Hi Rob, I am still in contact with the guy that built it. Was originally poo brown with the SR and can be seen in the serious performance dvd 3 or 4. Has been built for about 10 years. So back in the bay it was a very new conversion. Happy to discuss the guy who built it but not on an open forum, PM me if you would like. The second owner of the car rebuilt the engine to its current specs. His name is BEN and I believe that he works for Insight Motorsport or can obtain information for there. Off memory it is has forged bottom end (not sure of brand) and the head has had some work with 272 cams. Justin

The problem with the radiaor only started after the alloy core one was put in. Car never had a problem with the old style radiator after speaking the the guy that built it the other night. I believe that when it has been totally rebuilt by Ben (3 owners ago - but still not the guy that built it originally) there has been an earth problem with the radiator that it causing it to coninually crack. Only my 2cents worth however. I would look at getting a complete new core from PWR and earthing it, plus it will keep up the great appearence of that engine bay. Good luck with it Justin

Very interested in this car. I found pictures on the web about 18 months ago and then could get no information. Good that you have finally started to enjoy and further modify it. I am very interested in your front brake setup? I would love to come and have a look in person if possible? Where are you located PM only if you want? Congrats once again -
I will be there! Havent missed one in 11 years. Wont be there in the rola but have entered my other car (HQ Kingswood). So if anyone wants to come for a cruise just come over and say hello, oh the HQ is standard metallic brown with a white roof, gts rims and white walls. Unfortunately wont be able to make the thursday night meet up. Driving down friday morning Cheers Justin

Thats not a bad time for that car on street tyres. Has gone 11.1 at around that mph but with slicks. Hope you are enjoying the car, it is one fun car to watch and be in. Good luck with it

I put complete Ke30 hubs, disc and calipers on my Ke26 and they work great. Still locks up the fronts but you don't have to adjust them every 6 weeks (drums)

The have a really bad name - which is undersantable I thought the same until i went for a drive in a galant wagon with a 2.6L sigma motor, magna head (for the injection) and a turbo. My life changed after that i actually have a little respect for the humble 2.6L. That car is now for sale, I will try to post up a pic in the next couple of days (with the owners permisson). But in short it runs 10.80 @ 126mph and has 360 or 380hp at the wheels. People in Sydney might remeber it as the bright yellow colour galant wagon with the plates SPASTIC (not sure on the way it was spelt) All in all it looks like a great buy for $300 until you get your rolla fixed.

I always clean the block with some metho on a rap to get any oil off it and fit the head with some copper spray as per Taz
-
Good to see this car again. Looks like it has gone to a good owner. Good luck with it. from memory it pulled something like 368hp at the wheels when my mate owned it. (Did you buy it off a guy named Matt, also know the guy that originally built it) It is a very nice car Cheers Justin

x5 It will be the best purchase you have ever made. I thought that having a Ke20 was goo and then I bought my 26 for $450 with 3 months rego from Bathurst because the guy wanted to buy a KIA (what a mistake he made). The only thing better was getting a Ke26 2door panelvan for nothing (long story) Good luck and hopefully you will join the ranks of 26 owners Justin

Congrats on the build, I have just read the hole thread and have a couple of questions? What gearbox are you running ? is it a w5x or a R154 and did you have to modify the sump (turn it 180 and re weld it)or did you get a front hump sump ? congrats once again it is great little car. Justin

I have to amend my top post. After consultation with the financial controller (wife) Consider it sold. You have a PM WOOOHOOO another one Justin
-
NNNOOOOO!!! don't do it!!! You will regret it. Money will come and go but good cars are for life :) Just my 2cents worth Justin
-
They look great. Are the rims corona rims ? Cheers Justin

Thanks guys for the feedback, I think that I am going to try to hang onto it and take a leaf out of "bunzke" book

hahaha, unfortunatly begging is not going to get it. Once i decide what to do with it I will send you a pm. I might have what you are after from stripping another 26 but i wont be able to tell you for another couple of weeks (still moving house and have no shed at the moment) Congrats on your build. It has inspired me to convert my 4 door 26 wagon into a street sleeper. You have some serious dedication to that car and it should see it in the 10's if not the 9's by the way you have set it up so far. What have you done for you front brakes and strut setup to fit the convo's Cheers Justin

Just picked this up and have not decided what i am to do with it (also the wife is not to impressed due to having a Ke26 4door and a 72 HQ kingswood) It is fairly rustly but still able to be saved, all the trim and mouldings are good and the tailgate does not have any rust at all. If I am to keep it, it will probably get a SR20det and set up for the drags but still street rego'd Tell me what you think?
-
This is the panelvan that i have just picked up. I thought we are not seeing the other one so might as well see one. I just havent decided to save it or sell it.
-
I just got given one, but it has some rust in it and not driveline. I am always after those little bits that are had to get hold of, it dosent matter how rusty it is always get it. Is it still available?
-
Thats a big job, not for the faint hearted. I hope that you mate has the skills. I have a looked at a Ke20 door compared to a Ke26 and they have the same body lines so you would be able to take the skin of a Ke20 door and put it onto a Ke26 frame but obviously shorten the skin. I hope this makes sense. Good luck
-
I third that i am always wanting to see more 26's. I am just about finished collecting all the bits to do the same conversion. Cherrs, Justin

Just looked under my 26 and they have not stamps on them at all. i will check a set that i have at home tonight and post if i find anything.

i have to say that this car is great in real life. the photos do not do it justice, the interior is great as well. If you have any photos please show it to the rest of the people. I spent about 20mins looking at this car on a rolla club cruise from the meeting point at autobarn (i was the guy in the Ke26) What brake system is he running ? I am starting the same conversion on my 26 at the end of the year. All i need is the front strut solution and then i have everything. Once again congrats, this is a great car

I have worked out that you can use size 8 rubber grommets from and automotive place - I got mine from spectrum rubber. These rubber grommets / o-rings will go into the wiper arm and slide over the wiper motor ball. All else that needs to be done is put a little grease on the rubber to help them rotate easily and cause less stress on the motor. Hope that this helps. i will post up a picture soon
