  1. it is mud, with all this rain we are getting
  2. Ive always wondered what a full chromed car would look like. Too bad if you were driving into the sun. Reflections off the bonnet would kill you.
  3. I find i need to tell everyone the price i payed for this as i havent seen any like this cheaper. The only ones i have seen cheaper are really rusted out or pulled apart missing pieces. So to elaborate what it had when i bought it: Minimal rust 82,668 original miles Single owner 7 months rego Decent condition interior Complete Original wheels with hubcaps Engine starts REALLY easy Un molested Original books Near full tank of fuel All for $1250 What do you all think?
  4. Yes it looking much better now. Havent bothered with the window chromes as of yet as i have 3 cars begging for my money, go figure. I had a guy come into work on sunday, he was driving past, saw my car parked out the front of work, so he popped in and asked who's car it was. the register girl told him it was mine and pointed him in my direction. He was saying he has one himself which he has stripped down to basically nothing and is rebuilding it. He offered me some 14x6 hotwire mags, an exhaust system, and a recently rebuilt 5k with a mild cam. All for $500 or just the hotwires for $100. so i will be giving him a call tomorrow, (now i have been paid some dollars), and working out if i shall buy all or some. Definately the wheels at the least. He also was saying he has quite a few spare parts to suit. Straight rear bumper, decent condition dash, uncracked steering wheel. He was also saying that he had never seen the parcel shelf that goes underneath the whole dash, the one in this picture http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?a...st&id=21118 Can get a better pic upon request if needed. I shall also be going into auto one or repco to buy some new tie rods. Mine are majorly rooted. Also on the need soon list are some new front struts, These ones are rooted also (wont pass rego). so some stuff is happening, slowly but surely. Cheers
  5. This is the closest i can go. so i drew an arrow.
  6. You say you were giving it a thrashing...So more than likely the clutch just got excessively hot, so wasnt engaging when you put your foot on the clutch hence crunching in gearbox. Then as you got futher back it had cooled off so when you went to use it it was good again. Hope this is somehow helpful. Jake EDIT: Just re-read first post and you say its still crunching, could also be excessively worn from the thrashing. Dunno. Not as sure about it now.
  7. Found some nice seat covers today, so i bought them to cover up the cracked top on the back seat and to keep the rest of them in good condition aswell. (Speakers in photo's also) I had the car on the hoist the other day and did a bit of further inspection. Found a patch of rust that needs some attention soon. But overall was quite impressed. Thats all i have done to it for now. Although looking at either a 4k or possibly a 5k for a bit of extra get up and go and probably a 5 speed aswell. Cheers
  8. Speakers are in, didnt cut any trim. An achievement if i have ever made one. No photo's yet, but the speakers crank up quite nicely. It was just a quick job, so they were in there. Still gets peoples attention. Gimme a few days for photo's. Cheers
  9. A ford escort with a rather potent engine transplant. There were two of these there owned by the same guy. one was put on the dyno the other was his burnout car...which caught on fire, as seen in the picture Twin supercharged Tonner VK Promo car...I think he broke something!!! Another one of the HK
  10. Some action shots from the top 10 burnouts. Some really nice cars in here getting a good old thrashing!! Hi-ace van with some form of V8 on NOS Datsun 200B with a 308 and blue tyres Ford Cortina HK Monaro aka The Revmaster...My favourite car from the weekend This picture is so you can see the car rather than just smoke.
  11. I got productive today, I decided to pull apart my celica's dash and put the Head unit out of it into the KE25. Yet to install the speakers as i need to buy the board to make speaker boxes so i don't have to cut up my car. Plus i found a few other things to possible salvage out of the celica for the rolla. But unsure. The celica is my next project so they might stay in there. But anyways Pictures!! Then there is the massive jumble of wires in the doner car. I gots me some work to do on that project. But thats later down the track. I also cleaned the underside of my bonnet as it was filthy. Before (with small section cleaned off): After: I also did a general service, replaced the fuel filter (hadnt been done for a VERY long time) but still havent got around to degreasing the engine. thats for another day when I'm more motivated. Next on my agenda is doing the speakers. Let me know what you think. Cheers Jake
  12. I didnt make it to summernats but i did go to kandos. There was a nice KE20 there, didnt find out it was a rolla till he was putting it on the trailer. But it sounded really awesome. Didnt find out what engine it had either, and no pictures either as my camera was locked in my mates car and he ran of to feed his face. SMITE HIM!!! Anyways i like this Group A Commodore. Especially with this dyno readout (at 10,000RPM) Then some Dirt Work Anyway i have LOTS more photo's from kandos so ask and you shall recieve!!!!
