  1. YUP Thats around ~80kmh in 2nd in a ke55
  2. and thats one of the reasons my next car is a gas fowlcoon. the most torque you can get out of any six cylinder. Four times the torque of the 4k. its so weird taking a huge automatic 4L falcon taxi to bed in the brakes or whatnot and getting in my ke55 to drive home. Its an unbelievable step backwards, even tho the cab has 500,000 and the little corollie only has 339,000. poor little car, its life is very limited with me. i'm selling it veeery soon(like within the next 4-5 months).
  3. adelaide - i think you're right. woudln't be worth it cheers nonetheless

  9. Hey guys i had a slight fender bender in the corolla yesterday i changed lanes on a vs commodore in my blind spot, i just tapped him with my drivers side rear bumper, and hit his passengers side fender, gave it a dent. My insurance excess is not good so we're gonna do it privately My question is: Can any of you recommend a cheap professional panelbeaters on brisbane's northside? I want to get it done as cheaply as possible, but i still need to go through a professional looking place (hard to get the both i know) and are there any other things i can get the fella to tell them? ie i have heard that panelbeaters give different quotes for private vs. insurance. is this true? cheers fellas
  10. Yep. I think i might just write a little letter... Does anyone know anything about autobarn? are they franchises or owned by the one company?
  11. amen to that muller the damn distributor says bosch on the cap, so i don't know why he thought it was a good idea to take the cap off. but the old points still sparked when you moved them with your finger weird so do you reckon he f@$ked it? or coincidence?
  12. Here's a little story for you all. I know i needed some new points for my ke55 4k-c stocko, so i went down to autobarn at lawnton to get some new ones. the fella says does it have a bosch or denso distributor, I said I don't know. So he comes out to look at the car, takes off the distributor cap, has a look and puts it back on. Bosch sure enough. So i go inside, get the parts, pay, walk out, get in lil champ and she don't start. She cranks just like normal but won't kick over. Plenty of fuel, started first time every time in the 20,000klms i've owned her. WTF. So i take the dizzy cap off and put it back on again and try again, nothing. So i go in, get the guy, tell him it don't start now, and he says, so, big deal. He comes outside, says 'all i did was take the cap off and put it back on again, your problem, ring the racq or something' so i wasn't too impressed to say the least. So some dude came and had a tinker, couldn't find the problem. Then a little later a different autobarn employee was on his lunchbreak and came and had a tinker too, seems everything was working right except no spark to the plugs. So he devises that my points are dead (?) and he puts in the new points i had just bought. Car starts. Weird. Here's my Q. Could the original fella have 'broken' the points? (there was no physical damage on the points, just a bit of pitting) Or was it just plain coincidence?
  13. ryco z68 or valvoline VO11 (i think) does well for me.
  14. ae71neo, i did EXACTLY the same thing as you six months ago... thought the f@$ker in front of me was speeding up but was infact slowing down. i f@$ked the bonnet, lhf guard and headlight. the car was still driveable. i drove it like that for about 2 months, past cops, except for this one time i was travelling down robinson rd in the middle of winter in thick fog coming home at 6am from work and the cops pass me, look me dead in the eye, and i see in my rear vision mirror their brake lights go on and the blinker to chuck a u turn, so i booted the f@$kin thing. i lost em in the fog. suckers! i was happy about that. so the next week i bought a headlight off fook -- props to fook -- and put it in. the car is straight now, just looks a little undercoat-like in a few areas. it's getting painted in a few weeks, and i'm gonna do a poll on here as to what colour to paint it - i'm thinking two tone with racing stripes.
  15. also check your fuse my 5speed ke55's reverse lights were out so i changed the fuse and the worked. its the same fuse as your rear demister so if you get the little orange light in the middle of your demsiter switch then your fuse is a-o-k
  16. yeah my stock 4K ke55 5spd is doing a few revs at 100kmh... prolly 3 i'd say
  17. and the link to it in your sig still don't work
  18. like we say in the taxi industry most problems get fixed with left foot braking, palm steering, wound down windows and triple m
  19. c**ts damn this thing does its own moderating
  20. we get 420,000 out of an auto in the cabs blocks are good for 1,100,000 klms we only do about 600-700 thou k's before we retire the cabs tho they then go for about another 4-6 years as a private car on average
  21. it makes my k motor blow less smoke and ping less up hills and btw nice linking to the faq
  22. just make sure your air filter aint full of oil, make sure the engine has plenty of good oil and take it for a nice 100kmh highway run with good fuel and flashlube for like 30ks or so and i reckon i'll go away
  23. so can anyone confirm/deny the XA-XF myth
  24. yep, i for it sorted alright. Thanks for your help and ideas Ps how do you change your little caption and pic over on the left hand side?
  25. The corolla is fixed! Yay! I purchased a new fuel pipe for $10 from All Auto Recyclers in Brendale (south pine rd???) I scabbed it off a gold KE70 wagoon. 4K-C was perfectly intact. Was.
