Mmm...Micro-sleep perhaps?? Seriously, that is a damn fine effort by that man to not only run over himself with the tractor he was driving, but to also "park" a mower in a big f*** off water hazard. Can I ask, what was his excuse for both these incidents? I hope they were good :)

The epic journey of one man and his quest to find a decent corolla... Sounded and looked like a very interesting car ride home. I hope that it was worth it :)

Quads or no quads, with chrome bars and a Gilly lip any front will look awesome...except slanty fronts, they are ghey :P My vote is for the quads though. Even though the square front is good, quads just look that little bit better imo. -Alex

Hey mate, Looks like you did a good job with the conversion. Hope that you have a hell of a good time driving it once the accelerator cable is back :) I bet it will be fun :D -Alex

Haha, second that. Formatting ftl.

^^Agreed. Keep it that purple, looks freeking nice as. Just order some of those white venetians you were looking at and it'll be even better. Some white walls might looks pretty nice aswell. Hell, if you were even considering redo-ing the interior, do it white. Would be pimp'n :) -Alex

What grinds my gears: No muck up day. Well, today was our offical last day of school, EVER and we didnt get a muck-up day which sucked ass. Though however, yesterday and wednesday we did wage war on a couple of the other schools to vent anger. Involved a mob of 35+ people armed with eggs and other projectiles and basically let loose on anyone who was in throwing range. Some teacher and her class were in the wrong place at the wrong time, and, well, I hope they had a spare change of clothes somewhere close by as the copped the full force of a yr12 mob :) -Alex

Jesus, that is a top quality transformation! I can only hope that one day my enginebay will look like that :) Hope that you guys can get this thing back on the road soon  -Alex

Damn it, what a pain in the arse. I was hoping to see this in the flesh at Bathurst but seems that I'll have to wait a little longer :no2: Hope that you guys can sort it all out and get this bad-boy driving again. Good Luck with it :P -Alex

Thanks for all the info guys. AE86 inserts and T3 camber tops it is. Can get the inserts easy, but will need to find some camber tops on the cheap as $240+ brand new is a bit steep for me. Hopefully it should all work quite nicely, but, if worst comes to worst I can always sell it if it doesn't. If anyone has other information to add, go for it. Any info is good info  -Alex

Thanks for the replys. I read that the AE86 strut top bolt pattern is the same as an '83 KE70 and also the AE86 strut tube inner diameter is the same as the XT130 one. So, if I was to get AE86 camber tops and strut inserts, they SHOULD fit into the KE70 okay, right? Please correct me if I am wrong as I would like to be 100% sure on what to use before I buy anything. Thanks, -Alex

Hey guys, I am currently in the process of re-doing my front brake and suspension setup using XT130 struts with 2spot calipers and coilovers. :D Have all the parts I need for the conversion apart from new shock inserts for the XT130 struts as the ones that were in the struts when I got them are rooted. I thought that all was going to plan, however, just before I went to order the inserts today, I realised I had a problem. What strut tophat and insert do I use? I realised that the XT tophat has a slightly larger bolt pattern than the KE one so it won't fit the KE strut tower and because my car still has all the stock suspension gear in it, I am unable to see if the XT shock inserts will fit through the KE tophat. :( Just need to know if the XT130 inserts will work with the KE70 tophats and if not, what one to use? If anyone has used the XT130 struts in their KE70 like for the hilux/pug/corona upgrade or what not, could they please let me know what tophat and insert to use? Any help is muchly appreciated. Thanks in advance, -Alex

No worries mate. I'm sure that there will be one available to you that is in your area. If not, there should be a wreckers with one. Good luck with it all. -Alex

Hey mate, Where abouts do you live? I am in Wagga Wagga(NSW) and I Have a 4K carbie with ALL emmisions gear attatched to it if you need that. It was running on my 4K but was replaced by a 32/36 weber. All it needs is a good clean out with some carbie cleaner and it'll be as good as new. If you are interested in it, send me a PM. For a small price I think I could probably part with it. I'll even include the airfilter box and a filter :D -Alex