  13. I Got my Radiator Back After its recore, it got put in on friday afternoon, but didnt get a real chance to give it a run over the weekend (was at Kandos Street Machine and Hot Rod Show), so i took it out today. Took it around the mount to see how it went. This is the in-car video: All i can say is The car is much better to drive when the temp gague stays down. So i have my new daily going. Looking at a new steering wheel soon, this one is Rooted. There are a few cracks over it (on the back), safer to replace. Undecided on whether to try to find an un-cracked stock one, or to just go out and get an aftermarket one to use for now. Still undecided on whether to do it up or send it back to original spec. but if i do it up, I will be keeping all the original gear to return it at a later date. My mate was saying his grandparents might have a 5K sitting in their shed not being used, so if i find out it is i will buy that. Story is, it was an insurance job, it was using a little bit of oil so it was replaced, it only has around 10,000km on it. Heres Hoping!!! Anyways, hope you all enjoy. Jake
  14. 3 incidents i have been in. 1st: I was 14, helping my mum out by starting the car to warm it up for her, turned the ignition and the car was still in gear, went into shed that was 1m away. even though handbrake was still on. (Landcruiser) 2nd: I was 15, reversing my aunties commodore out of the driveway so dads mate could get out, was watching the nose of the car didnt hit the fence as i swung it around, and wasnt looking behind me and found telegraph pole (speed = foot off brake in auto) 3rd: Turned right at a really bad angled intersection in busy traffic (safe gap), as you come out there is a set of traffic lights 20m away, commodore wagon that had just passed was stopping for the light which had changed to red, was double checking gap didnt notice he had stopped. I looked, saw, jumped on brakes, nudged his towbar. No damage to either cars, thank god. (speed = less than 15kph)
  15. Nice work. Looks Sweet. What did you use to clean the hub caps? They came up a treat.
  16. Nice work mate. Glad to see your keen to take the rolla anywhere. Inspiration for anyone else to go 4wd-ing in a small car???
  17. The radiator is completely and utterly rooted. So its getting recored at the moment. Should only take a few days and it will be done. Woop.
  18. I have only gotten around to removing some of my sound deadening out of my AE71, I used a hammer and chisel and chipped away at mine. Not using a heat gun and doesnt take too long to do. I got the LH rear bit done in about 1.5 hrs. I decided on doing it this way as i just got bored and started picking at it with a screwdriver, then decided on a hammer and chisel. Car looks good, Will be a quick little track car when your done.
  19. Lol at commodore reference. Too many of them in bathurst have lockers. Even in car parks you hear cars going through, the wheels are going insane. Saw someone get done for having a locker too (P-Plater). Moral of the story: It aint worth it!
  20. Progress wont be happening too quick on this one, although the radiator is getting taken to be fixed in the morning, don't know how long it will be or how extensively it will need repairing. Still undecided on what to do with the car. Will find out how it cleans up, then decide i guess. Whatever way i go this will be a daily. Quick question: How hard (if possible) is it to find the chrome strips that go in the window rubbers? Mine are trashed so will need replacing. Cheers Jake
  21. Tha sounds really good. Wish my car was suitable. I would love to be able to go flat out around the whole track for once. Rather than just sections. would be sooo much better. I'm sure it will be enjoyed by all.
  22. Might have to head up and have a look at some nice rolla's on the track. Is it full lap racing or just sections of the track?
  23. Thanks for the replies. I forgot to add in the original post as i was quite tired, We didnt get home from driving back until 1.30am. So from 5pm till 1.30am from Wollongong to Bathurst.
  24. I'm undecided if its going to stay a stocker or not. I'm leaning more towards fixing it up and returning it to its original glory. But even if i don't ill keep the original parts and return it to stock if i sell it. It has 7 months rego on it so yes it will be a daily once radiator is fixed.
