1976 Vw Golf Convertable - Perfect Summer Car!
RA28GT posted a topic in For Sale - Cars - Non Toyota
1976 MK1 Golf Convertable New soft top, cost $2500 Standard 1.6 4 speed Mechanically the car is in great condition, a new engine was put in her in 2005 from city dismantlers. It is unknown of exact km but at a guess I would assume around 100,000? Doesn’t use any oil or water and is super reliable. Exterior is great, there is a big bubble or rust in passenger door and some smaller spots by the front windshield but apart from that rust free and dead straight, almost no dents. Paint is in great condition too, very clean white. I have just installed height adjustable coilovers in it and it handles very well for a fwd, not too bouncy either. The car was all set up for some major wheels to go on it but it looks like I won’t get it there. Ive included a picture with my sportmax wheels on there to show what it looks like. Interior is very clean and tidy, bottoms of seats are buggered but they have seat covers, tops are very respectable. Dash is cracked but has a brand new dash mat. I’ve put in a new small steering wheel and boss kit also. Horn works. Overall the perfect summer cruiser! Would make a great daily as its great on fuel being a 1.6 and a very very very unique car no doubts at all. Just needs some wheels to finish it off! Since I've had it i have: - GTi front Lip - GTi Flares - Coilovers - New steering wheel and boss - Painted Grille and badge - Fender mirrors (being changed to different ones) p.s. most people will hate these but I've always had them and its different. - Painted wheels black (still need new rims) - Painted rear section of 'tray' - Some random pin-striping - Tidied up interior - Removed rear badges -Black exhaust tip -New dash mat Heres a couple pictures with my sportmax (NOT INCLUDED), shows it can run some fantastic offset. Asking $2700 Located in Adelaide, can be viewed at Glenelg or Hindmarsh Troy - 0431 290 861 -

hahahahahahahahahaha I thought the same thing when i got it. The one in shallow hal is a mk2 with big ass plastic bumpers and overall is even more lame. -
Hey thought i would finally put up a build thread for my Golf. I brought it to use as a daily and as something a little bit different. Ive had lots of different sorts of cars and i wanted a bit of a challenge this time to make something i thought was pretty lame into a cool car. 1976 MK1 Golf Cabriolet New soft top (YUK) cost $2500 hahahaha (it was on when i brought it) Standard 1.6 4 speed Since I've had it i have: - GTi front Lip - GTi Flares - Coilovers - New steering wheel and boss - Painted Grille and badge - Fender mirrors (being changed to different ones) p.s. most people will hate these but I've always had them and its different. - Painted wheels black (still need new rims) - Painted rear section of 'tray' - Some random pin-striping - Tidied up interior - Removed rear badges Future plans are to convert the car into a little ute by making a home made hard top, rear window and tray as i don't like the soft top. They way i will be able to have it as a ute, convertible or soft top if i want. Heres some pictures from start to where its up to now. Last one i test fitted my sportmax on there, 15x7 15p front and 15x8 0p rear, fronts were perfect but back offset is just too low. Haven't decided on what wheels i want, might stick with a set of 13's as i think 15's are a little big? What do you guys think? First day i got it (removed bling hub caps and a bunch of ricer shit) Painting the back Pin-striping Coilovers, flares, lip, mirrors Without top and rear lowered 15mm more (where it is now) Test fitting wheels:

For Sale Rat 1970 Volkswagen Type 3 Fastback Standard 1600 Exterior: Original paint and body, has a few dents but nothing major, paint is faded on roof and has a few imperfections here and there which adds perfectly to the rat style. Also runs a brown bonnet. It does have a couple ‘hoodride’ stencils and a logo on the side but these can be removed if the buyer wishes. Its currently running no rear bumper, front bumper is an early type 3 bumper complete with over-riders and spotlight. Pan and underneath is good, no structural rust, a patch has been put in under battery but has been repaired correctly. It has a single rusty eyelid installed on the drivers side also. Rear windows are stickered with retro logos. Interior: Probably my favourite thing about this fasty. It has beautiful original red trim in fantastic condition. Trims all very good near perfect, rear and passenger seat perfect, drivers has two tiny holes in top and a split in the side that isn’t very noticeable. Doesn’t have any carpet, the pan and firewall have been cleaned and has all glue removed and has been coated in tar based deadener, looks very clean. I spend alot of time restoring the dash, has been stripped back and painted a deep red, has the gauges polished and tidies up alot, looks fantastic. Also has a red trimmed parcel shelf. Wheels and Suspension The car runs wide 14x6 steelies all round. The rim is red and the centers have been painted black for a very unique look. Tyres are 195/60/14 on rear and 175/65/14 front. Fronts are new, rears need to be rotated but have life left in them. Has Atlas flappers all round. Front Runs High-Jacker Air shocks, these raise the front end by ~20mm and makes the front end 10x nicer to drive as the car is obviously quite low. Inside the cabin is a 12v compressor which inflates the shocks through a line sticking out the dash, looks very clean and tidy. Rear is down 1 spline with bumpstops and front is down 4 splines with no bumpstops. Mechanical: Engine runs good, was replaced in 1998 and has done under 30,000 miles since then. Runs an unknown cam (so a couple mechanics have told me). Revs nice and goes very well. Produces an amazing note from the custom exhaust. Extractors split into 2 resonators into two dump pipes. Car is a 3 speed automatic, shifts beautifully. Nicest auto I have EVER driven, I actually enjoy driving this auto! This car has just completed a 9 hour drive up to port Lincoln and didn’t miss a beat. One of the coolest and most unique VW’s getting around. Absolutely snaps heads wherever I take it, sounds great and looks great. I get so many waves and so many complements on her everywhere. Regretful sale but I need a super fuel economic daily as I moving down south. Looking at $2500 for quick sale, the car is absolutely worth it I’ve put alot of my time and money into her. Located in Adelaide 5045 Please contact me via a PM and I will give further details from there. Below I have included only a couple pictures (quite poor quality), much more detailed photos will be taken this TUESDAY.

They ARE NOT finished yet. They all have to be sanded to look more like the small one on the fuel cap. Excuse the horrible pictures. Will have more info on updates shortly. Ive been busy lately. -

New Plans! I havent had much time to spend on this lately so i have decided to give up on previous plans. I'm 'ratting' her, driving her and enjoying it! Ive got it on the road and its going great, drives very nice considering. Lately i have: -Installed a new exhaust, twin tips, sounds MEAN. -Got a new bumper with over-riders, cost me $10! It was f@$ked and so i have straightened it and threw on a couple spot lights. -Full service and tune worth a few hundred. -Cleaned up alot of little things. -Installed a single rusty eyelid. (it rocks) -Lowered all round. Still to come: -More stickers -Retro graphics -hood ride stencil -whatever other crap i think of? Heres a shitty iphone picture, will take some good ones once its closer to finished. -
My fastback is lower than that now.

Gt stripes are defiantly on the cards! But at $400 US ill wait for a little while. Thanks for your input guys i have decided to stay as is for a while. Later down the track once this goes weekend only ill put some 15x10's on with some flairs and thats what will make this insane!

I don't think hes a member on here. I hope my baby is doing well!

Ive never had red walls before, why do they fade so quick? Ive already done that on a KE20, these do have a polished lip too. Complementary colours? Their near opposites, they contrast wonderful but for cars i don't think that chart should be used.
-
Don't worry women don't count :P Its not really supposed to match the colour of the car, i could actually do them the exact same colour but i think it would look a bit wank. Ive just always loved JDM style wheels with red centres. Like my corolla with test fitted wheels:
