  1. In europe they got electric fans. Theyre controled by a thermoswitch mounted in the top of the thermostat housing, and a relay. Doesnt cause any whiplash injurys preformancewise but there is a gain. Will give better milage as well. Mine hardly ever runs unless pushing it , but that would be due cooler climate
  2. A k40 is 22kg A 4K including k40 , manifolds, enginemounts. flywheel & clutch, starter , alternator - everything exept carb and fuelpump was 111kg acording to my scales.
  3. My ke30 electric thermoswitch contolled cooling fan pulls 3.7 A (Looks same as a ke70 fan.) 30 A would be a realy strong fan. Suggest you measure the current of the fan youll be using. You need some fat wire for that kind of current If you want a relay that handels big amps look for glow relays out of diesels
  4. Good project you got there :jamie: Very rare here as well but think Finland have a few. Your KP in the background?
  5. Have seen new ones for sale on club-k
  6. yea, 5k liteace from what I`ve seen
  7. Use a reduction gear starter if you can find one. They`re stronger. Look like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Reman-Start...sQ5fAccessories
  8. Spigot bearing is - 6001zz t and k boxes fit the same spigot bearings .Good to renew anyway. Especially if its been poked by the inputshaft. Sounds to me like clutch isn`t centered and ingoing shaft is hitting spigot bearing due beeing pushed to the side by clutch
  9. Use a long or extended socketwrench on the bolt you want to loosen and a long/extended spanner on the oposite bolt for locking. When you get to the 2nd last bolt just crack it loose and then move on loosen the last. 2nd last can then be loosend by hammer & spanner without locking Hasn`t failed me yet
  10. Did you use the steel plate between engine and gearbox from the 3k? 4ks use a thinner one. About 2mm difference
  11. remember to get a replacement for your leaking seal :D You might loose some gearoil as well if you pull the driveshaft out
  12. Should be able to find a cheap K40 gearbox from a ke3x or ke5x
  13. Same noise in all gears?
  14. Ke 15 (jap and euro anyway) had 5.8" B-code diffs. So did early ke2x. They both shared the 110x4 pcd as well. Starlets had X-code (5.7") and U-code (6") diffs and 114.3x4 pcd stud pattern . Width shoud be about the same but ke15s are leaf sprung and starlets have coils so mounts will need some moding if you choose that route.
  15. Belive you got some 4ks in the starlet Kp61 .
  16. My 35 is 3 digit (337) Could the 2 letter codes be a "aussie assembled" thing?

  19. The color code is usually a three digit number. Look for a smal alu. ID tag on the firewall. Should be stamped on that.

  25. 4K on a 4K is far from reving its tits off. Gearing it up will just make it lazyer but if thats what you want.. an easy fix is to put on some bigger wheels. Speedo will still show 100k at 4 grand though. Get a decent sound system and you wont notice :y: :y:  or take up singing
