Cool, I was going to make one myself as well. Its basic principles really. But, a mate at work has a Carbmate. Incidentally, it wouldnt be too hard to make your own with a 5 Volt pressure transducer or two and a multimeter.

mmmmm, taste the secret!

Gas and Steam turbines as well all use proper "inter"cooling.

Aberfoyle, yeh I reckon I used to see it around a bit. Just has a familiar look to it. Interesting about the Weber not running, did you ever pull it down and check choke sizes, jets etc and make sure you're in the ball park with them? Because if your motor isnt jetted and setup correctly to begin, your pushing the proverbial uphill. If it was running in a KE30 though, could have simply been the easier breathing I suppose. Cut a hole in your strut tower haha. And as for the hatemail, they can bite it. Your car man, do what you want!

Felix, thanks for the heads up, I didn't realise the 3k is shorter. I measured up my dellortos on a 3k, so I will get more space on the 5k. I'm fairly certain my headers won't fit easily but I reckon I Can modify the pipe after the collector to get them in at least. Cam, I will head down to the wreckers and get a mount. Glad I read this post, I thought "pfft, how hard is a 5k into a ke10, why bother reading that" hahaha Also, benzo, I'm not sure, but the last time I put a 5k into a KE10, it had 2 cast brackets that bolt on the bottom of the motor to the bellhousing that the 3k didnt have. We had to leave one of these brackets off because either the idler arm or the pitman arm on the steering clashed with it. The car has been running for years without the bracket, so I'm guessing its all good. You'll see what I mean when you do the conversion.

I did the exact same thing when I rebuilt the head on a CA18. Left one of the intercooler hoses loose and after a 15 minute idle to warm it up, I gassed it down the street and popped the hose off. ..... Freaked me out, but it was piss funny once I worked it out!

Servo's usually sell them.

Ramflo Filters - Anyone Recommend, Or Advise Against?
philbey replied to philbey's topic in General Mechanical
I've seen a few that get all crumbly and stuff on the inside, right above the throats, and I reckon thats usually to do with carby backfires. Given that most of them I've seen are bolted to falcon webers on <2 Litre engines, its no real surprise. I'll see what I can score a set for, personally I'd rather the unifilter setup above but thats 160 bucks I'll spend later down the track. -
Hey man I don't want to get pedantic, but is the General Mechanical section really the spot for this thread haha :(

Ramflo Filters - Anyone Recommend, Or Advise Against?
philbey replied to philbey's topic in General Mechanical
Same thing - uniflow make unifilters. Really good range as well, check out www.uniflow.com.au Yep, that was the plan. Finer are made by Uniflow as well. Shane, not a bad idea. Cost wise though I reckon I'd be lucky to get kitted out with K&N stuff for less than 200 bucks. And I don't think I'll fit it. I also want Frontal filter area, not perimeter area, so I can run short stacks inside the filter without choking. Personally, I reckon the Ramflo's look shit hot on an old school engine as well, especially round ones on SUs. -
What Handbrake Cover Do You Have In Your 55 Or 30
philbey replied to 4DRFRK's topic in Automotive Discussion
Paid. Take it offline boys. Does anyone have pictures of underneath these consoles and covers? I just want to know how/what youve done to get them to screw down in cars that didn't have them stock etc. -
Ramflo Filters - Anyone Recommend, Or Advise Against?
philbey replied to philbey's topic in General Mechanical
These are the Uniflow fliter setups. 160 bucks off their site, 50mm tall. I'm going to call them to see if they will do a 40mm one, which will fit nicely, and probably be a similar cost to the Ramflo setup. -
Ramflo Filters - Anyone Recommend, Or Advise Against?
philbey replied to philbey's topic in General Mechanical
Yeh for sure. I took pics cos I knew people would want to see them! What sort of twins have you got - Webers or dellortos, and what manifold? These are 40mm DHLAs with a Redline manifold. In one Pic, you can see a 50mm block between the carbs and the strut tower. The closest point is at number 3 throat. You could belt the strut tower in of course, but thats dodgy! -
Hey guys, I noticed a post a few days back where someone advised against Ramflo air filters. I figured that the element itself is the problem? Anyway after measuring up my engine bay, I reckon Ramflos with the offset will be the easiest fit for my twin DHLAs, but I wanted to see what people think? If the elements in them are crap, I figured I will just by the Unifilter replacement items to go in there? Cheers tom.

Mate, got a pic of your gasket and where it failed? I just pulled mine out, I'll post up. Water in 2 3 and 4. Funny as were doing them at the same time. I'm just going slap my 6 buck ebay special in and chemeweld it until my 5k is finished!

Wont even need to bother marking your timing, just undo the head bolts and pull it off. The joy of pushrods....
-
yeh thats what I'm hoping. Think I'll just do the horrible thing and drop a manual in too, I was nuts to think it would be any good with a 2 speed auto.... Then I can lump it up a bit more as well on the camshaft side of things!@!

supper glue, sounds delicious. I'll be doing mine tomorrow, i'll see if I Can top 27 minutes!

What Handbrake Cover Do You Have In Your 55 Or 30
philbey replied to 4DRFRK's topic in Automotive Discussion
theres been an increase in flareups like this lately. Keeps me entertained. I don't have a handbrake cover, I dig that bare chrome handle the KE1xs all have. -
For those post diggers - I added this into the Wiki, with some more details and explanations. READ MORE HERE

No kidding - that would be convenient with the hole I cut in my carpet...! Cam, any idea how much space I'll gain on the left side and what other mounts (30, 50,70 etc) would have this effect, because I'm aiming to maximise space for my DHLAs.

Is that the best you've got? :) Still not quite sure what this is all about. Could be some NE Coast sport phenomenon? Getting better with the payouts, but yes, thanks for your concern towe001, I'm now able to play like Sniff and Stiff (I hate that ad)

Yeh I know thats my biggest worry. I wanted to run 16mm trumpets (better than nothing), but I reckon I'm going to be out of luck. Once I measure it up, I will model some stuff up in CAD and use a CFD program to design the airbox flow. The dellorto guys recommend about 36mm+ between trumpets and other stuff, but there may be ways around it. I'll see what I can come up with. I was even considering a "half airbox" with a panel filter top/LHS etc. After looking at what's out there the other day, I've got heaps of options for filtering/socks/pods etc.

I was having sex. With a girl. a REAL girl.... haha.

Nah - Scratch from the Roots CLOSED sure he uses a sampler to loop the bass line he JUST CREATED then "scratches" over it. But he's nuts.
