Yeah, mine started real well, woke up to this on my missus car... as the picture says..........................................................y'all

That hottest day this summer, takes commitment to work on your car... (no racist jokes please) Not too bad underneath front quarter panels or doors, thank God Unsurprisingly, driver's side door and panel much better nick than passenger's side, I reckon both are well saveable... I think the end of the first phase will be when I have fixed all the rust on the "inner" shell, which thankfully isn't too bad. Once that's done, then the real fun can start with trying to fix panels.
-
My shell has so much rust, I'd only get half a shell back from blasting.
-
Was half deaf for hours yesterday, LOL, not today... Too close for comfort... More sticky evil shit Rust convertor, no where near as bad as stripper. I am thinking maybe fibreglass bolt ons for rear guards, (front as well?) after rust has been "fixed"
-
I think the point they were trying to make is that we still have a fully fledged car manufacturing industry (try buying a British made car that most can people afford), unlike the poms...
-
Yeah, its evil shit, but it works. Only got two chemical burns  , not that messy either, as only doing small areas
-
Put in some serious time today, big hole... Cut nice and large to get to the visible background rust, which will just get wire brushed, rust converted and painted. The only really tricky rust on the driver's side Oh look, it does have some proper metal left!
-
Due to limited funds and a desire to build it myself, this project is strictly DIY, I have decided against completely bare metalling, as it is fairly obvious that some areas are for all intents and purposes, rust-free, and I can't see the point of removing paint for the sake of removing paint.
-
Before: After: 100% success, no broken glass, even the rubber seals around the small window came out undamaged. front and rear screens show no evidence of rust, so they are staying in. Good news, on sides, rust is pretty much limited to outer skin; bad news, getting access with a welder is going to be hard... next stop, paint stripper
-
Phase 1: Strip car, removing all fixed glass except for hatch (fairly rust free) then strip all the paint except underneath (again, looks pretty solid)

Be prepared to get well and truly Tacumi'd for a n/a rwd manifold :y:

...real fun starts tomorrow :y: Oh yeah, got a spare 4ag(z)e head and A series bellhousing from Jonny too.

Home at last, home at last, thank God almighty, home at last! Anyone for 4wding? Thanks to relatives for tow car (sorry about the paint off the rear bumper) and Andrew Bird of Don Towing (plug, plug) for lend of the trailer...

Damn, thanks for reply

Quick question: AE82; A=A series engine, E=body type? 82=model number. Does that mean that I will be able to use the twinky's steering rack and column in the TE71? How about pedal box, dash? Cheers, machg

If it will bolt into a 1987 twincam corolla (it does) it should bolt into a 91 CS, may have to swap some mounts around, but definitely no custom stuff.

Too late made a bloody mess! Really freaky, I hooked the brake booster back up properly and the whistle got less, started trickling soapy water around and as it trickled around the throttle body, the noise stopped! Revved it up and noise started again, trickled more water, stopped again, this time I think for good! I reckon the hole must have been microscopic, and the "thick" soapy water has blocked it. Idle is now quiet and 1000 rpm, the lowest its ever been since I've had it! Fabricated cover, not bling, :lolcry: but may provide a bit more bonnet clearance. One benefit of having the butterfly activator (what's the proper term?) on this side of plenum is that I may be able to use the existing throttle cable bracket rather than having to weld onto the other side of the plenum.
-
...agreed; if you were looking for positive pressure leaks, this will be a vacuum leak somewhere, although I guess I could use this technique by blowing compressed air into the plenum while the engine is stopped, cheers.
-
thanks guys, didn't push clamp down on brake booster hose, so here's hoping, will get Aerostart if that don't work.
-
Fitted cover to throttle body, nearly all good, idle is under 1500, but there is very loud whistle under full vacuum, obviously a small air leak, but stuffed if I can find it. Have removed the bolt on covers, makes no difference, can't see any holes in the welding, anyone got any ideas, or how to find the bastard?
-
Twincharging good for drift... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuJEXp-EKso
-
It works! High rpm is due to a couple of big air leaks (have to fabricate a cover for the removed throttle body coolant thingy) .

Wasn't going to do anything today, got on the piss last night so left car, tools etc. in town. Anyway, got bored, decided to do little bits with intake manifold, isn't it amazing, when you're not planning on anything and everything works, your dodgy spare socket set happens to have the right sockets etc. etc. All was going great so decided to re-install intake manifold in the Twinky and make sure it works before I start pulling everything apart. Anyway found a small clearance issue, factory strut brace, LOL. Will post vid when (if?) I get it running.

That looks really neat, someone should get on to it. Up to $500.00 now, still a bargain given how much are AE86s or even KE/AE7xs are going for now...

Finally got the 2t out of shell, not easy...
