  1. So much going on! Did the pistons pull through ok with the ring binding?
  2. The minute you drive it to the drags three people will want to buy it.
  3. OMG this will be insane to drive!
  4. So the blactop has a 212mm flywheel, I assume the ae95 has a 200mm flywheel. If the 212mm unit fits inside the transfer case and the starter meshes then use it. Otherwise you might need a 4age 16 v flywheel to get 8 bolt crank and the correct 200mm diameter, if indeed diameter is your issue. You could explain your specific problem much better. Be specifica about why its wrong is it just 6/8 bolts or diameter as well?
  5. Scott features heavily in this weeks episode of the skid factory.
  6. Yeah they look like ke70 brakes at a glance. Measure them up and see. I have corrections to what I stated above about xa6x brakes. I did some snooping in the catalogue regarding the stock stuff on a ka67. 5k is a nice stock engine. You have an odd setup from the factory on that car, its a solid rotor not vented like I said above, its a more basic brake package so you aren't missing out by having ke70 brakes to any great extent. Nothing we have here in AUS matches up to it, all the cars that feature the same brakes and hub are Japan or Euro delivered vehicles. Even the bearing is the same as the corolla ke70 or sprinter platform.
  7. Have a look on the strut for a part number it should be ten digits and if you can find it I can probably look up the part.
  8. If the struts are ke70 Id be bummed, they have the incorrect kpi and they also have a smaller brake. Using the DBA catalogue you should be able to identify the struts by the rotor thats on the hub. KE70 and xA6X have vastly different brakes. Vented and larger diameter on the A chassis as compared to solid and smaller diameter on the ke70. Not to mention the bigger wheel bearing in the celica/carina hub and the different sized master cylinder needed to suit the ke brakes properly.
  9. This thread is exactly on point with what corollas are all about to me, a blank canvas to realise your vision. Well done,. you made an awesome little mini 4 runner!
  10. Hello, As an Adaptronic e420D ecu user, I'm a little dismayed that the forum has been taken down from the Adaptronic site. It seems to reflect that they are no longer selling the 420 series or 440 series, only the modular ecus from now on. Thats all well and good, but what about the people who have an e420D or similar ecu, and dont have a proper ecu manual. I understand what I need to pretty well after having the e420c before the e420d and understanding the control system pretty well from the old manual, but to me, its a bit disappointing that there is no accurate or updated manual for the e420D, they added dozens of features to the ecu over the years and didn't add any documentation. In many instances you would have to visit the forum and ask for the wisdom of other users, and its a bit frustration that the forum is now taken down altogether, as there were a lot of good topics in the forum that helped me fill in the blanks on various setup issues over the years.
  11. There should be one shock that fits from ra40 to ra65, and the carinas should be part of this platform too.
  12. Man buys shocks. Man gets told precisely how to change shocks. Man decides the work to change shocks the simplest and only way is 'fluffing' around. Man needs instant gratification. Man wants a quicker way that the actual simplest way to complete the task. Man needs to follow instructions. Man needs to realise it takes about 4 extra minutes of work from the state of things in the above photo to complete the job. Man should enjoy the benefit of new shocks sometime in the next ten to twelve minutes if he can find a big pipe wrench and the will to do it.
  13. Thanks, now that I think back, I switched to a different Idle controller at some point, just in case the first one had an intermittent fault, and I must have replicated the exact same problem when I screwed the nipples in to the new controller too! Crazy! It seemed good for a short while then it freaked out again.
  14. Hey I think I spotted you on Smaford road a couple days back! Looks sweet!
  15. You guys are the masters of hibernating and coming out in the spring with a new car to drive. Well done.
  16. For as long as the car has been running I have been dealing with intermittent freak outs from the idle controller. Its a ford falcon AU type with a couple half inch nipples tapped into the ports. I have finally gotten to the bottom of it. After playing with the electronic side of the system extensively and deciding I could have it perfect one day then it would hunt the next, I was at my wits end. I decided to pull the controller out and investigate. Glad I did. I think one of the nipples I had tapped and screwed in was ever so slightly rubbing the plunger inside the controller, which was making it stick open, or hang in certain positions. I always noticed it would be perfect on a warm sunny day but be terrible on a wet cold day. Turns out the temperature must have been enough to adjust the tolerance of the problem, as there was only the slightest mark on the plunger to indicate that there was rubbing once the fittings were unscrewed. I cleaned inside the controller, it was clean anyhow, but just to be safe, then gave it a small shot of inox to keep it moving smoothly, and then ground 1.5mm of brass off the threads on the nipples and screwed it back together. Viola! Perfect, stable, idle with a controller that seems to do its job properly. Turns out all my setup is great as it works perfect now its not restricted! It was always worse when cold and once the idle controller itself absorbed some heat it would work ok. So of course I celebrated by driving along Clear Mountain road for a test drive, I love that place, close to Brisbane and can see all the way to the glasshouse mountains. Its my ultimate address.
