that would be bloody right, funny thing though i was talking to a mate the other day because i was looking for an excuse to buy a new motor for it lol. what could have caused this? could it be the fuel i use?... do the rollas need a lead replacement additive? because i filled up with regular unleded before this started to happen? cheers, matt

How ya going guys, ive got a 84 rolla S and its been running like dream ever since ive got it a month or 2 ago, now the carbie is playing up. I pull the choke all the way out it turns over alright i give it a bit of time to warm up a bit, then i press the choke in 1 click and the revs flaten out and still runs fine then when it warms up to the 1st marker on the temp guage then i take the choke off and it stalls without a second thought. when i give the car some revs it dosnt stall but as soon as i take my foot off the accelerator it dies so I'm assuming its an idle issue. i checked the coolent, dunno what posessed me to do it and its a milky colour and it smells bad. i did a bit of poking around and it could be exhause gases or dare i say it a head gaskit issue. any thoughts anyone? thanks for the help guys, Matt

in my personal opinion i reckon its so dodgy, for daily driving id leave it open and if ya going to drift it buy a proper LSD i wouldnt muck with it.

I drove an echo a few times, shifting into second gear was a pain in the ass, wasnt overly fussed about the digital speedo and trying to do a hill start without revving the crap out of the engine and dumping the clutch is mission impossible. matt

How ya going guys, i got an 84 KE70 and the taillights on it are overrated however the piece plastic that holds the globes in are rooted, they are crumbling apart. i was wondering if you can get just that plastic bits with out the lights. ive already made the mistake of buying a new set of lights and it didnt come with the globe holders. cheers, Matt

G'day everyone, how ya going, I'm 20 and still working on getting my licence... gotta get a few hours before i can get my P's but I recently got a '84 KE70 (AE71 in technical terms, so they say) Corolla S auto for my first car for 900 bucks. Pretty much nothing wrong with it, its got a 4K-C hi cam seems to be the original motor, has done about 198K, every panel is straight apart from a few dents in the bonnet and roof, still got the OEM radio in it lol, a few bits of rust that isnt that bad...although there is a bit that needs attention. What i aim to do with it is, cut the rust out... and paint it black, get the door handles and toyota badges re chromed, lower it, maybe putting a body kit on it with wider guards but i don't think theres any point to it and upgrading the breaks and suspension. I plan to keep the 4K-C untill i get off my P's and maybe drop a 20v 4age in and make a drag car out of it...just something i can take down the drag strip and have a bit of fun with. Cheers guys, Matt
