Who Would Be Interested In Ke1x T Shirts
philbey replied to Matt-e30's topic in Automotive Discussion
i'm interested. was going to do one years ago. I did a tough shirt once with a datto 1600 on it once too. If I get around to it, perhaps I'll do a design as well... I do mine fairly simply - usually chop up a photo to get the look about right, then I use Corel to manually trace and get a line image. -
haha, i wish my girlfriend thought that way... Cam, if you want to polish your rocker cover, get a tube of Autosol Metal Polish at near any hardware store. Gold and black toothpaste like packaging. Its pricey but lasts ages and does a killer job. Just requires some elbow grease. Also, I have used this stuff with great results on Taillights!

i have a feeling you mean the rocker cover anyway? Not the actual head. You can get head gaskets off ebay for 6 bucks every now and then.

Ouch. given that those race boats only have half a prop and a keel in the water at full pace, I can understand how they flip when the prop stops...

Hey all in Adelaide, Want to get some engine work done. Bores done on my 5k and some mild fiddling on the head. I just want to know who's used who for any k engine work, how they were helpful etc, and reasonable on price? Preferably on the south side. Work in Parkside, Live in Sheidow park. Let me know. tp.

Kangaroosa's link is where you should start your heavy reading. Cut to the chase, ring this phone number: 8348-9599 and they will tell you straight up what they want. They will give you 3 options: 1. Register the car with the new engine no. This is highly unlikely for the conversion you want to do. 2. Regency Park inspection and issuing of an SOR. This requires a $200 inspection where you will henceforth be issued with a list of things you need to fix before the conversion is done. This is basically a roadworthy inspection this is for the case where you have very little modification required on the car (ie same engine mounts, crossmembers etc). Could be the option for a 4AGE in perhaps a KE70 or later corolla. Unlikely for an earlier model 3. They will require it to be Engineered by a qualified Chartered Professional Engineer. Start saving, CPE's are not common and will probably charge 75 bucks an hour. The more chopping and changing you do, the more hours. They will require significant upgrades to the brakes etc, and probably meet ADR Emissions etc. Ring them and see what they want. This needs a writeup for the wiki I reckon. Tomorrow night....

Yeh, the last set I saw on Ebay went for about 400 I reckon. Neat looking condition though.

here we go again opening up the can of hearsay worms and "my mate reckons its proper legal because......." Read this article starting at page four. Because no will read it, the story goes: Some changes are allowed (aloud haha) within reason. There is a number to call to find out. I called them already, it is legal to run a 5k in a 1975 ke30, just ring up and change the engine number FYI, a disc brake front ke10 is not legal with a 5k, BUT doesnt need an engineers report. It is possible to take the car for a 200 buck Regency inspection, they will issue a list of requirements (SOR) of what they need fixed, and you can then do the swap and fix the list of items and you then have it legal. Obviously an engineers report is for more serious changes. And yes, this is for SA.

No idea where pete gets them from, but I think talking to him in the past he knows an importer or something. Last time I got a price from him, It was about 600 or similar, which I thought I could improve on. kangaroosa might know more though. Theres two Toyota import joints to try: one on Chesterville road, Moorabbin, and theres one on Edelmaier street Bayswater (Generally expensive) As for mine - I got it off here. There have been some good deals on them come up in the last few months, so watch those sale threads and you will need to be quick.

cool. Any more tips on location - Along the north or the east fence? After all, there's a lot of white and aqua ke30 corollas there haha.

How Do I Remove Ke10 Steering Wheel Lol
philbey replied to ke10rolla's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
shoule be a couple of well hidden screws in from the back of the wheel. I'll check mine tonight. That usually works Raven, but I've had a couple that just wont budge, so you need some extra coercion! -
Do you mind if I ask what the blasting cost? I’m guessing anywhere from $600-1000. Cheers.
-
i picked up one disassembled for 100 bucks. Given some of the crazy prices seen here, that might be considered expensive: But at least I know what knick the internals are in and I can rebuild as I see fit. This is a fantastic thread by the way, given that I'm deliberating over where to spend my money on the aforementioned rebuild!

I slapped up a couple of brackets and hung it from the dash under the glove box. KE10s have a steel dash, so its pretty easy. I didnt want to hack it up , and I will probably stick an original one in for looks haha!

14. NOTE - following a road test further alterations to the braking system may be required just out of interest, do you have metal compound pads on the car? If so, you might want to swap them out for the road test: when I got my bluebird engineered in Victoria, they did a number of hard stop tests with an accelerometer. They have to do it cold, so there is variation between the readouts etc. you could check with them first.

my dellortos have sequential numbers like xxx07 and xxx08. I just assumed thats how it worked.
-
last set I saw on evilbay went for 400 plus. Seems like the nostalgia of them pulls big dollars. given that I got a ready to get set of dellortoes for 300.......
-
mind if I ask what you paid? I was looking for a set but ended up with twin dellortos instead. I have a bunch of info that I dragged up from my searching at home, will post up later. It has info on needle sizing/shapes etc and how to tune and balance them. also, its probably likely you will get poxy performance and use heaps of fuel in the mean time on a stock 3k. but they will sound cool!

How Do I Remove Ke10 Steering Wheel Lol
philbey replied to ke10rolla's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
hey guys, is it removing the horn panel to get to the nut thats the problem, or is it pulling it off the tapered shaft? If its getting it off the shaft, a neat trick is get a hammer and a heavy lump of soft metal like brass. put the nut partially onto the thread, so that the ends of the thread aren't exposed (so the shaft end is flush with top of the nut) with a knee eitherside of the steering column, brace them hard against the back of the wheel. With the brass against the steering nut, belt the brass as hard as you can. a couple of hits should loosen the wheel The brass is to stop you trashing the nut or the shaft. should feel a pop and it will come off now. cheers, tom. -
DING DING DING! or they could just fiddle the gearstick and count...... wait a minute..... u pull it staff count to 5.... Too easy. looks like I better get up early to beat all you others to those boxes..... lucky I live 4 minutes away!!!!!!!

i've been getting these emails for 10 years.... There's also the one about "Bill will give you moneyfor every hotmail user you forward this email too" I've also seen a few of the nigerian bank scam ones: They need to store their surplus money in your account for a while, so you pay 10 grand in processing fees and they drop a casual million in there for a few months I always thought that theres no way anyone would be that stupid - until I saw the 60 minute article on the scamss. Turns out theres hundreds of cases of Aussies going totally broke because they got greedy. suckers - you want to get rich, you work for it.
-
True low taxes and removal of tarriffs have made it harder. But look what we get; a better selection of better cars. The Aussie car makers have relied on a sentimental market for years, and it bit them in the arse. Just like Geelong, there will be a ruckus about the government not fixing it or helping them out, but its bullshit - they have done plenty to help and tried forking out money to no avail. At the end of the day, its no use paying to patch up a sinking ship. And while it does suck for the now unemployed workers, keep in mind that we are in the middle of record low unemployment in this country, and they are probably all getting a solid 6 months of pay to walk out with...

nice sized surge tank - looks suspiciously like a coke tin painted flat black! haha.
