  1. Covered many times. You should try search for it... As a bit of a hint, try the words Corona, Falcon and Commodore.
  2. This isn't serious is it? My first thought was that it was a take-off of that Vitamin Water stuff. (looks to be the same bottle) :lolcry: Oh well, I'd still give it a shot
  3. Got both my red P's and green P's first attempt :P But, failed my first attempt at my L's :y: I didn't read the book at all, just rocked up there and winged it. Was going good until there were questions which had specific distances etc. as the answer
  4. Wow! This car is amazing :S So much time and effort put into it, and it really shows. Can't wait to see it fully assembled and finished now that it has had it's respray. Great work :) :)
  5. I am a guitarist so I guess I can say I don't know all that much about drums. But in my books, anyone who can drum the crazy time shifts with LTE, DT (Petrucci) is pretty decent. I really can't judge a drummer by their Dynamics etc, but like you said he is a human drum machine. I am not saying he is the best drummer going, but I think he does an amazing job, same with all other progressive drummers. I don't know many drummers names, but basically all progressive drummers are awesome Spiral Architect, Pain of Salvation, Spastic Ink and the likes. I just think the way that they can change in and out of different timings constantly is impressive to watch/hear. But yeah, I havn't been offended by anything you said :S You're a drummer and can obviously make a better analysis of other drummers. I just mentioned Portnoy as a freak as to me, the things he drums is pretty damn technical.
  6. Mike Portnoy = Drum Freak. The shiz that man can do on drums is freaking nuts. :S
  7. Oh yes! Should have specified that. If you do go wreckers hunting, make sure you get the 2 spot ones, not the singles :D Thanks for pointing that out SilverRolla :)
  8. I don't know if it is the "BEST" setup for under $1000, but XT130 Corona struts and LCA's work a treat for the front end. With the Corona struts you can use the stock brake setup which is twin piston calipers and 266mm(I think) solid discs and also you will have a wider variety of shocks to use, as opposed to the standard strut(KYB AE86 shocks fit). Although solid discs won't be the best if you plan on going out to the track much, they will do a good enough job for street use. Also, by using Corona struts, they will leave you with the ability to move to larger brakes with the Hilux/Peugeot upgrade if you feel more stopping power is necessary. The XT130 LCA's are a good investment as you will gain a nice amount of neg. camber and some more track, which is always nice :hmm: For the rear, I think it would probably depend on how low you go as to what springs/shocks to use. If you plan on going really low, I believe that Suzuki Sierra shock work well, and if you want a nice in between height, use VN? Commodore stationwagon shocks(343113 KYB part number). Spring wise, I don't really know of any cheap fits other than the cut Falcon springs which you said you don't want, and, the other option being getting custom springs made for a higher fee. With the struts complete with brakes and LCAs being easily sourced from a wrecker, I'd say that they only other major costs would be new shocks(front and rear), a new set of rotors/pads for the front and some springs for the rear. Lets say <$200 for struts and LCAs, $350 for shocks, $150 for rotors, and $60-200 for springs in the rear, You should be able to get a decent upgrade for <$1000. It will really depend on what price you get parts for and what you actually decide to run as to what figure it will cost. Just shop around for best prices and you will have change from $1000 Edit: Probably should add that I use this setup (struts converted to coilovers) and it works very well. Also, I currently use stock KE70 springs in the rear but cut down. I didn't mention this at first as I didn't want to start a flame war about cut springs being bad etc. But LittleRedSpirit is spot on with soft keeping grip. I can throw my car around corners and still not loose the back end. I did use Falcon springs at first, but changed as they seemed to not seat right and made weird sounds when I hit bumps ;) Will invest in some custom springs when I have the time/get motivated.
  9. Google and Ye shall learn. Also, try the FAQ at the top of the page and the search button. You will find all you need to know on here.
