ive had similar problems. sometimes it has good consuption (about 6.5L to 100km) and other weeks its screwed, even after some carby cleaner. i think 25 yr old carbys are just....shit
-
i already have the corona LCA, but whats the issue with them over the sigma? i know the sigma arms create more neg camber, but alot of people have debated over the issue of the corona LCAs creating positive camber. is this an issue due to the length of the strut? i have the coilover setup, rotor, hub, corona LCA with new bushes and the 86 steering arms under the bed and ready to install. I'm not planning on lowering the front end too much LittleRedSpirit, maybe only 50mm... plus this is all going into a daily used car. so i can't have it so stiff that it causes premature death of my shocks...isnt that the issue of too harder springs on bumpy as shithouse roads like SA haha. as well as chassis issues.. cheers edit: or is the issue with the positive camber only applicable to the corona struts?
-
the coilovers are a complete set up... so why would i need springs to suit fitting the ke spring perch? wouldnt i just rip the old strut out and put the coilover strut straight in?
-
where can you get springs made to suit? and is it an expensive process? i already have a pair of coilovers on 86 struts, i just need to get 3 kg springs and some pads and they should be fine to go in... but would it be easier to sell up and go with the corona upgrade instead?
-
SIDEWINDER: this looks like exactly what i want to do to mine ke70. bushes arent hard to do, you can get a fancy ass press or you can just use a clamp at home that with a metal tube on the other side to allow the bush to get pushed all the way through. if you want to do this though...you might as well get a pair of corona xt130 LCAs with the ball joint and all and change the bushes at home as it will be a vast improvement on the ke70 std LCAs. this wont cost you alot either, i think i picked my bushes up for 25 and my LCAs for 50 so one you put them in though you will need a realignment though, so make sure of that. I'm in the same boat as you with "what to actually get" to feel the improvement, as well as not spend a shit load. i made the mistake of buying before thinking, so i currently have a pair of 86 coilovers with 7 kg springs which i don't think I'm going to need! PLUS.. EVERYONE ELSE WITH KNOWLEDGE maybe to add to the noob questions, as I'm one too.. i was thinking of the corona strut upgrade, as ive heard they are way better than the 86 strut, plus they have twin piston brakes. but can you actually just buy the corona strut leg, steering arm, hub and brakes and that will bolt STRAIGHT onto the ke70 spring seat? or what needs to be modified for the upgrade? cheers
-
hey guys. i just wanted to put the question out there as to what you specifically need to mod in the corona struts.. heres my idea, but i this is a collaboration of other peoples + a few of my own. corolla top hats, cut ford EB springs, corolla spring seat, corona strut leg, corona steering arm, corona RCA, corona brakes (caliper and disc) for the front. NOTE: brakes is for the time being, i plan to go up to the hilux/peugot upgrade when i can. KYB VN wagon shocks and cut ke70 springs in the rear. note that my car isnt aimmed specifically at drift but grip, so i don't want the stiffest back end. i just want to know from others: 1. if this is the correct way to do it or if the corona strut COMPLETE bolts in or what. 2. what shocks do i run on the front end if i want to lower my car about 2 inches. 3. do the ford front springs from the EA-EB falcon go into the front of a ke70. i can't really afford to have my car off of the road for long, so i need to know this stuff so my car isnt gonna just sit there while i need to be at work, earning the money for later upgrades :S cheers.

Whats The Best Suspension Setup Under $1000
ke70_sa replied to ke70_sa's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
well! cheers guys... haha i should have mentioned that i had already been under the assumption of corona struts and the brake upgrade. i was just re-thinking the corona move because i didnt know that they are that decent an upgrade! well this is all good news and i will follow on as planned.. if anybody would like to help me with the actual conversion of the parts that would be awesome! I'm in brighton area, but regularly in blackwood/coro valley as its my old area + mates + the missus in belair. so any S.A boys that would be willing to help, a cartons there for ya if ya can haha. cheers edit: yeah i don't really need the drift spec - therefore the reason behind wanting softer setup. good to see it aint all d-spec on here and i can get the help. -
Whats The Best Suspension Setup Under $1000

