  1. Jono: thanks for the info, i want it to look good so i'll probably cut and weld it in reverse. FatBC: thanks for the advice. that Federal battery sounds like the go then. I definately wanna run a system, so it will be a perfect mix. Thats a good price too, last time i checked a good optima went for 300+ Cheers, Mark M
  2. Hi all, just wondering of the different methods people have used to recess the protruding "bump" in the firewall that ke20's have...If you have pics it would be great, but even an explenation would be great. Cheers, Mark M
  3. Yeah micky! go retro...i love the retro/hotrod styles that are coming through now... will be back in the garage on saturday morning with my new skinnier tyres & attempting to install the motor/box... i will need to modify the "bump" in the firewall, with a bit of heat & a mallett.. will post up pics, as usual.. Cheers, Mark M
  4. nah mate, it hits on the INNER part (leaf & "tub"), just means i need rims with a bigger dish...which is what i wanted... it has at least 2inches left in the guards, and thats without rolling them. cheers, Mark M
  5. Few pics My best mate, working his magic... "Houston, we have a problem!" Going to get narrower tyres this week...it rests on the leaf & inner guard...damn ute tyres...
  6. Gday mate, this thing is going to pull sideways all day..HAHA "i like!"-borat well done on your work so far, your a busy boy it seams... Keep us posted. Mark M
  7. HAHA, ur a dangerous man Mick...in a motorsport sense anyway... I spoke to ur FJ in my dreams last night, it spoke to me...."..give me boost...booOOOOoossttt..." hahaha, well done with the build mick, not one person i know who's seen this car has said a bad thing about it... awesome quality of build. Do you reckon you could post some more close-ups of your Hilux's rear disk setup? Cheers, Mark M
  8. Any thing happening with this beast? Can you please post up some more pics of the rear (firewall) section where the notorious ke20 "bubble" section is?? You going to stick with the stock diff? Keep us updated, this car is looking great... Cheers, Mark M
  9. Hey Micky! how r ya mate? any news on this peice of artwork? I want to see this thing run in the flesh at WSID... Give the people what they want....MORE PICS!! hahaha Cheers, Mark
  10. I Love this car...actually, make that lust....
  11. HAHA thanks mick, i haven't decided on front brakes yet, but it will be something MUCH bigger than stock with the Ford 5stud pattern, will also have remote brake booster located in the dash. well for now I'll leave the car stock, untill I have all the motor setup & running, so I know i won't have to do any more cutting/butchering etc in the engine bay or on any other part of the car. Eventually I'll be looking at having it resprayed in a non-factory colour...SORRY MICK!...haha sitting on Simmons or Billets, full leather interior, etc...nothing "fully sick" just a tasteful, clean streeter. i really like the stock sleeper look, but not what i'm looking for in this car. Having said that, I 100% respect the work that goes into the street sleepers and "stock" looking cars....but every man has his vice, and this is mine. but who knows, things may change :abuse: haha Cheers, Mark M
  12. Bloody oath! haha thanks for the gee-up brother... going back on saturday to mod that bit i circled, secure the diff down properly, then it will pretty much be on hold till June as i'll be in Italy on holiday... Cheers, Mark
  13. $1015- cut down and weld on all mounts, withg new wheel bearings. I supplied the complete diff (housing, axles, centre, drums). I am sticking with the Hilux 5 stud patern, will convert the front when i come to do the front brakes. Here are the pics: The Housing The Axles Mounted with Axles in The part needing modification to fit U-bolts :nervous: Will update again this weekend when i get back to it... Cheers, Mark M
  14. Thanks for the words mate, FINALLY got to put the diff in on Friday, after waiting 2 hours at the shop because it wasn't put back together, even tho the guy said it would be ready "for sure"... quoted price was 880, which went up to 1015 because he put new wheel bearings without telling me he was charging me... The work looks great & fit perfect, but i just don't like being dicked around or lied to. ANYWAY, have to slightly modify the leaf bracket this weekend to accept the Ubolts, and will be using the original Hilux base plate and U-bolts... There is a slight complication: becuase of the axle housing size, the lower shock bolt doesnt line up... will post up pics tonight. Cheers, Mark M
