  1. damn you people, more notice! I'm all booked up already. Otherwise, I could have called 911 and gone for a good flex......!
  2. correct, the LC-1 wideband controller is the one most of the megasquirt dudes use. The LM gives me a datalogger as well. I could just use a pen and pad and a passenger i suppose..... The Techedge stuff I was considering before I found the innovate stuff. Now the exchange rate is better, I think I'll stick with the innovate as well.
  3. haha yeh. They must be in bed early or something. The FAQ has a good guide to putting ke20 discs in, and a brief item on how to use replacement ke20 inserts as ke10 ones are difficult to find new. There is further info in a deeply stashed thread CLICK on how to convert to ke20 strut tops and springs and subsequently lower the car properly, which is difficult to do with the original suspension. In short, no, they are not a bolt in swap, but it can be done with some mix and match.
  4. don't go cutting it up, you should be able to get in there with a dremel to clean it up and stick a mig in there to whack a couple of welds on. IT might only last 12 months, but at least its cheap and easy. By the way, have a fire extinguisher on hand too in case you light her up!
  5. cool cool. I was wondering what to do about the RPM. Seems like 80 USD is a bit steep for that added benefit. Plus, I was looking at the Innovate website, they have a bit of a guide on tuning using the readout and a passenger with a quick eye and a quicker pen haha. US economy will probably be stuffed in a month or so when I buy, so I should get it cheap then!
  6. Hi all, I've been considering buying one of these for a while: Innovate Motorsports LM-1 Plan is to wack an O2 bung in my exhaust(S), plug it in and take her for a run, dump a map of AF vs RPM, see what I get and tune accordingly. At the moment, the plan is to use it for Dellortos, and a K-Jetronic FI System. I'm keen to do it for the sake of learning and perhaps saving money on tuneups etc! Plus, If I get any good, I can tune other cars as well! Just wondering if anyone else has had tried their hand at this and what sort of fun they had? HAve they tried different units, what sort of setups have they tuned etc. Lend me your knowledge!! Cheers, Philbey.
  7. I'm thinkin about getting a set made for the wagon. If it works well, I'll see who else wants them. Not sure how it would look with the lip around the wheelarch. I'll make up a cardboard mockup first and see how it goes. Need a louvered bonnet and a visor too.
  8. Yeh, Polycarb is what I was thinking too. Lay the front screen down to get some extra rake, ditch the corner windows on the doors and fit poly side and rear glass. Even better, go rod style and go sans door windows! I figure you could shape it easy enough with a heat gun and drape it over the existing glass. As for seats, just get a set of stockies that have sagged! I'm 6"3 and they do me fine! Front grille - Desoto teeth of course, like this sucker:
  9. I like the choptop ten, except for the paint.
  10. <<<<<<<<<<<a wagon like this one you mean haha. just need to get me some white wall pie crusts like that one.
  11. Very true. I've thought through that before, and it would be an absolute feat. Most sleds can get away with it because they have flat front glass and they lay the rear screen down to avoid cutting it. Would be cool though. Even 2 inches would do it....
  12. hey folks, been looking at too many pictures of 49 chev and mercury sleds, and I got momentarily inspired. So I knocked up a crude trace of a bagged 10 with spats. Something different hahaha. Wouldnt mind building one like it one day. Opinions anyone?
  13. haha I recognise this beast. My mate looked at buying it for his Girlfriend back when I got my wagon from Pete. Good to see it went to a keen Rolla operator. Next time you see Pete say hi to him for me (Tom Philbey) cheers.
  14. is it a turbo CA18? if so, good luck with that one! haha.
  15. I doubt it. Likely a lot harder than it sounds. Will need to fab all new mounts, new tailshaft length etc. You'll also have to fiddle with the brakes and you'll have different stud patterns so have fun with wheels mismatching. Plus, geminis are the biggest pieces of shit out, and the diffs are probably worse than any corolla diff hahah!
  16. I'm with the green.
  17. Have a read up on 910bluebird.com about those R31 borg warners, those boys know a bit about them. Never heard of anyone crossbreeding an r180 or r200 into a solid diff. Interesting idea. Something I have been thinking of lately is getting a custom Torsen LSD centre for a commonly available corolla rear. There's a company in melbourne called Modena Engineering and a mate of mine was getting them to build torsen centres for R180's. Absolutely unbreakable diff. It might be worth giving them a yell and asking them what diffs they can make their centres for or how much it would cost for a custom etc.
  18. Thats really tidy. I had a KE18 Panel van once as well, but the thing was so full of cancer it went to the cube factory.
  19. I'll give it a crack. I have a habit of embarking on things like this. I have a half designed SU Manifold and some ke10 Strut tops in Solidworks that I'm still working on too! haha. this weekend, i'll see what I can come up with.
  20. Everwhere I looked when researching twin carb setups, I found just as many people canning setups as those who praise them. This goes for SU's, Dellorto's, Solex's and admittedly to a lesser extent, Webers. I'd suggest you rebuild them (as you've done), read up heaps about them, learn to setup, tune and balance them yourself and if they still give issues, pay someone to do it. Pending that, if you don't like them sell them to me for 177 bucks! Not doubting your input Rollaboy, but I found overall that peoples experience with these matters varied so broadly that the only thing to do was buy em and try em!
  21. Yes you can paint it, and no you wont lose your timing. You'll need to loosen the fan belt to take it off. This is done by loosening the bolt on the top of the alternator. When you put it back together, you need to make sure you get the belt nice and tight by levering the alternator out with a long bar while you tighten the bolt up again.
  22. mate one tube should be enough to do the head and the chrome. It goes a long way.
  23. Sweet mother of god, that is a ridiculous price. I haven't been looking for them on Ebay lately, and if I had been you wouldn't have got them at all, after I lost the bidding war on Kangaroosa's a while back! Here are a couple of pages for you, mainly on the operation etc: Some Tuning etc Operation Principles with good diagrams I do know of other sites, some were quite hard to find. I have the link on one of the many computers I use....
  24. If you can get a 32/36 in reasonable condition free, slap that on for the meantime and play the waiting game for a good set of twins. While searching for 6 months for a twin SU manifold to pop up, I ended up with a set of twin DHLA Dellortos for 300 bucks with manifold, jetted and ready to go on a K series! (Off rollaclub before you ask - got in early!)
  25. Haha - handballed! Hate to be a pain Felix, but would you mind having a quick look to see whether they are lows or superlows? I've got the ke20 strut tops waiting to drop in, and I just need to work out which Kings springs I want to put in there.
