  1. Cold A/C baby. I can't thank you enough Chris, not only are you a wealth of knowledge about all things automotive, you're a hell of a nice guy too. Ill be fitting a thermofan soon and further boosting the efficiency of the system as you recommended. Its currently achieving 10 degrees C.
  2. Awesome :rocknroll: :pirate:
  3. Yes went to Hardy Spicer at Darra. All good, I know about driveline services. Thanks Matt. I'm psyched.
  4. Yes I too agree the anti drain valve is great, quite frankly, my 22re engine would not last without it, they rattle badly without the genuine or ryco filter with the anti drain valve. I also like to pour oil into the filter before installing it. Just so you have to pump less oil around before you get oil pressure.
  5. Mate I would love a manual conversion some day, and a lexus type 2 tosen lsd would be great too. As far as random pieces theres nothing missing. Its almost unheard of.
  6. Just got quoted under $200 to shorten the tailshaft for it.
  7. Ive got an ancient 8r you can rebuild. Its a rare bird.
  8. Crown wheels and pinions are matched sets. Its unlikely to work, also, the ratios are probably mix match, did you check, I see no mention of ratio. Get a matching set and see how you go. Plus by forcing it youve more than likely ruined the gears so find a new set. Operative word being set.
  9. To do list: 1. Bonnet Pins. $30 2. Airbox and Bonnet Fab $500 3. Tail shaft. $450 4. ECU. $1000 5 Finish wiring. 6. Carpet and Deadening $250 7. 1/4 window clips - Door Lock Parts - Hatch trim Board $? 8. Fix Headers and Fit Wideband $? 9. Diff Bush Mods $? 10. Motor out - sump mods - Secure fuel lines and tap tunnel - Fit reverse switch. $40 11. Mod Plates RWC and Rego - $800 So thats it. I need 3-4 grand and another couple of months to finish it off nice. :clover: :wootjump: That's really about it. Then its a car I can drive.
  10. Purchased the new receiver drier for the car today. Working towards ac.
  11. I gave it a wash down and a rub all over with 1000 grit wet and dry to knock back the dull surface, remove a lot of blemishes and cut off the over spray. For the most part the body is good. Its had a closed door respray at some point, I found some bog under the paint where some numpty removed the rubber body strips with extreme duress. I bladed off the remaining decals and actually got it looking ok. I cut back a lot of the primer Id sprayed where I was working on it and a bunch of black and silver overspray. The roof needs all the clear buffed off, its sort of yellowed and flaking away.
  12. Buy from an australian seller on ebay. Better chance of the correct bits. If you can get trade at repco all 4 should cost 320 ish.
  13. Hey great info thanks. Showed more love today. I finally swapped over the top rad hose, as I had a new one for ages but didn't want to remove it till I was doing other stuff that would be easier with it out of the way, such as, refitting the ac compressor and belt ready for a test gassing. I also removed the temp senders out of curiosity and found them in very decent order. Not much scale at all. While I was there I fitted a new oil filter and then I had put it all back together I bled the cooling system, topped up the oil and cleaned her. Jobs a good un.
  14. Did a few more things to this today. I secure the wiring along the left door scuff and over to the handbrake. I Modified the glove box to take all the relays, fuses and the ecu when i buy it. I routed and secured all the cables. I also made a mount for the ecudatascan and fitted that in front of the ashtray. I was pretty cluey with it, I spun around and trimmed the ashtray runner and put a fold in it, it bolts in like factory in place of the original. I then pained it black and double sided taped it to the ecudatascan bracket. I then routed the cable into the glove box with the ecu. I'm pretty proud of my system I created to hold the extra wiring. I folded up a trick little sheet metal clip from some leftover material and used it to hang the excess on the back face of the box, out of the way but still right where you need it. I was really annoyed at how hard it was to access the ecu, fuses and relays in my old car so I'm stoked with this. Nothing visible but all right there to be accessed.
  15. Its not too hard to do on the ground. Just do it right the one time bud. :clover:
  16. Id rather put it on a carb if I cam it I think, and leave the ecu for timing. Id like to put the wideband on the car with the ma stuff if I was to try that. Or drive a car set-up like that. I can't see it being ideal at all rpm. What capacity is there to fine tune it? From what I've read the head has many limitations so there are distinct limits to how far Ill go with bothering to work this motor I think. Its money better spent modifying the ae86. However I would like a torsen lsd next I think when I can make some money to spend on this thing.
  17. Its just the first thing you want to do to get rid of the ugly egr delete plates and the heavy cast manifold. The headers weight about half as much. Plus if I end up doing a cam Ill appreciate them more.
  18. Pure Potential. :)
  19. Went and saw my mate at the sheet metal fab shop today. I got quoted sweet f all to make the bonnet cap and the air box so that will be happening sooner than expected. Also have Dave Lawson looking for some door lock parts to help me finish it off.
  20. Today I showed her some love. I finally had the headers fitted. At the same time I had them fit a bung for the wideband so I can fit that to it and find the optimum setting on the afm spring. Also will help with tuning the car if I cam it up. I have had a fair few hours driving on the car today and I must say I am fairly happy with the headers for a 250 dollar investment. I feel it pulls smoother, has a lot more response on the highway and makes no more noise than before, it just seems to run cleaner, and it actually idles smoother for some reason and at 50rpm lower. Hopefully I save some fuel especially on those long trips. I also got sick of looking at the rusty wiper arms so I bought some new ones. Just Tridon ones. Next on the list is to fit the ac compressor and connect the thing back up so I can shoot over to Chris' place to see if it holds the gas this time. Need more cold.
