Every conversation with repco goes like this: me: hi I'd like to buy a thing Repco: your thing needs to be ordered in, we dont carry many things on the shelf any more, i will ring you back with a price once i have asked 10 people how to use the "system" Repco: Hi the price of your thing is twice as much as you can get it elsewhere, and it will take 3 days to get here. me: why would i get the thing through you when i can order from the internet and it will take the same or less time and be half as much? and it will come to my house rather than me having to come to your shop. Repco: Sorry i cant do any better me: ok bye.

There is sooooo much to putting an sr20 turbo in a ke20. And 80% of the effort and probably cost is after the engine and gearbox is bolted in and running.

Be different, go bmw M44 from an E36 bmw! all alloy, 1.9L and sporty. and made up to 2001. Yes im a bmw fan boy now. but seriously look it up, dirty cheap, plentiful and 103kw and 180nm!

Yah that opening post is....difficult to read. Soooo many better options than a 22re. ke20 is a tiny light car, why put a boat anchor in the front? put the 4age in. or an mx5 motor, or anything, fuel injected, under 2L and modern:)

KE10 - Carburetor Kits/Availability/Options/Help
ke70dave replied to thefallen1's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
Don't worry about Jeremy, he does that. And if he keeps doing we might have to start deleting things. I personally have done a few carby builds over the years and have only ever used reproduction kits. Never had an issue. The needle and seat and the carby pump are the two important things. And the gaskets and o-rings are there to seal it all up which is all about correct installation. The last accelerator pump plunger thing i put in my suzuki was like a bit of leather on the end. looked dodgy, but it worked perfectly fine for a few yrs before i sold it. Do what parrot suggests and just take your time taking it appart so you can compare old parts to new before you swap them in. Have you tried the local parts shops? Buying a 30dollar thing from america seems annoying. -
The cardboard box alone is a cool thing to have!
-
Where on earth did you find those parrot? Yahoo?
-
It would be quite a fun car. How does a 3sfe compare to a 4sfe? Mate had a sv21 Camry with a 3sfe. Suprisingly quick for what it was.

I think the mightycarmods guys call it automotive archaeology.

Yah the factory e30 lsd is considered to be very good. Theres a guy down the gold coast that does bmw lsds for about $1000. Comes in any ratio of your choice and a warranty. Gotta Save my pennies! Consumables for 3d printer are suprisingly affordable. Its about $30 for 1kg roll. Which sounds expensive but that gauge pod thing is like 15grams. The software is cool in that it makes sections of the model honeycomb to reduce material usage.

For that price you are probably looking at a 5k conversion. Have a bit of a google around as it is basically a bolt in job. If its a daily drive i would be spending the money on basically giving the engine a once over. Remember the car and engine are old. So they gonna need stuff replaced $$. Pending your ability you might get a nice camshaft, extractors/exhaust and a tuned carby for your budget.
-
Hi and welcome. How low is your budget? $1000?

The last setup i had in the ke70 was ~5.7kg front springs and cheap excel g shocks. It was actually very good and i think it was due to the fact that it had loads of available extension (or "droop"). The shocks at static height had maybe 40% compression and 60% extension. I feel this large amount of extension really helped the comfort. The e30 has slightly lower springs and it has loads of extension. Like.....200mm at least. I reckon thats why its so comfortable also. The wheels can easily "fall" into the holes in the road and keep the body relatively stable. My early suspension setups in ke70 and even s15 had bascially zero droop. Crash crash crash over the bumps:p
-
Dont worry i am a few yrs behind you parrott and i hate on stiff suspension. If i cant easily hold a coffee amd not spill it driving to work....its too stiff. I kinda wish i had realised this when i had alot more free money to spend on car parts. I reckon a compliant ke70 on sticky tyres would be a hoot. I think the e30 springs are about 3kg. Plenty stiff enough with good shocks to keep them under control. We just got to the sunshine coast for a weeks holiday. Its so bloody humid. Im a sweaty mess just thinking about going away from the AC.
-
Ahh well you didnt mention that. Why are you considering dodging up a fuel pump when you are making so much horsepower? No brainer for me is to replace it with a brand newy:D

Well Merry Christmas and happy new year to all! So good news, i got a work ute! company car that i can drive anywhere. so the BMW is off daily work duties. It did 12000km in 10weeks and not a single issue. not bad eh! Few weeks ago i picked up set of oem wheels. They are 14x6 and slightly better offset than the steelies. i gave them a coat of paint and i reckon they are a big improvement. They have some sort of bridgestone tyre on them. Certainly a considerable improvement over the chinesium tyres that were on it. I did develop a bit of a driveline vibration. I changed the support bearing on the driveshaft that seems to fixed it mostly. Wasnt too bad of a job, but its never much fun climbing under the car... Now the wife bought me a 3d printer for xmas, probably one of the coolest toys ive played with in a while. very cool thing. I took no time in printout a toyota logo. Once i had fgured out the settings on the thing i eventually modelled up a proper gauge holder for my water temp gauge. turned out quite good i think! I am still working out the settings. its a trade off between print quality and print time. You can reduce it to 0.1mm layer height and it looks great, but it takes hours to print. Alternatively you can print it quite course, and then just hit it with some primer/putty and paint to smooth it out. I probably should paint the parts anyway as currently i'm printing in PLA which is the easiest to print for a beginner but it doesn't have the best UV resistance. Next projets on the car will be: - 3d print a cup holder for the beema! - Replace the front castor bushes (in the mail) - do something about that megasquirt that is sitting in a box in the garage - I'm on the lookout for a decent aftermarket steering wheel. I think id like one of the classic momo leather motorsport wheels. Ill keep my eye open for one. -save up and buy an LSD
-
Is it just a standard 4age? If it were me id put an oem sx pump.
-
nah just buy a new pump. Put old pump in bin:) Any of the parts mobs will have one. try and get a reputable brand. Bosch if possible.

Pft.. 3 in the 3 weeks. Amateur. My record was 4 in 1 week back when i had the ke70! Never got a ticket. Just a "random" breath test and have a good night sir. Never get pulled over now and still driving a 32yr old classic car. I guess I'm too old to be a police target :(

Makes all the right noises and destroys bogan utes. love it.

Grab a few photos of your unknown wires and the general location of where you think they go. The corolla nerds will probably recognise the plugs...

Looks like a rally car:D

Greetings all. Great to see bit of a pickup in activity around here in the last year. On wards and upwards. Think we should all thank our mighty leader irokin for keeping the lights on. I hope you all have a great christmas with your family and friends and maybe even get a few automotive pressies:) Ke70dave.

15x8 0 offset. 195/50/15 does it fit w/ ke70 stock height?
ke70dave replied to KE70ph's topic in KE70 Technical Articles
On my old car i had 15x7 +13ish. and i thought that was just about perfect for hard driving, never touched but still looked good. Also big wide wheels looks so weird on stock ride height.
