That's not a 280zx dude thats a 240z or a 260z. I reckon those chrome bumpered rollas are cool. But maybe the grass just looks greener on the other side, as they say. My black bumpers do suit the car i admit, even though I have always preferred pre-1980 chromeness to all of this boxy plastic bumper stuff. I have seen some early 80's corollas with stripped bumpers and it jsut doesn't work at all, its like a person with shaved eyebrows and no ears. Maybe even with no jaw. Ok so I'm bored, but this is a true story So I'm washing my corolla today. I'm parked on the lawn and my back is to the road and I'm scrubbing some tough dirty black shit off the fender. I hear: "1600?" I turn around and theres this random guy in a suit standing there on the road looking at my car. I give him an insane look because I dunno what the f@$k he's going on about. "Is it a 1600? No! A 1200!" And I just stare at him blankly and slowly start to realise he's a moron. He walks to the back of the car and sees "toyota" and "csx" on the back. "oh, its a toyota. sorry, never mind." and walks off I dunno hey. I would have been more forgiving if he had of walked up to me and gone "...dad?" :D :P

B.O.G.A.N I've seen a few matt black paint jobs. One on a 180sx with a skull and crossbones sketched with white spraypaint on the bonnet, pretty cool in a "i'm too hardcore to look nice" kind of way.... or maybe even a mad max kind of way... maybe... another on a silvia, similar effect, i dunno though its a bit psycho. Lastly I've seen a matt black commodore with matt black mags, looks like a sort of "hillbilly from hell" deal. Like an "i'm a f@$king moron but i'm really scary" sort of look. :D Anyways don't go matt unless you're a pirate, a bogan or just really hardcore. :( Spraycan jobs can end up really average too, I'd use a spraygun over cans for sure. I have a mate who did his valiant first in spraycans with clear coat, which looked average and faded after not too long, then he did it with a gun with roof paint and its solid and glossy, good stuff. Then his car got flooded and buggered in an underground car park but thats another story. Maybe even mix your own colour when u get your hands on a spraygun! :P

I was walking around in the storm last night with my girlfriend just for kicks and i ended up getting an icecream headache. :blink: :blink: :blink: Yeah I'd assume 4K is minus the emission gear too, but what is the emission gear!? I can't seem to find anywhere that says..

What have you done to the 4k? Are you putting in a 5K or something? :D Dual headlights are way cool I would love to get my hands on some. Those chrome bumpers are pretty cool too. Are they only available in places that are not Australia? :sad:

Awesome, cheers, I'll update with how I go on the heads! :D As for whether its a CSX, I'd say it is, it has all the stuff in that CSX definition guide except I dunno where the interior boot release is. and it does have CSX badging. I guess its for real. Suncorp insurance have CSX's (XX) recorded as only starting in 1983 but they must just suck at being right.

Oh yeah by the way... you know how I have a 1981 CSX... this makes no sense considering they only made CSX from 1983. Is this true? Is there any way I can tell? From what I've heard CSX's are the only ones that come with say... a vanity mirror and a tacho. I have both. Hooray for working tacho, rock on. It was definately made in 1981, it says so on the plate in the engine bay. Does anyone reckon anything? :D

First up I may as well introduce myself... Ah my name's Rod for all the difference it makes on forums... I have a 1981 Ke70 CSX with a 4K-C. Its got dished mags and a sunroof, its been resprayed bright blue. I'll get some photos of it ASAP like when I get a camera. I also have a KE20 with a 3K and I've heard about how the 3K head has higher compression and can bolt straight on to a 4K. The KE20 is unreg and blows heaps of smoke. I want to put the 3K head on my 4K-C, is it easy? How do I do it? Do i have to bore any of the valves or anything like that or can I just chuck it straight on? Can I then put the head from the 4K-C onto the 3K block in the KE20 just for the sake of it running so I can sell it? Anyone? :P oh yeah p.s. this forum is the goodest bestest ever thing to be :D

Yes 4K-E is fuel injection but I believe 4K-C is californian emissions control... I don't know how to tell 4K-C from 4K though if anyone knows I would love to know how exactly they make it have emissions control.... that way maybe I could undo it on my engine because it probably saps power whatever it is. :D
