  1. Hey Gav, I was wondering what you did with this rocket - I spoke to you on the phone about 2 years ago when you were talking about selling it. I guess you didn't in the end! Nice engine though, that'll be good fun! I pulled the base of my back seat out so the backrest sits down nice and low!
  2. Been disucussed a fair bit- seems that most people make a "k series" extractors, and they're not KE corolla specific - ie, they fit 10-70's. Floor pans, idler arms and starter motors are the culprits for clashing on the ke10's and 20's. From lots of digging and reading, the best solution I came up with was suck it and see - bolt them in and if something hits modify. Not likely to need lots of rework, perhaps a later model starter (smaller) a bit of bending or rejigging of the collector or similar. Tom
  3. reputable as in Autobarn?
  4. KE20's are a 4x110, I think (someone else may confirm) that the SAAB rims are 4x108, so they sort of fit. If this is the case, I wouldn't even think about jamming them onto your wheelstuds. Dodgy.

Hey about a month ago I chased a silver (?) ke70 down belair road? Mad low and hugely oversprung, thing must handle like a slut, but the dude was giving it a go. I was in a red 911. anyone from here>?
  6. I'll be there next year for sure.
  7. The argument about power gain from sidewall friction has been had. You won't get bugger all power for the muckaround you'll go through.
  8. Even to run sidey's it's a moot issue. I've measured up for my DHLA's and I'll be able to run a unifilter twin carb cage or a pair of ramflo's without any clash. Its sticking 2 inch trumpets on that will cause me grief....
  9. My 5k build is about the 2k mark, it's all there but still not together and that will probably not make 130hp. twin DHLAs, what now looks to be quite high comp, cam, extractors etc. should go alright though.
  10. I'm yet to see one!
  11. They rough the tyre surface so the paint bonds properly, the dude is just another 2-bit expert, tell him to bite it,
  12. what sort of work? engine conversions I'm thinking?
  13. could be hany for removing ATM's from their place of residence...
  14. Ok folks, I am still beating myself up over what to use for my ignition control. I'm still thinking the Jaycar Prog Ignition, but I've also started looking at the MSD gear because I have spare money.. I like the jaycar item because its cheap and I can get 2d curve control (MAP or TPS) as well as knock sensing. I've been looking at the MSD stuff, but I just can't seem to get that same functionality. Can anyone who has used MSD gear, whether on a rolla or something else perhaps post up details of their setup? Cheers Tom.
  15. I was deliberating about buying a tig too, but when I noticed all the rodders used mig - then I realised trying to jam myself upside down sideways in an awkward spot with a torch and a filler rod and no hand to hold onto stuff..... yep, get a mig. I have an article on welding aluminium with an oxy around the place too - interesting, been meaning to try it out...
  16. nope but planning to tune mine for it down the track. Was going to just buy bulk ethanol rather than distill it though haha.
  17. hahaha, lane hoppers, always a source of amusement.
  18. We had an absolute gun lecturer for materials, so it was interesting! Control engineering - now thats a sleepworthy lecture.
  19. cool. Even cooler cos its a wagon.
  20. make up some spats, and definitely give it a pinstripe job.
  21. Cam, what was the original oil pressure, that way we can work out the spring rate and then have a nice little chart in the wiki so people can set it for their own desired pressure! TP.
  22. Guys, E10 is all well and good, but there's a few things you need to consider to get benefits out of it: - AFR needs to be different, you need to run more fuel in the mix, you might be seeing less power because you're a tad lean - Ignition timing needs to be considered like beerhead said - Compression - Ethanol is increases your RON. If you build a motor for Ethanol, you'll be able to run higher compression ratio than straight petrol. Compression ratio = efficiency = more grunt! As for the water issue, cam is spot on, the ethanol attracts water, which is why it's no good to let it sit for a while. Rubbers these days should be fine, aim for Viton rubber and you will be fine. Cork gaskets in fuel pumps and carbies are also eaten by ethanol. I'm building my 5k at the moment, and over time, I'm going to start getting the gear to build it to run a proper E85 ethanol tune - ignition curve control, wideband 02 to tune with etc. Just need to source good cheap ethanol to blend my own!
  23. haha, man thats funny. It's a pet hate of mine thats all :sob: funniest one I ever saw was a dude put his hand up in materials science lecture and ask the lecturer why aluminium was non-ferrous.
  24. Call the cops - Admit you might have dropped a couple of circles. The serious issue is some nutcase who'll kill someone one day, not a bit of dirt that needs grading.
  25. can you get the Konigs and the Watanabes in 110pcd? I've been looking but it doesn't seem to be the case.
