I came into this thread intending to ask why you would want to put a 3 litre diesel hilux motor in your corolla (5L)...
...then was shocked to find you'd had an even worse idea.
correcting some misinformation in the above
up to ra40 are solid discs (rolla_boy70)
ra60 on are vented discs (bowler)
xt130 are solid discs (falken_ke30)
cheapest ~ commo v6
other options are many, depends on what you want
ca, sr, bp, 4a, 12a/13b, etc
built 2t can produce > 100kw atw naturally aspirated if you want period style
5k will struggle to do that without forced induction
i concur with the other posters
for all intents and purposes the ta22 or ta23/ra23/ra28 diff is much the same as the te72 diff
but the width is the same as your ke55 diff so you can retain your existing wheels
recommend you go that way
i have one in the garage for my ke36, same thing
seriously though to be more useful to the OP
I'm about to undertake a 3VZ-FE swap into my KE36 (same as TE31).
Would be happy to keep you in the loop with how things go but not going to be moving on it quickly.