  17. You need a manual transmission that comes behind a Y engine. You need the starter with it, and the clutch and flywheel. You will need a wide pilot bearing. You need the az flywheel to machine down to accept the ring gear that comes on the Y engine flywheel and that lets you use its starter. Then you just have to space it slightly to make it work correctly. The inlet manifold will have to be fabricated from scratch, as the throttle body will hit the firewall, and you cant modify it as it is high temp plastic. The T engine shares the bellhousing pattern with the G engine so if you can find a 1gge or similar you could put a 6 cylinder in if you can find one. What engine are the W50s coming behind in your market? Might be another eclectic match for something else.
  18. Yesterday I decided to mount the throttles in the upstream position a further 80mm from the head. I had to resync and setup the whole thing anyhow after wrenching it out of adjustement at the drags. I set it up, and painted the cable mount. Synced it all very methodically. I'm getting a better sync result as the throttles bed in. I fitted a pulse dampener in the map sensor line from a 4afe car at the wreckers. Signal seems to be a bit smoother with some mechanical filtering. Logged a long drive on the upstream setup and then checked the results. it seemed a little dead on first touch but built strongly after that and was excellent from about 2500 and up. I examined the logs and found the afrs went 1.5 points lean on the 6 percent maps. All the way to mid 15 afrs. It demanded a lot more fuel up to about 20 percent tps. I reckon the air is charging in harder and filling the cylinders better. I might need more transient enrichment also. Im about to go drive and see how its different now.
  19. Yeah I've been a few times now and I have about 20 runs under my belt in various e chassis. On the .0 reaction run I launched when the second last white light went out. I have a staging method that give you margin for error on an early jump. I think it helped me there. Its always more fun when you have another ae86 to race. I really want to race a beams powered corolla.
  20. I like to be the first one there to race or you only get about 1 run per hour after 6pm when all the dicks in oversize american rubbish arrive. I shot it all on the gopro.
  21. Had a fun time at Willowbank. First run was fastest, at 14.211. All three runs were faster than the car was before at its best. I feel like there is more in it, but after I got three quick runs in, there were about 300 people show up to race, and I twisted out the adjustment on the throttles by smashing the throttle stop so hard. I need to make a physical stop for the pedal so I cannot do this in future. It just fucks up your idle and you have to adjust in between runs. Even had to pull up at Yamanto on the way home and adjust it up as it was revving at 4000rpm at the lights. Got it reasonable and limped home. I beat one car, a GTS 6.2 litre Holden Commonwhore. Not too exciting, he was in limp mode, haha. Air temps were still quite warm, humidity was low, and the breeze was going in the right direction to give some assistance. Ill be resyncing the itbs today. I would have liked more runs, but I need a day when almost nobody shows up. I feel like it could go a tenth or two better. First run reaction was poor abut left the line ok, but didnt shift as well as I could have mid track. Second run I bogged slightly at the launch despite a miniscule reaction, so the 60 foot time was too slow and set me up for a loss, but I shifted well down the track and made up some time, third run I thought I nailed it, reacted well, but bounced the limiter in second and didnt get into thrid smoothly enough because of it. The car now goes into fourth far enough before the line to increase MPH a little at the trap compared to before, where hitting the limiter would get you there in the past.
  22. Off to willowbank tonight I think.
  23. Car looks sick mate! A lot of us Gen Z people who had an analogue childhood and a digital adulthood are still hanging on and enjoying the medium of the forum. Instant gratification is not as important as quality of information or interaction, but you cant teach a kid that. What we now know about Facebook is, its an information vacuum, the only person able to find and reference that useful piece of info in a years time will be whoever pays Cuckerberg. Everyone else is just building their data set by participating in the BS.
