  1. Got heaps done today, finished and primered all rust spots up to the firewall, and removed all sound deadening from firewall back to B pillar. Some Pics: Used a health grill ($10 from the tip shop FTW!) to soften most of the large areas of sound deadening, made the job heaps easier:
  2. Passenger side: Driver side: I don't think I'll bother with panhard rod mods, it would't be more than 1cm offset
  3. Yeah, its got me stuffed too, the only thing I can think of is that the rod sits horizontal standard (i.e. at its maximum deflection) and lowering has effectively shortened it. Interestingly, it seems to do the same thing on the other car. I'll take some pics tomorrow. Car seems to handle O.K. will have to jack her up and have another look.
  4. That is exactly the sort of thing I am into. so the rod should look like: \\\\\\\\\\\\\nut///////////// and I tap normal right hand threads into each side of the cut panhard rod?
  5. TE71 with AE71 engine x-member. Already have an AE82 column, this should be "the missing link" (I hope)
  6. Has anyone got one of these lying around? Has to be cheap (free? LOL), preferably southern tassie
  7. Yeah, that's what I thought, but the diff has gone to the driver's side! WTF? I guess the rod must be horizontal/parallel to the diff at stock height and lowering pushes it past horizontal, effectively shortening the rod. I might borrow a decent jack, hoist her up, remove the panhard rod and lower it to see where the diff sits "naturally", then, if it centres O.K. attached the rod one end only and cut and shut the other.
  8. Is it possible/advisable to make an intake gasket out of gasket paper?
  9. Ha, ha, Luke, the force is strong with this one. LOL Nice, semi-sensible ride there, a bit slower than the work car.
  10. I am happy with ride/handling with the choppies, but the diff looks like it has displaced to the drivers side by about 1-2 cm. Have other people found the same thing when lowering T18s?
  11. Got a bit done today: - A better mousetrap - Completed front repair - Mmmmm black - Just when you think you've finished, you find more rust. Does anyone have a list of torque wrench settings for a T18/TE71?
  12. That's the plan. Going for a job on Tuesday, has a Toyota company car... ...Pizza delivery in a Yaris. ROFLMAO
  13. Bloody cable clutches, hydraulic clutches FTW!
  14. Thanks for that, some interesting stuff there. I could do with one of those tools that does little 90 degree bends.
  15. Definitely more chance of rust, water can settle around the seals, or worse, it can leak. Having said that, the only part of my project ("lazarust") that isn't rusted is the roof!
  16. First mod: Before: After: Cost: $0 Drivers seat: broken rear seat rail or broken ratchet on the reclining mechanism?
  17. I have to find $500 to pay for her, which is going to hurt the $1K budget unless I can sell some parts off (after rego. runs out)
  18. Once I have this thing payed off (someone give me some work, LOL) the next thing will be rust treatment and a $100 paint job. I am thinking about using Interlux Brightside Rescue Orange (marine epoxy enamel), thinned down and applied with foam rollers and brushes!
  19. Picked up an AE71 engine x member today, I will finally be able to start moving forward with lazarust again. Actually, its been good having a donor car ("jesus") to work/play with, because I can try the things that might or might not work on it first (like the "Makita" springs) and if it doesn't work, then I'm not wrecking lazarust.
  20. - That's better, front and rear ride height more even, hopefully it will ride a bit better too, it was so stiff with the "superlows", fair dinkum, I had motion sickness driving it. (was very easy to get sideways though, LOL.)
  21. - No, its not a photochop... - "Makita" lows on the front, superlows on the rear, DOH! LOL
  22. Yeah, kids are awesome, shame on us that have our kids for years and forget to treasure them. All the best with her mate.
  23. - Door fixed, 1 stuffed hinge+ re-hang = all good, Dukes of Hazard was hillarious yesterday, but would have got annoying really fast. - Drift spec yo, LOL - Fixed back racing bucket! (ratchet was stuffed, see the welded, broken, rear seat rail mount) As this car has a couple of months rego, I might as well use it.
  24. Will use parts for "lazarust", may cut up panels. Yes/No? - these old school mags worth a bit? (I'll clean them up) - Registered? Yes! - Roadworthy? ROFLMAO! - Snatch strap holding door closed. - "Straight" front end - Quality dash pad - Actually a really decent engine Laugh and Enjoy ;)
  25. - motorless - dodgy chain drive, NOT worth the hassle - friction drive FTW - see the de-restricted exhaust and better quality frame. - side stand and dual front brakes, needed for.... ...FUN!