Hey, My crappy, old 4K with a 32/36 weber on it gets around 9-10km/L so yours does seem to be chewing alot of fuel for a stock carby. This might sound obvious, but did you check the fuel lines and tank for leaks? My sisters rolla was using alot of fuel at one stage and it turned out that there was a little crack in the fuel return line which was leaking fuel. Might be something as little as that. That's all I can suggest. I'm sure that someone on here with a lot more knowledge with these engines will be able to provide further technical reasons for what may cause excessive fuel comsumption. Good luck with it, hope you find the problem soon. -Alex

Yeah with a bit of luck I will get them soonish. He said he won't be doing any orderes till the start of next month so by then I should have some money...hopefully :D -Alex

Well, got some good news. Took the carbie apart today and gave it a thorough clean. Runs like a car should again which is good. Pretty sure that the carbie hadn't been cleaned in a long time, so something other than the jets which I had previously cleaned, was blocked which caused the problem. Had a bit of a scare though when I reassembled it again. I put the primary venturi in the wrong way, so when it got some throttle and went off the idle jet, the car just stalled :) :D Realised soon after what was causing it so I fixed it :hmm: Again, thankyou for all your help. It is good to have such great help for the problems I've had. :) Just a side note to save making a new thread. I was talking to a guy at a performance workshop about my car yesterday and we came to the topic of extractors. I asked if he could get some to suit K series engines. For $180.00 he said he could get me some brand new 4-1 Redline extractors which apparently, are made by Hurricane but sold as Redline. :hmm: Just was wondering if $180.00 is a good price for a brand new set of extractors, or is it a bad move to get redline ones? -Alex

Sorry, missed your reply. I will try that out tomorrow too, before anything else. Your right, it is worth a shot, anything is worth a shot because you'll never know if it is the problem unless you try it. Thanks -Alex

That was from a few minutes earlier when i disconnected the fuel hose from the carbie. A little bit spilt out onto the manifold and yeah, that is why it looks wetish still. There is fuel getting into the carbie how ever, this might sound like a dumb question, but should the fuel be squirted at a steady rate, or should it kinda spurt out, then stop, then spurt again? I ask this because when there is fuel being squirted out, it gain revs, and when it stops, they fall(obviously) but I thought if it was supposed to be a steady rate, then it would idle smooth perhaps. I ordered an overhaul kit for the carbie today, so when that turns up I will give the carbie a clean and rekit. Tomorrow I will get some new vacuum hoses as the ones that I am using atm are from the old carby, so they might have a crack/fault somewhere. As to test for a vacuum leak, does spraying some fuel froma spray bottle around gaskets seem like a good idea, or is it a bad idea with the heat of the manifold etc? That is what mine sounds like at the moment, however, the thing is that it was in tune for months. I didn't think that it would randomly go out of tune and then not go back in tune at all. After a rebuild of the carbie and new lines, a new tune will be in order though. Thanks for your help so far guys, appreciate the fast responses :P I'll see what happens with it tomorrow. -Alex

Hey guys, I am after some help with working out "wtf" is going wrong with my carbie. Have a 32/36 DGAV Weber on the 4K since the Aisan one shit itself. All was working fine with it over 2 months or so, but now something is wrong and I am unsure of what it is. The car will not rev at a steady level. If you try to hold the revs at a constant mark, the engine drops in revs then kinda splutters back up then drops again. The same goes for the idle. It barely idles, and when you adjust the mixture screw, it does hardley anything. The screw can be the whole way out and the engine still runs like it was halfway in. When you try to increase the idle speed, the engie just picks up then dies then picks up again, much the same as when you try to hold it at a constant rev. :P It is almost impossible to drive the car as everytime I clutch in, the car stalls, and also, any small acceleration and the car just starts bunny hopping foward even when the clutch is out :P I am stumped as to why it worked fine now all of a sudden it is running like crudler. All the manifold and adaptor plate studs are tight and the vacuum lines seem to be all free from blockages. The jet sizes that are in the carbie at the moment are 132 main and 165 air in the primary throat, 145 main and 175 air in the seconday throat and has a 55 idle jet. I'm sure that these wouldnt be the problem as it was working fine until today, but if anyone could please tell me what size jets they run, that would be appreciated. Here is a photo of what the carbie is like on the engine. Please, if anything seems funny, let me know. If anyone has an idea of what may cause this, that would be great. I may even be wrong by thinking it is the carbie... :D Thanks in advance, Alex.