  15. Update... After much delay and being dicked around more than a trip to Brokeback Mountain, i am picking the diff up tommorow. In the mean time i have managed to score a Hilux LSD centre for $200... on the list for 2moro is also some new U-bolts and lower shock mount bolts. will HOPEFULLY have some pics for you soon (It's been over a month at KCDR Drive Trains, when they initially told me ONE WEEK!)... Cheers, Mark M
  16. thanks heaps for the words mate, Actually, since day one i've been in contact with drag racers, mechanics and the like who are all running or who have run similar setups. I know...i get sick of these forums sometimes, some extremely valuable info from some, but also some complete idiots... I love getting advice, it inspires me to change my ideas and setup plan...BUT i hate being told what to do (eg: "you should just go t25/28...even that will be too much power & will save you hassle"). like u said, advice is valuable if it's coming from people who KNOW (not think they know) what theyr talkin about. the thing to remember is: I'm building this car for ME (it has to be unique)...and there are no rights & wrongs, only lessons to be learnt. Now this doesn't mean i don't take advice, like i said i love it...just don't badmouth something without experience or proof. Cheers, Mark M
  17. UPDATE! Picking up the diff from KCDR Drive Trains tomorrow. it's all finished and ready to bolt on. Will be installing it pretty much straight away... now i just need to find some wheels for it to roll around on...5 stud Hilux/Ford... Cheers, Mark M
  18. haha yeah i got home ok, just a little poorer than i was in the morning. Just wanna give a big THANKS to everyone who lent a helping hand... hopefully when my rolla's on the road i won't have so much bad luck. Moral of the story, don't drive a car to Terrigal when it's gearbox has been whining for 2 months... :y: some awesome corollas out there, well done to everyone for the effort they've put into their cars, and thanks to Mick & associates for the organisation. it was a big gee-up to see so many nice cars. Waiting for the next cruise, Mark M
  19. HAHAHAHA hi there guys, was an awesome cruise...untill my charade got stuck in reverse! turns out it was leaking gearbox oil for a fair time, heating up the gears and basically welding some of the gearbox parts together... got a tow back to sydney, 400 bucks later... Thanks to RadRollaz for the organisation, was a great day aside from some minor hitches..hahah MINOR! Cheers, Mark M
  20. Man, i'm so geed up for this cruise...especially can't wait to meet everyone in the rolla community... Spewin that mine is off the road and i have to drive the daily... :) See you all at Villawood. Mark M
  21. It's all good, I understand... hahaha See y'all there! cheers, Mark M
  22. Count me in! but unfortunately i will be outcast, driving my Daihatsu Charade... Anyone else taking theyr daily slug (non-rolla)? Look out for the white charade with airhorns :y: cheers, Mark
  23. Awesome, i'll be there... good luck with everything, and if u see a white Charade on the cruise, give us a beep. cheers, Mark M
  24. OUCH! that must have hurt... How's the car coming along? any progress? Cheers, Marky Mark
  25. HAHA thanks for the Gee-up guys... Ran out of money after Chrissie (same old story), so things slowed down. The diff is booked in for 18th of this month to get cut down, going 1" on each side shorter than the standard ke20... then i'll put it on the car, convert drums to disks (kit/brackets from Craft Differentials) THEN (hopefully around Easter) the car is off to HiTech Mods to have motor fitted, g'box xmember made and the rest.... My mates 323 is almost ready, 12aBP, just needs diff work and prop shaft and it's a goer! Damn carbie rotaries are so easy... ATM just saving as much as possible, Thanks again for the inspirational words guys, It's much appreciated! Cheers, Mark M
