  1. Yeah?, I thought 3" was the norm for any turbo motor then up from there. Thought about going under but it is a daily. It is a pretty dodgy exhaust, like the rest of the car that I haven't had to fix yet. There's only one flange under the passenger foot well, so to get the rest out it's either a remove diff job or get the grinder out type of thing :D So 2.5 might be the way to go, and maybe even (shudders) a cannon muffler so I can fit the spare. Trying to do it on the cheap to as 1st year wages suck ass, 2.5" mufflers seem to be a lot cheaper then a 3"wouldn't think 1/2 an inch could make that much difference :hmm: Thanks Guys Dan
  2. Just wondering how others have over come the lack of space where the exhaust goes over the diff, and where it pokes out near the fuel tank. I know mines a bit different to the sedans being leaf sprung and a different tank as well as having the spare wheel under there too. At the moment the the exhaust is getting squashed between the fuel tank and floor pan, and I can't put the spare under it because it fouls on the rear muffler. I was going to cut the exhaust off before the diff and roll it over a little to miss the tank, then run a straight 3"pipe out the back with no muffler where the original muffler would have been. But thats only going to leave the hot dog/resonator at the front and she makes a bit of noise as is. Shitty pic of whats going on under there at the moment, sits a little higher of diff when on the hangers. Cheers Dan
  3. Hey champ, I stopped to get dog food today from petbarn on the way home from work, and had a quick look at your rolla in the car park. It looks good mate I really like the shape of these things. But yeah you need to paint those bits around/under the grill, It'll look heaps neater. I'll come in and say hi when I'm not so rushed to get home. Cheers Dan
  4. I found out today that we run glass beads in our shot blaster at work, I used it to clean up the strut brace that I'm making at work/Tafe. It was a pretty grubby bit of alloy checker plate (no before shots) but the blaster made short work of it :abuse: This is kind of a before and after, Wire wheel on the left, blaster on the right. and the rest, I think I'll do what VRH32 has done, plug the holes and leave the old seals on. I noticed one has a little tear anyway maybe 3mm long so I'll glue that up and go for it, Then put a kit through them. I like the raw aluminium look to, might leave them at that :owned:
  5. Angry? no It's just a little cranky! LS1 coils from Haltech $80ea, they come with built in ignitors and plugs to. I mounted the coils there so I could use the standard LS1 leads and my mechanic was kind enough to split a pack for me. $40 for 4. I did have a set of COP plugs lined up second hand but couldn't be stuffed chasing a loom to suit from a 1zz-fe/2az-fe. Not sorted yet mate but working on it, it's going back to the shop on Monday. At the track hay, I'll have to stick the ceramic button clutch back in then. Nah maybe one day when I can afford to brake shit  Cheers Dan
  6. Well I'm over my little hissy fit and soldiering on with it, I forget to set my alarm last night and slept in for work so I chucked a sicky and done some work on the wagon. I got some LS1 coils and leads and will run them with the small port dizzy as a CAS. I'm getting a cap made up for the dizzy out of alloy after the last one that was on there melted due to a piss poor manifold design. Got the coils mounted up, just need to get it back down to the work shop for some new wires and re-tune and hopefully all will be well again. I have a felling my pre-pump may be on the way out, so I'm looking into an in-tank set-up just like Med-mans wright up in the FAQ section >here<not sure if the wagon has a similar tank/pick up to the sedan but I'll find out. I've also made up a dumpy tip for the exhaust because where it finished the fumes were getting swirled around under the bumper and creeping in to the cabin. After being quoted $75 for a shiny 3" dumpy tip that I was going to pain black anyway I went a bought a 90 degree mandrel bend for $20 and chopped it up. The bloke at the exhaust shop flared the end out for free too :nervous: 1/3 the price and better then the real thing! In the process of making a strut brace for the front to, since we do f@#k all else at work/tafe I'm building this to keep me busy. Got the end plates and brackets made up, just need to TIG them together and make up the brace. There's nothing to it really for how much you pay for the "real" thing. Cheers Dan
  7. wow, Thats some top shelf work guys. Sucks to be so close to a *finished* product and little things keep popping up to hold you back. *nothings ever finished* :nervous: Cheers Dan
  8. Yeah, I'll have to find out what there running through there unit. I asked one of the 3rd year apprentices before and he looked at me like I was an idiot and said it was sand? not the brightest spark in the shed. The stuffs almost white and kind of glass like, and slippery as f@#k when it gets on the floor.