  10. Ahhhh damn. So jealous right about now :POSTPICS!: Hope they are both f@$king awesome
  11. Metal guitarist here :jamie: . Been playing for about 5 years now, all self taught. Never "owned" my own guitar though until only recently when I built my own electric. :P I used to use my sisters POS yamaha thing and Peavey Rage 15watt practice amp when I first started as she never used it. After that I then moved on to acquiring her boyfreind's(now husband) old school Yamaha Pacifica. Last year though, after feeling much guilt for having "borrowed" his guitar for so long(3 years), and the large need for an upgrade, I decided to make a guitar for my yr 12 DnT major work instead of buying one. My guitar: Mmm, seven string goodness :y: Band wise, I've never done anything too serious. Was in a band with a few of my mates which we got together to play throughout school and all those sorts of things. Never had a proper name though, so we just went by the name Testicular Sound Express (TSE) so that way we could be introduced as something when we played :rocknroll: Oh yeah, may or may not have been inspired by Family Guy. -Alex
  12. Fuel wise, it doesnt seem to use much more than what the standard carb did. That being said, the original carb on my engine was f@$ked, so yes it was an improvement from what I had. While it doesn't make the car "fast as", replacing the old carb with a $50 Weber has made a pretty noticeable difference to me. The old carb would flat spot badly in any rev range, no matter if it was warmed up or not. While the Weber still has a little flat spot if I boot it below 2000rpm due to it running rich, it is still 10x better than what I had, especially for how little it cost and easy it was to install. I don't have any problems with it idling, it sits nicely on about 900rpm when it is warm and a little lower when cold(6:30 starts etc :( ) The only problem I did have to do with idling was from a little bit of broken off corrosion blocking the idle jet, but a bit of carbie cleaner fixed that and from there I havnt had any issues. What Felix said is pretty spot on. My engine with the 32/36 makes 6000rpm alot easier than when I had the stock carb, and due to being rich I loose low end power. I can't say for sure, but I am pretty sure that with the right sized jets/chokes/venturis/what ever else is inside of the carb, a 32/36 can work pretty effective on a 4k. But, I guess getting it it perfectly set up would require a dyno and a fair bit of $$$. It is up to you if you want to go to a Weber or not. Personally, I think that if there is nothing wrong with what you have, then it is not worth changing to a 32/36. However, if you have the time to experiment or, have the money to get it jetted/tuned correctly, then go for it, chances are you might like it better. Also, the weber sounds alot better than the original carb :o
  13. Hey mate, I have a 32/36 on my 4K currently and it was pretty easy to rig up. You can get the adapter plate from ebay for like $30 or so, or probably also be able to order it from repco or anywhere that can get Redline parts in. Also, the adapter plate for a K series manifold is exactly the same as a Datsun L series one, so if you see one of those on ebay, it'll do the same thing :) When my old man and I put the weber on, it was pretty straight forward. The only problem the throttle linkage as the one that was on the Weber when I got it had a mechanical linkage(for a Datto), not cable. Bit of metal and a welder fixed that easily enough and from there just had to hook up the vacuum lines/fuel. Also, i needed to make a mount for the cable to fix to, so again some metal and a few welds fixed that. Apart from that, there wern't any problems that I can recall. As far as jet sizes go, mine is jetted for a 1.6 so it runs a little rich on the 1.3. I should get it rejetted, however, I am lazy, and I have other plans for the engine so at the moment it is going to stay that way :) I don't know what it is like for you, but where I live, there are no places in town that do Dyno tuning, so it makes it a bit difficult to work out what jet sizes to get, and when they are $10 a pop for a jet, trial and error becomes a little expensive. I believe though, that you can buy a jet drilling kit which allows you to experiment a bit with different sizes w/out having to buy each jet. Apparently you just block a couple of mains/air jets with solder and drill it out with what ever size you want, and, if you get the wrong size, just re-solder and redrill with another size. Hope this helps. If not, I'm sure someone else with more knowledge can fill in gaps. :) -Alex
  14. Happy B-Day mate  Have a good one :hmm:
  15. I'm 18 and just started a kitchen/joinery traineeship. Pay rate is about $300/40hr week. I know it isn't much, but hey, we all have to start somewhere, and, once I am fully qualified it will be sweet as :fuzz:.
  16. Second all of that. :y: It's a shame that the Escort came last though
  17. River's adds. Possibly the most annoying TV add(s) of all time. That is all...For now.
  18. Nice video there Justin. Was good to watch those guys race again. The only footage I got was them going round Hell's Corner just after the start of the race, which sucked, as these guys were the best to watch out of all the different races. I'd rather watch the Touring Car Masters over the V8 Supercars any day of the week. Love listening to their tires squeal and watching them go sideways around the corners. :y:
  19. Metal goodness :lolcry: Thanks for the link.
  20. Riced-up Lancers. 'Nuff said.
  21. Running out of Carlton Draught kegs at my sisters' wedding yesterday. 8|
  22. First time I've seen a CNC machine in action so yeah, I did enjoy it. Especially to see it create an something as complex as an engine block. 8|
  23. Wow, that is absolutely amazing to say the least. The wonders of modern technology at work. Good find Fusion.
  24. Oh Goon. Where would we ever be without you? :( I left the goon bags alone as soon as I got a job and could spend more than $9 on alcohol. Goon is so bad
  25. I'm a beer man. Carlton Draught all the way :( I do have spirits on occasion, but I don't find them nearly as nice to drink. I don't drink to get drunk (most of the time ), so I would much prefer to have a nice cold beer over downing a can of rough tasting bourbon. Plus, beer is cheaper than spirits.
