    Yes, switch not working. Toyota will have one. You might find one in a scrapyard if you want to save a few bucks.

    Keep the thermofan. Best setup there is imo. First thing to try : With ignition on, unplug the thermoswitch located on top of thermostat housing. Does the fan start ?

    Couple of things you should look into: Does your 5k have dished pistons, and how many cc are your 3k head combustion chambers. Suggest a bit of reseach.
