaker Extractors, and are waiting for them to arrive. The reason this sounds weird is that I work for Pacemaker Headers here in Adelaide, we have non in stock as they have been deleted for almost 7 years now. Online Performance in Sydney had two units, now I have one of those two. Will post up pictures when I get them, its my Christmas \ birthday gift this year, and thus capping my expenditure for this calendar year.

The set up from the datsun came off in favour for an adapter I made to suit the mechanical twin throat from the early ke. This has increased performance, will still maintaining good economy there is a noticeable improvement in acceleration. Next to will be a holley hat, to start the collection of boost related parts.

Love it. If you want some more poke maybe consider an 18R or something like that - so it atleast looks original.

A second hand LPG system is worth about $1200 excluding the custom piping that I have in the earlier pictures. That piping I made and had coated at work.

Tuesday - My mate who did the LPG and I got stuck into the rolla. We pulled off the whole set up and bolted on a set up from a Datsun L16 motor - guess what?? It works!!! Idles perfectly and stoich, cruises at 60km/h flicking in the middle of the LED's on the narrow band Air Fuel gauge. Fuel consumption has dropped from 15L/100km to 7.6L/100km, and with 65 litre tank that is roughly 850km from full to bone dry.

Car is booked in to have the LPG dyno tuned down at Classic Performace in Hackham for the 11th of November - Looking forward to having it run better. Its ok now and still saving me money on fuel costs but it should be more efficient and making more power.

Saw a white KE38 wagon with the plates KE-0038 travelling west on O'Sullivan Beach Road from South Road

Oh thanks man. Been having some issues lately with tuning the LPG system, it seems the mixer I was set up with is too big for a 3K motor. In fact the CA125M-2 mixer is rated 125-145hp, looks like I'm going to need a CA100 mixer. I'm also unhappy with the way it is set up in the engine bay too. The current mixer is suppose to be mounted in downdraft configuration which also doesn't help. Have been looking at Impco Gas from the US and they have throttle body mixers, its most likely that I will adapt a Impco throttle body mixer to the standard Big Port manifold.

Ke70/Ae86 Seats Into A Ke30/55 ??
doityourself replied to doityourself's topic in Automotive Discussion
Ah thanks just the answer I was looking for. May have to go down to u pull it and have a sus -
Wicked!! should be a real go'er with a turbo, even as is it should pull hard.
-
Before you flame me with the search - I did that and didn't find the relevant information. Just wondering if KE70 / AE86 seats fit into a KE30 / 55?? Thanks in advance Dale

Was the 4AGE KE10 on gumtree not long ago? Looks like a nice collection.

Thanks Scott. Started running the wiring for the o2 sensor Friday after work, and also for the xy reading lights in the c pillar trims. Also thinking about installing some led lights into the boot which will run off the same switch as the reading lights. Really hoping that Iay get around to being able to actually tune my LPG today or this weekend. Got my 304 stainless steel bends too, just thinking about how to design it properly.

Have put the fan shroud back on and changed the spark plugs to one heat range lower, this seems to have returned the running temps back to normal, which I was having a problem with on Adelaide's first warm day this week. Waiting for four 120 degree 32mm stainless bends, and I'll get cracking on a log style intake manifold to suit supercharging. Last night I soldered a Jaycar narrow band air/fuel meter (as I wasn't going to pay $140 for the Autometer gauge), and bought a new single wire O2 sensor.

Hey guys thought I'd throw up a couple of pictures. Name: Dale Jeffree Car: 1975 KE-30 2 Door Motor: 3K Bigport running on straight LPG, with custom intake pipe, RB30 throttle body, custom extractors, 2 inch exhaust. Drive line: KE-55 K50 5 speed, Borg Warner 4.3:1 diff Suspension & Brakes: Pedders lowered front springs, Brembo OE disc rotors, RDA pads in Sumitomo calipers, Pedders rear shockers, leaves are flat from 30+ odd years of towing. Wheels & Tyres: Dragway 13x6 & 13x7 inch wheels with 175/70R13. Interior: wearing out, with some random sporty seats that sit very low. Body: It was yellow and it still is inside but the outside it currently red, was black before but will be the factory yellow again someday. Other: The chrome look rocker cover and intake piping is actually ceramic coating.

Definitely thinking about supercharging.

Hey guys thought I would give you another installment. Finally had the Dragway Splats fitted turns out the fronts are 6 inch and the rears are 7 inch, I've got 175/70R13's fitted all round. Also fitted new brake rotors, pads and wheel bearings. I've never driven a Corolla with new brakes, its the weirdest feeling. Also got the LPG installed on sunday, took about 12 hours all up which as you can guess was a very lazy pace. I haven't taken a picture of it but the gas filler is in the factory position. Upon replacing the rocker cover I discovered that the inner of the motor is very clean - have never seen a K motor this clean. I have however discovered that after the conversion I have lost power, and that it is extremely difficult to tune properly. At a guess at the moment the car is consuming about 20L/100KM. To tune this I'm going to need an oxygen sensor and a Jaycar E.G.O kit to tune the gas right.

Thanks fellas, The 3K is still going very strong, I am quite surprised that a motor that sat for 3 years is so good. I will be using a valve saver kit, and as far as I am aware the it should be ok to not use it but its a fail safe. There is still more to come, I have just bought a laser cut intake flange for a much better designed intake - possibly looking into an AMR-500 supercharger in a 5 psi draw through set up.

Ok its all done, now its time to send the Impco-125 off to my mate for him to start rebuilding everything ready for installation soon. Here are some more pictures And here is the mag wheels I have bought but am awaiting my tax return for some tyres This is how I bought them, 2 with bald tyres and 2 without tyres And this is them cleaned up, spent about 30 minutes on each wheel.

Thanks fella, had some trouble fitting the '77 grill after fitting the 3k and re-assembling the front end, so the moment the '75 grill is filling the space till I get new clips. In my absence of not having the internet, I have picked up some goodies - like a set of 13x7 inch Dragway Splats for $200, they have come up nicely with a polish (still waiting on tax for tyres), and I have started a dedicated LPG conversion using my old motor for a dummy fit up, all mild steel has been ceramic coated, and all stainless will be left raw. Bought a KE55 drivers mirror, now have matching mirrors. And now some pictures What I have here is a custom intake bolted to a modified intake manifold. The intake manifold has had the bridge between the butterflies to improve the flow. The ceramic chrome intake section, flange plates were cut on the profile cutter at work, and was all put together at work attached to my spare head. The throttle body is from a RB30 which only has a 55mm butterfly and the pipe work from the TB to the intake manifold is 51mm . All tubing forward of the TB is 63mm stainless steel and has been pumped out to 66mm at the ends for the gas mixer and TB. Tomorrow at work I'm going to make the intake section in front of the Impco 125 gas mixer - no too much involved, also need to weld on barb fitting for the rocker cover breather.

Well a bit of an update for you. Pulled out the old stuffed 4K with piston head slappage and replaced it with a 3K big port motor. The new donk is quite strong with good compression, as opposed to the 4K which got louder the longer I drove it. The jap diff got very sick after a particular incident involving my boss, a dare, and a burnout - and has now been replaced with a BW 4.3. Once the 4K is gone, I can start rebuilding the K40 - it isn't broken but a freshen up will ease the mind for reliability. And finally after having many K carbies I think I will have a go at fitting a Niki carb from a Holden Gemini.
