Driveshaft yokes may have opened upp from previous abuse.
Like youre saying, straight line is better. Put an angle on blocks or find a better way of lowering ?

+ does it have lsd
+ is it locked
+ what oil youre using

ballast resistor is normaly bypassed while cranking to give coil full voltage when
starting (compansates for the voltage drop you get while cranking )
and reduced voltage when running to spare the points.
If it started smoking while cranking somethings wrong

Something else worth mentioning about arp studs in 16v 4ag, might be common knowledge tho..
arps are slightly longer. Have seen 3 cases on different forums that dizzy collides with arp stud causing bent dizzy shaft.
Didnt exactly help that head was shaved + thin headgasket.
2 of these engines were tried started. Result was broken camshaft + cam gearwheel as well.
No racecar but far from slow. Got 300Nm from 1800rpm on, so hardly ever downshift for making passes. Theres two vertions tho, 90 and 110hp. Mine was 110 before chipping.

I got a 01 406 as well :yes:. bought it new . chipped it + a green cotton air filter after a year(hdi)
so now its about 136 hp 300Nm. Great milage and good ride comfort in all conditions.
Mrs. uses it as daily but definatly our prefered car for long trips.
No plans of trading that one in . No nasty suprises yet, just normal maintenance.
Like the look of the coupe but need the wagon :wink:

,IGF , NE , #10 and so on.
Any idea if these ECUs have start block with coded key?
