a properly jetted downdraft weber (bolt on) is renowned for extra herbs, as well as economy. (Edit - and there's about 200 recent posts discussing them>!) Extractors - heaps come up on Ebay, ~100 bucks, plus time to fit them and ~50 to get them welded to the exhaust.

Do you have access to an angle grinder, a steel streetsign and a Mig welder? with these items you should be able to do it yourself. I'd suggest getting a book on panel beating and have a read. I scored one, a Gregorys one, it's very good. But yeh - if a tradie doesnt want the job, he'll give you a high price. Fair enough too.

Yes it will make a difference to your brake bias, you might notice your rears lock easier. Might only be one millimetre, but its the area of the piston that's the issue.

30k will get you a 3 Litre 911SC in good nick. I paid 25.5 for mine, it's mechanically very good, but the paintwork is original and has a few touchups and blemishes. Low - Mid 20 will get you an earlier 2.7 Litre in even better nick, but the 3L SC is the better, more reliable car.

Torque wrench for flywheel bolts. If you can get new flywheel bolts as well that's always a nicety. Seriously, you need a torque wrench.... I didn't have one once...... ouch.....

Gav thats fantastic! What a right little rocket. I'm keen to get my new motor dyno'd when I build it and see how much I can make!!

Haha, I'll get some pics. It looks just like a 911 really haha. Except its filthy because its now my daily and the front spoiler is trashed from hitting things.

Nope couldn't find them. I will clean it and have a better look though.

Nailed it down the street this morning. That extra 200 revs makes such a huge difference! Just have to make sure I don't valve bounce her now....... haha.

Take a look at this recent thread: Click Not for a KE70 but the principles will apply. Trial and error is the best option for height/driveability. You can also reverse the eyelets of your top leaf. A Spring workshop should be able do that for you. TP.

Yeh it figures. don't think it was standard on the porsche, and I reckon they have a seperate rev limiter. Might get more redline out of it now.... I'll check. Crazy germans.

Hi guys, I have a mystery cam I bought of kangaroosa. Its had a grind, but no idea what it is. Before I run it I want to check the lift etc. If anyone has a stock cam and a stock set of rocker posts lying around, I was after the following measurements: Root diameter of both inlet and exhaust cam lobes Overall height (from face to face) of the rocker posts. Cheers tom.

Hey check this. serviced my 911 today, and when I pulled the rotor out I got a strange surprise. Check it out below. Funny offset rotor arm. In the centre, the yellow thing is spring loaded with an electrical contact on the end. Centripetal force drives it out until it makes contact with the tab on the outside. I think its a crude sort of rev limiter, because once it contacts it will earth through the driveshaft of the dizzy. The replacement item I bought was just your garden variety rotor, so If anyone knows any more about it, I'm all ears.....

Haha. Sure. :lolcry: Bingo. Or if we drop the excise, fine. But could you please pay more income tax? Perhaps an annual tax levy scaled depending on the number and type of cars you own? Thank you come again haha.

Grinding Down A Caliper To Fit A Wheel On
philbey replied to KE ping it real's topic in General Mechanical
Got any pics of what and where you ground it? -
Damn. I'm gonna get some better locks and wire up a couple more security measures.

Pull the leaf out (a bolt at each end then the bolts that hold the diff to the leaf) and it should become fairly self explanatory. The leaf pack is held together by a couple of steel "C" brackets around each end, thes hold the springs together but allow them to slide. There will also be a single bolt through the leaves in the middle of the pack. Undo the bolt and also pry open the "C" brackets. Take care when bending them, you want to bend them as little as possible and don't stuff up the rubber bush inside the brackets. The leaf pack will seperate once this stuff is all off. There's a number of ways to now lower the pack, and every one of these ways is dodgy as. Usually people just choose a smaller leaf, flip it and bolt it on top of the larger leaf. You'll need a couple of g clamps to gently compress the pack in order to get the bolt back through the centre. There you go. Dodgy as hell, and your guess is as good as mine about which leaf = how low you'll get it. Trial and error.

Any better description of the problem? Do you need to push really hard to get it to stop, is it "spongy", do the brakes firm up if you pump it, is the pedal stroke long etc? First up, if you think the Vacuum is an issue, go to a brake shop and get a check valve which should improve the vacuum in the booster (Turbos use them). Can you swap the KE30 drums onto the 20, or even adapt the 30 slave cylinders? As lindsay said, you should try to match the complete system. Otherwise, if you need lots of pedal pressure to get it to stop, it might help going to the larger size KE20 wheel cylinders. Oh, and make sure your rear drums are properly adjusted before you do anything else!

Hahaha, thats like saying it's hard to read in a dark room if you know where the lightswitch is. I've rung every carb and performance joint in adelaide, noone deals with the gear. I was hoping the old "pay more for convenience" adage would apply for getting my carby bits. But I do have to agree mikey, I scored a matched set of correctly jetted DHLAs on K manifold for much less than the money you mention here.... Jus looking for new bits and the right emulsion tubes seems to be the tough part.

If the price isn't too crazy, I'd suggest just buy them and try them. Dellorto stuff is hard as to find. I'd suggest emailing Gem Parts Australia from Ebay, and see what they have too.

Picked up a 5 Speed for it from Kangaroosa in melbourne. Also scored an unknown grind of cam from him, I might set it up with a dial gauge and protractor and work out the profile.... or, I might just put it in and see how happy I am with the lump hahaha.

Stainless capheads everywhere. Nice touch.

saw some ke30 with those centreline steelies the other day on Don Bradman Drive, just past the airport. Convoy for Kids was on, traffic was gridlocked. Also, anyone know the pale yellow 20 with big wheels that lives on brighton road? I saw it getting pushed down morphett road a while back.

I'm probably looking for a flaming for asking, but 10 pages is a lot: Paseo seats?

I just picked up a KE55 5 speed as well, so all this is good tasty info. Mine is an Auto KE1x though, anyone confirm the rumour that the KE55 shifter will line up with the hole for a Toyoglide 2 Speed? It's going to be mighty close thats for sure..... TP.
