Some more progress on the weekend.
Painted up the engine mounts and THIS CLOSE to mounting the motor back in the enginebay, but lack of fasteners…
Will post up pics and more progress soon.
The saga continues...
Water pump housing is with my fabricator MLT323 getting the rear outlet welded up and cleaned up.
Took my aw11 alternator in to Bankstown Auto Electrics to exchange for a reco one and get the t3 pulley fitted.
Turns out I need to get the pulley bored out as the shaft on the aw11 alternator is a little thicker than the ae86 one, so machinist will hook that up.
Anyone else had experience with aw11 alternators on rwd setups?
Good on you Jase!
All the hard work has paid off and nobody deserves it more then you...we both know the ride hasn't been smooth ;)
And by the way, I'm still waiting for a ride...whenever youre ready buddy ;0 hehe
thanks guys...
still a couple more things to do before I'm happy with it, like paint the engine mounts and bracket stuff, put alternator back together, etc.
Not a whole heap going on...
timing belt is done
waiting for my new RWD water pump & genuine Toyota seals, which should be arriving within the week.
never thought a couple of seals would give me such a headache!
nah it's my stock one.
I took it apart and checked clearances, replaced the seals and put it back on.
Also spent a good amount of time cleaning it. haha
Thanks fellas.
Anyone got any ideas on torque'ing the oil pump bolts?
The manual lists a torque that is lower than my torque wrench can get to...does that mean just use best judgement? or get a smaller torque wrench?
Some nice rust under the batter tray:
Home-made rear oil seal retainer gasket (used ACL .4mm gasket paper)...very proud of myself :)
New rear main seal in
New oil pump crank seal in
Big thanks to Shane (YLD-16L) for all the helping info and tips over SMS...you are a very patient and knowledgeable man.