cheers for your help mate. good to get a solid response. if anybody else has helpful comments I'm all ears ! -
ive got a topic on 86DC which is similar, but i really want more answers than "mod this" and "mod that" id really like some more definate answers as to what i can buy for under $1000 that will set my car up, front and back, with a decent suspension upgrade. i know shocks are going to be a fairly large cost of the upgrade as i want new (ish) parts. so far i have: - xt130 corona control arms with new fulcrum bushes which i need to put in - castor rod bushes I'm planning on getting corona stock springs cut for the back because i run it daily & i don't really feel like having VL or EB springs killing me on every little bump. plus itll kill my shocks quicker & i want a more grip set up, rather than drift. anybody with experience & knowledge is welcome, because thats all I'm lacking! haha cheers

hi all. I'm upgrading to the xt130 struts and i wana lower my car pretty much 2 inches all round as its a daily and i don't wana cause too much attention. anybody know precisely what shocks & springs i should get & where. i was looking into 300lb linear lovell springs for the front, but i don't know where the best/cheapest places to pick up ANY of these parts in SA. and for the rear, i don't want it to be stiff as all hell, so i was only thinking of cutting some corona springs and getting shocks to suit...if i cut those corona springs about 2 inches, what shocks would be best? help would be appreciated muchly. cheers guys ps. I'm in brighton area, so lonsdale & places down there are easiest. norths a bit too far to travel
-
i dunno if i remember reading it on here or on 86DC. but i SWEAR i heard somethin about VL shocks and some commodore shit goin into a ke70. i got a pair of rear VS shocks now that are in good cond. anyone care to help me out? if not...anybody wana buy some? haha cheers

Rb20 In A Ke70: You Guys Recon Its Possible?
ke70_sa replied to ke70_sa's topic in General Mechanical
to AE71wagon...i answer your why with coz i want power haha, i mean its never easy doing a motor conversion and i was thinking a 6 cyl would put out more torque than a CA or SR, but i never really have done much research into such things, just that a few mates have got RB20s for sale so i considered the conversion. i don't have money this year, I'm doing it next year when i have a job haha. no income = no upgrades peace -
Rb20 In A Ke70: You Guys Recon Its Possible?
ke70_sa replied to ke70_sa's topic in General Mechanical
more than anything, the main features of a new motor i want is EFI and turbo. problem with the RB30 would only be i would need to get a VLT to get the turbo motor or do a turbo conversion myself, which would be good for a project, but in the end, this is essentially going to be a daily. thats why a CA18DET is looking the go from what you guys have said. but if anybody again has further suggestions that would be good. -
Rb20 In A Ke70: You Guys Recon Its Possible?
ke70_sa replied to ke70_sa's topic in General Mechanical
cheers for the help guys. i didnt really start the topic to talk about the cross breeding, i was just seeing what people thought of getting an RB in a KE70. BUT..it was good to hear everybodies thoughts, coz at the moment I've got a weak down-draft weber and exhaust and I'm just sort of sick of having the same old thing. if people say the RB's too big i would probably agree and say downsize, but from what i know, the potential of a nissan motor, either CA or SR would far outweigh the 4AGE's as yeah, i agree, ive looked around and they are fair expensive for NOT that much of an upgrade. Paulie...you got anyone you know who might be able to hook us up ;) from what I've seen of you car its sick cheers again -
hey fellas, i was thinking of upgrading later on in the year, after i set up the car a little better (eg. suspension, brakes, rims) and i was thinking of putting an RB20 in....i know its Nissan and you'll tell me to piss off to NS haha, but i was wondering if you recon it could be done, problems i will face (other than the fact that a motor conversion is generally difficult, plus i realise crossing manufacturers can be suicide) but i was just wondering about any OTHER issues with a Ke70 in general motor conversion, as I'm sure even troubles occur when it comes to 4AGE's and stuff being put in the rollas. cheers