  9. I think it would depend what blasting medium was used and who was using it as well, but yes your right about the alloy being easily damaged. I've cleaned up some calipers with a soft wire wheel and if your not careful it can make a real mess real quick especially if you plan on polishing them. I've got a pair of old xt130 corona calipers that I might test out in the blaster first, see how they go :D
  10. Hahaha, I like your style  Why paint when you can polish them 8/
  11. As above then, 1: Go to edit profile information 2: Go to custom member title at top of page Too easy
  12. Hay, good stuff mate Getting in and doing it is the only way to learn, just make sure you keep all the important bit's it the correct order they came out in. Anyway good luck with it mate. Love the race car too mate, might bring mine out for a spin if It stays with me. Getting more motivated each day too persist with it. Cheers Dan
  13. Thanks mate, I was having a read of this thread here and was wondering if anyone had some more info on whats involved ie: small port dizzy as a cam angle sensor and LS1 coils (built in igniters) I'm gonna have a chat with my mechanic/tuner this week if I get a chance, see what he recons about it. I no theres at least one person thats done it :hmm: Cheers Dan
  14. Hey guys, As some will know I've just brought a small port dizzy instead of a big port unit for my 4agte. But I have been tood a couple of times now that the small port dizzy has 4 wires and the big port only 3, but my old dizzy has 4 wires as well. So how many different dizzy's are there, could it be a gze dizzy? Anyway, What I was thinking and I have been searching, was to use the small port dizzy as a CAS and run multiple coil packs. Just wondering whats involved/needed. I'm running an Autronic ecu so that shouldn't be a problem The dizzy has 24+1 teeth like below Any info, ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Dan
  15. It's an Autronic smc
  16. I know, my wife's already kicking me. AE70- do you know if I can use the small port dizzy on my motor? Cheers Dan
  17. Honestly, It's just really giving me the shits right know, but I can't really see anyone paying what I want for it either.
  18. So thats a no then, fair enough. I was just being a lazy bastard anyway Thanks guy's
  19. Now for sale/eoi/swap
  20. Hey Hey, I just picked up some HILUX 4x4 calipers for my rolla and was thinking about giving them a coat of paint to clean them up a bit. I was thinking about chucking them in the medium blaster at work, but I don't want to strip them because they work fine. Can I just mask off any areas that should be avoided like the pistons? obviously it will need some heavy duty tape or a few layers at least. Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on the do's and don't's. Cheers Dan
  21. So how many turned up? Couldn't have asked for better weather for it.
  22. Nice daily mate, but what's under the engine bay? The road? :)
  23. the one in your avatar?
  24. Man, I so wish I could make it. I got what was supposed to be my dizzy in the mail today, but the dudes mum got the packages mixed up and I ended up with some Melbourne dudes dashboard? I'm in Lithgow mate, I would have for sure. I'm working in Bathurst now, what do you drive mate?
  25. Yeah someones gotta know of some cool cruise destination's. The pic's in the other thread are the same place I drove my sister to to get her wedding photos taken, very nice location but that hills a bitch when you've got to carry an esky full of beer and wine to the top. I remember reading somewhere a while ago (toy mods maybe?) about a cruise to the Wolgan/Mega long valley area Don't know how that turned out but I see enough of the bush and would rather go coastal personally, something about beaches and bikinis appeals to me  Anyway, I'm in Lithgow on the other side of the Blue Mountains west of Sydney. I've got a Dizzy on the way but Australia post sucks ass and trying to find time to get it to the shop to get it locked and the timing set up is the problem. I wonder how much a rental rolla would cost for the day  I just bought a new digital video camera to for the cruise, and started making a mount for some in car camera action, devastated.
