Having to put a new gearbox in "jesus" I have experimented with engine fitment on "lazarust". I have worked out by cutting off the old mounts from the original crossmember and the mounts off the new (AE71), then bolting and welding the T series mounts onto the A series crossmember the alignment should be perfect. Will post pics when I am done.

Thanks Aaron (for the tailshaft) it fits perfectly, and "jesus" is back on the road, and its a good box, no chrunches, no noises, absolutely stoked!

Carby: works by venturi effect: vacuum (and movement of air?) from engine lowers the air pressure in front of the jets, which being subject to standard atmospheric pressure "push" fuel through them into the intake manifold and then into the engine. The problem with boosted engines is that the pressure running past the jets is greater than behind them, effectively pushing fuel the wrong way. Putting the whole carb in a box means that the air pressure balance is restored allowing the venturi effect, and fuel delivery. Boost means more air which means more fuel to maintain stoichometric (actually richer than stoich.) air fuel ratio, hence RRFPR, bigger jets etc. When I get some money, I am going to develop a fairly crude fuel enrichment system (EFI for boost only) that will work with any additional injector(s) on any engine (carb or efi). Kits should be less than $200, not including injectors.

Yes T18 = 20 spline, TE71, AE71 etc. = 22 (are some 23?) spline. PM me $$ for shaft + will need to know length to see if it will bolt in. I am coming up for V8s, so may be able to pick up.

Hey all, the gearbox in my T18 was dying so I hooked up a spare T50 I had sitting in the garage, only to find its a "big spline" T50 (off a TE71) and T18s have a small spline T50. So If someone has a good small spline T50 and wants to swap for a big spline T50, I would be very greatful. By the look of the oil that leaked out the back when I was installing it, I reckon its in pretty good condition internally, + its off a jap import, so its probably low Ks. Failing this, is there a "big spline" front tail shaft section that will bolt in to my tailshaft that someone can sell me?
-
??Dunno, the output shaft is bigger so it wouldn't mate (LOL) with the tail shaft. Could I swap the front half of the tail shaft for an AE71 one?
-
...sometimes you can't win, f-----g TE71 box is 22 spline, TE72s are 20 !@#$%^&*() (realised after mating new box and dropping engine and box back into car!)

Getting these on pay day, maybe I should engrave "sux" under NISSAN on the centre caps to stir up the Silvia/Skyline boys... The rims only just clear the front struts... The tyre doesn't (Will have to get 195/50R15s)... 7th and 8th coats sprayed, result "acceptable"... Oh yeah, gearbox is slowly dying so pulled engine and box yesterday...arghhhh!

Thanks anyway, apparently one of the local taxi companies down here is an authorised Parnell VSI installer, so I'll drop in and talk to them on Monday arvo.

In reference to: http://www.rollaclub.com/board/?showtopic=22733&st=30 and http://www.rollaclub.com/board/?showtopic=25139 does anyone know anyone in Hobart I can talk to about vapour LPG injectors?

Monster bump, LOL! I have been doing a lot of thinking about how much horespower I want, and how I am going to get it (on low budget, LOL). I am going with My Next Big Idea (seperate thread) I already have two LM1949 injector driver chips that will be perfect for running any injector. I figure I will need enough LPG injector capacity for 200 hp, which I think should be achievable with a 2TGUE with a T3 sized turbo setup. Its impossible to find specific information on LPG injector horsepower capacity on the net, so I guess I'll have to go and talk to a real person. Does anyone know anyone in Hobart who does high performace (e.g. EFI) LPG work? On other news: I sprayed the 7th and 8th coats of the brightside paint as I wasn't happy with the rollering finish. It looks pretty good. I am going to do a very light sand with 800 or 1200 then try some polish. I have concluded that the paint is good stuff (seems very tough and sticks like chewy to a blanket), but its not exactly cheap, and if you want a good result, it is probably just as much work as a spray job. I have lost my phone, so its going to be a hassle taking pics, I'll take one once I have polished and buffed it.

exams and stress and all that stuff = insomnia I'd say that's a fairly normal reaction to stress. The clinical definition of "chronic" insomnia is sustained trouble sleeping for a month or more. Insomnia becomes a problem when it stops you from functioning "normally". I got to the stage where I was having less than 2 hours sleep three nights in a row and I couldn't do normal things like work, eat properly (lost 5kg!) hold decent conversations. I have been prescribed anti-depressants for the insomnia and "anxiety" and still don't have a normal sleeping pattern, but I get enough sleep to do normal things again, and that's what's impotant. It can take a while to get back to normal after stressful stuff. If it gets to the stage where you feel restricted by it, see a doctor

I have a nine year old daughter. I would rather she looked at Bill Henson's art (and learn/experience emotions from looking at them) than seeing some PR seeking Disney actressess latest nude photo/sex tape done to "advance" their career. Its not "art" that's screwing up our kids folks...

TE71: I don't like indicators in the front guards, and the rear wing could be better (something lower and mounted further back) apart from that; PERFECTION! KE20: hard to fault, but what's the story with the exhaust setup, is that an external wastegate? CARINA: Just a little lower would be nice. So you're LHD in Norway, cool. Awesome collection. What sort of ECU are you using? Looks like the KE20 is running carbs, can we have some more info on its setup?

Pros: No LPG cold start issues. Tune petrol for economy knowing LPG will handle boost Setup at everything at home (*cough* BBQ gas cylinder *cough*) drive car to installer to fit tank Cons: Will run like a dog on petrol with timing setup for LPG boost (locked dissy? - I have never uderstood why this is necessary, if car is boosting, the dissy wouldn't be seeing vaccuum, would it?) - ultimately could be solved with electronically controlled ignition.

Wanting to have some fun in sub $1K racing; I have been thinking of cheap ways to make my car go fast for little $$$. Budget means that full EFI and turbo is not an option. I got thinking about how cheaply and reliably add fuel to suit boost. What I thought was something along these lines: http://autospeed.com/cms/A_0693/article.html and started chasing parts. Then driving up to Launceston the other day I had a better idea: Use LPG as the additional fuel when running boost! The set-up would be similar, but using LPG fueling system and injectors instead of petrol. Pros: LPG is much more knock resistant than petrol. No EFI pumps, wiring, return lines etc. etc. - perfect for carby motors. $2000 government rebate. Already have convertor, intercooler, turbo. Run out of petrol? - drive on boost (LPG) to servo; Run out of LPG? - stay off boost to servo. Cons: Weight. Would have to be careful with gas tank level when boosting. Cost and availability of LPG injectors. I think this idea has huge potential. Please give feedback/point out things I might have overlooked. Mods; move if in wrong section.

There are a couple of things different concerning installation of engines. In an R31 the cooling system was designed with the engine, in a VL its a bodged up job to suit the styling of the car. VLs make slightly more power, R31s make slightly more torque. (From memory)

ROFLMAO: "but officer, it complies with the 'P' plate restrictions, it's only 1400cc you know..."
-
6age, I'd like to see that, its only 200cc less, it would be that much slower than a 4age, would it? (Its only 20V's that suffer from having the dissy in the wrong spot, 16 valve 4ages don't have that problem)

Just waiting for someone to build one optimised for performance. How's yours going?
